Non vocalists might not grasp just how unbelievable Bobby's singing is in the Ave Maria/Prelude in C. But singers will know that this is just insane. To move your voice to quickly with large leaps, going in and out of different registers with THAT degree of accuracy is simply mind blowing. The lower notes that could be easy to fake or be slightly out of tune, because leaping to such a different register so quickly makes it difficult to control your voice precisely, are ALL perfect, despite quickly changing harmonies. Just WOW
I am a non-singer who played with great singers in college. I spent a lot of time with them. I have spent even more time with great musicians. The "technical facility" these two have is unparalleled. They do not rely on it. They are making great music with a groove.
I am a professional, classically trained singer. What Master McFerrin does borders on the impossible, yet with accuracy and musicality. Yo Yo -- well, "angelic" comes to mind, inadequate as it is. Together, a choir of angels should sound as lovely.
It's impossible not to fall in love with this duo. Together they create magic. I'm coming back in January 2023. Splendor for musical skills. Love from Chicago.
This is amazing! One of the great things about Yo Yo Ma is that he's so willing to do non traditional music collaborations. And how Bobby can keep track of his notes is so impressive.
The last song reminds me of Bobby’s Circle Songs. Those songs got me through my recovery with a herniated disc in my lower back. For weeks, the only way I could fall asleep was listening to Circle Songs. So grateful for these gifted musicians.
"Hush" was recommended to me by Thomas Steudel, the cellist I was playing with back then. I am forever grateful to him for that. This album was the right one at the right time and it opened my mind in so many directions; I am still exploring them.
I went back stage after a concert and Colorado to see McFerrin sing with one of the sax players from the university band, just Bobby and the sax player after the audience was gone, grooving on a bebop song.
Only 30 years after the fact . . but definitely never too late! Though I have to say, I love this live performance much more than the album. The album is great though
I remember realizing the genius of Bobby McFerrin, seeing him in concert (singing WITH the audience!) and watching every video on TH-cam that I could find over 10 years ago. I didn't find this one then! Thank you!
Thank you for posting this. Two amazing musicians creating something together. THIS is why I play music with others. This connection and magic you can make.
3:52 Just tearing up. You can see the love that they just shared on that stage in the way they held each other's hand and looked in each other's eyes. So much love and education in these two people. Thank you!
These guys… so unreal. And I just never would’ve thought that cello and voice could do so much. Only McFerrin and Ma could pull this off in such a beautiful way.
When I first bought the CD way back then, I was amazed at what Bobby McFerrin could do with his voice. It's even cooler to see this done live. I wish I was actually there to witness this wonderful display of talent! Thank you!
playing prelude in c in the background and theses two dont miss the timing of a single note, Bobby's voice, Yo Yo's cello and Bach's piano acomodate so well its amazing
It is just beautiful to listen an see these two souls. They make mine tremble , just to think how united they are ,only in America. And how sad it is now how divided we are. Makes me want to cry.
If YoYo Ma and Bobby McFerrin did another recording or CD, it would be an instant grammy..This is a collaboration that is very rare, and produces something ethereal.
I remember my mother getting this album and I fell in love with it ever since she first played it in our 6 disc cd changer in our brand new suburban lol. Real music and originality and artistry from both these greats!
Mr. McFerrin sat in with Us at The Oregon Electric Station in the 90”s. He crushed “Take Five” and was so gracious and generous to a scared to death burgeoning Vocal Instrument- Me!😇🙏🏾☝🏾🙌🏾👊🏾👏🏾👑❤️🖤💚☮️☯️💟😌
When McFerrin is being interviewed, he sounds like Jimi Hendrix. The same humility shines through in both Maestro McFerrin and Maestro Ma. Flawless beauty!
Genius - Passion - Humility - Selfless. Yo Yo is still giving but our blessed Bobby in the deep stages of Parkinson's is not giving as much anymore. What he leaves behind no one will be able to touch - unless God ordains it. Because these two cats are from the very hand of the Creator.
two beautiful musicians making beautiful music together, it spells heaven on earth, we need this so much in today's world, June 29, 2018, as the US struggles with her identity, moral & ethical standards under trumpists in the oval office, thank you so much for posting this for all to enjoy and be reminded of what beauty looks like.
A T artistic people don’t need to be “reminded”, we’ll always be concerned with beauty. It’s the legally blind and intellectually lazy masses you should address that to
I thought the chops on Flight of the Bumblebee were insane until I heard McFerrin do Ave Maria/Bach 1st Prelude Wohltempierte Klavier. That note control was like nothing I’ve ever heard and I’m about Yo-Yo Mah’s age. And it sounded gorgeous while he was doing it. He plays his voice like a keyboard. The funny thing is I’m not sure most people in the audience knew that the Ave Maria was an even more miraculous singing performance than Bumblebee was.
Both ubelievebly musical and the bumble bee is already unplayable alone, and then together is almost impossible at that speed. Bobby sounds like an organ. Its so perfect in tune with the cello that it sounds like an accord with 3 notes.
So NICE to see TV serving up something so spectacularly played and beautiful ! Maybe CBS, who tried to buy up all of the great instrument-making companies back in the 1980's but created garbage instruments instead, perhaps they can get over their shame, and broadcast these fabulous musicians again! Thank Johnny who recognized what the word "ARTIST" really means!

Agreed. 8:50 Arpeggios are meant to be played with instruments, not sung with a human voice. He's got some pretty insane vocal techniques.

They do not rely on it. They are making great music with a groove.
Okay good to know< I had no idea what he was doing.
McFerrin is the most underrated singer on the planet.
I am a professional, classically trained singer. What Master McFerrin does borders on the impossible, yet with accuracy and musicality. Yo Yo -- well, "angelic" comes to mind, inadequate as it is. Together, a choir of angels should sound as lovely.
Yo Yo Ma, perhaps the best of his generation, and Bobby McFerrin is an absolute freak of nature with his pitch and vocal agility.
It's impossible not to fall in love with this duo. Together they create magic. I'm coming back in January 2023. Splendor for musical skills. Love from Chicago.
Bobby’s pitch is absolutely insane! And Yo Yo is a monster!
This is amazing! One of the great things about Yo Yo Ma is that he's so willing to do non traditional music collaborations. And how Bobby can keep track of his notes is so impressive.
Had this CD and played it over and over...I still have the jewel case, but in a move I lost the CD...
The last song reminds me of Bobby’s Circle Songs. Those songs got me through my recovery with a herniated disc in my lower back. For weeks, the only way I could fall asleep was listening to Circle Songs. So grateful for these gifted musicians.
Bobby & Yoyo, two lovely guys. 90's, what a gorgeous golden age where everything just blossomed.
"Hush" was recommended to me by Thomas Steudel, the cellist I was playing with back then. I am forever grateful to him for that. This album was the right one at the right time and it opened my mind in so many directions; I am still exploring them.

I'm going listen to the entire album immediately.

Amazing duo. These two men play in another league.
That other league is beauty itself, born in every breath! ArtAct

Happened upon this today. Made my day. Love both these musical treasures!!!!
Fabulous!!!!!

The level of coordination is insane. They need to know each other on an atomic level to make it sound this good!!!
McFerrin was the master of the human voice. Yo-Yo Ma the master of the cello.
When I first bought the CD way back then, I was amazed at what Bobby McFerrin could do with his voice. It's even cooler to see this done live. I wish I was actually there to witness this wonderful display of talent! Thank you!
Take that auto-tune!!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful treasure of music.
Testify.
Bobby McFerrin and Yo-Yo Ma Undeniably Brilliant. They joined their talents and hearts to create such moving beauty.
Never heard of Bobby McFerrin. The duet's music is very unique and so special. Thank you. Did you ever go to their concerts?
so. much. fun.

Terrific upload. Thank you.
Johnny Carson was pretty chill putting this on . ..light years from late night now for better or for worse. Selah.
Both wonderful, wonderful performers. It's the ease of execution combined with the expressive ability both display that makes it so much fun to hear.
It is just beautiful to listen an see these two souls. They make mine tremble , just to think how united they are ,only in America. And how sad it is now how divided we are. Makes me want to cry.
Thank you 🙏 I missed this one ☝️ ❤like them both 👏👏👏👍
If YoYo Ma and Bobby McFerrin did another recording or CD, it would be an instant grammy..This is a collaboration that is very rare, and produces something ethereal.
this is the only time flight of the bumblebee will be acceptable to me lmao
Same. The only non sacrilegious rendition.
@@stephiskhan and I know this doesnt matter, but I love how this one is 54 seconds long....much faster than the "world record"..
You mean it’s not acceptable for you when a bunch of helicopters are flying in formation?
Before it was overplayed!
dang i fucking love that
I remember my mother getting this album and I fell in love with it ever since she first played it in our 6 disc cd changer in our brand new suburban lol. Real music and originality and artistry from both these greats!
Indeed a superb piece by two magnificent musicians - thank you for sharing ité
I was so excited when I first heard about their collaboration I went out bought this CD as soon as it was released.
Both my favourite musicians… their collaboration create beautiful positive vibrations… simply magical!

Ce duo est un véritable miracle de la nature. Quelle merveille.
I love this álbum,. complete, tks Masters, 🎩💯🚭♿
Truly phenomenal masters at work.
👌🏽🌺🦋🎶
What a gentle energy.
When McFerrin is being interviewed, he sounds like Jimi Hendrix. The same humility shines through in both Maestro McFerrin and Maestro Ma. Flawless beauty!
I like how every now and then youtube recommend me a classic piece by Key and Peel.
One of my absolutely favorite albums... seen played live. Waaaow- *thank you so much* for posting this.
He still performs every week in Berkeley, CA. It was an honor to attend.
Impossible no enamorarse de este dúo. Hacen magia juntos.
*U* 're my *Everything*
Woah! 😮 Thankyou for posting! 😊😍
Ave Maria was stunningly beautiful.
The vocal control on Bobby is insane. And this is before auto tune. He is pitch perfect, every note is spot on. Incredible.
I love these two
It had to be 'The Flight of the Bumblebee'. My very favourite as a child. Thank you, Yo Yo.
Incredible! I clicked because thumbnail on my phone looked like Martin Lawrence playing Jerome 😂
Fun playful and technical ..what a great blend
On another note... I couldn't help noticing how cute Yo-Yo looked at that time - except for the nerdy glasses. :o)
Bobby's shirt is very very 90s (color scheme and design). I still have a few of those bought from the Gap in my house
😂 I think Zack and Slater wore similar shirts on saved by the bell
Extraordinary and amazing!!!
Thank you so much ! I loved every moment ❤
00:23 - Flight of the bumblebee from The Legend of Tsar Saltan
01:25 - Ave Maria
07:17 - Stars
Nice, thanks

Wish I'd seen this earlier but happy that I have seen & heard this magic.
@Yoyomamusic007 I'm doing fine, especially after listening to you and Bobby McFerrin treating us to such gorgeous ear candy.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this.
This is a gem
Thank you! Wonderful

What a gift to the world 🌍
This is awesome!!! I’m so happy to meet this!
Geniuses both.Thank you for posting this classic.
Unbelievable. Absolutely bonkers
💜💜💜
soooo good when two perfection meet, colide
Thanks for sharing this! :)
Amazing!!! Music is all about itself, no battery at all.
Both ubelievebly musical and the bumble bee is already unplayable alone, and then together is almost impossible at that speed.
Bobby sounds like an organ.
Its so perfect in tune with the cello that it sounds like an accord with 3 notes.
7:18 That is amazing.
That’s exactly how the world should be. What all of that is is what it should be. 😊😊
U know what my soul needs
Always nice to hear people play "Bumblebee".
So NICE to see TV serving up something so spectacularly played and beautiful ! Excellent!
I cannot tell you how hard it is to do the vocalizations this guy is doing.
looks like Gaël Monfils on this video, amazing musician anyway
True God given talent!!! And double the fun, too😉
Man, that's creative.
How amazing would it be to hear them do the Boccherini from master and commander.
Thank you so much!
Lkkj
Good to know Bobby hasn’t changed his routine in over 25 years.
Great interpretation!
Long live music, thank God for the arts.
歌の人も凄すぎる
あかちゃんまん 19分前の人いた〜
Pffft to your 15 notes per second. A rendition worth listening to.
熊蜂の飛行のやつワンボウ・スタッカートで弾いてた??
やばば
なんかスタッカートっぽくないけどね
Priceless ✨✨
DOS MÚSICOS EXTRAORDINARIOS
Classic artists!
utterly spellbindingly delicious..
They are both the best!!!❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I don't know what that last composition was, but it took me a couple of minutes to figure out that the whole thing is in 13/16 time!
Perfekt 🇵🇱 pozdrawia
I'm not a vocalist. I was a cellist many years ago. And I GET it! Maybe you are just a little....
Great memories!
Yo yo ma looking at him like "What in the world is he doing?"
