Well, after years of listening to this exact recording, I finally went and got myself a tenor banjo and have been playing along to this for a while now And I owe it all to this video
Wow! And you even have the tuba! I love the tuba in the old records. It's what makes the sound. I made sure I used the tuba in the 20s portion of my show. Great job again!
Every time I watch this -- and I watched this quite a number of times -- it makes me grin ear-to-ear. The song is of course an early radio days classic, but this performance? Love it.
Alas there is not much live going on right now! But we do have a twice-weekly upload of requests from our living room which we film live...do have a look on the channel!
Was this also written by Ray Noble? If so this Brit could almost give Berlin for the money. Both of them had a a wonderful feel for melody and their lyrics. . .. You're my winter, summer, spring is right up there with . . . I'll be loving you not just for an hour, not for a day, not for a year but always.
It was a crazy night with no plan! Sound man absent, poor camera guys with no idea what we were going to do...so glad we have a record of the event though!
The music was great. I found the tune in my Hal Leonard fake book and hadda have a look. However, the videographer was an idiot. You're supposed to focus on the leading improvisationist, and he missed all but a hazy piano.
Really glad that this version prompted a look at the music! This is the best accolade! I have to stick up for the poor film maker...it wasn't planned to film it, and the band didn't particularly want him on stage so he was trying to be discreet and hidden. VERY awkward angles and an enormous camera. He was so nice to do it for me for nothing on the hottest night of the year, and I'm so glad to have a record of this concert from less than ideal circumstances.

Not as much as I love listening to them. Thank for your continuous effort and for bringing light into our lives.
100 years old in 2020! Hard to believe and still a great song!
Almost nothing brings the roaring twenties to life as does this great song! May it last another century!
Pretty dress. I like it when you do historical songs and music. Very entertaining. Good camera work.
Thank you Jeannine! My husband filmed this gig when we were just friends...and, well, he's my husband now!!!
So great to see the music of the 1920's and 30's still being performed today!

A perfect song by a talented canary and never ever out of date.

Superb! (But poor camerawork fails to focus on soloists.)

I'm always so surprised at the musical acumen and beauty of the songs from the 20s

@@patriciahammondsongs Well that explains it. Maybe he'd like to redeem his reputation and re-shoot a more "staged" video.
Really good, but the instruments are drowning out the words.
Yeah the sound man sort of set up, and then disappeared completely. We did the best we could in the circs but I agree.
Your lovely voice overcome my dear! Mike Hunstanton x
Imagine a speakeasy.
Video is very amateurish, music is great, singer better than average.
Greasing, great performance.
Can't find a MALE vocal of this wonderful hit.
Why is that?
