Try: - Inchlings of the Shining Needle ~ Little Princess - Shoutoku Legend ~ True Administrator - Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind - Pandemonic Planet --- these aren't my top songs, but among the rest, they are among the few which are the most "metal friendly" in my opinion.

Tohou is one of those thing where once you've gone through bullet hell no matter how much content you find yourself dipping in out of it is never too much to handle. if you do more Tohou or not that is up to you I won't attempt to sway one way or the other but this is good stuff. It's so nice to hear an actually good cover of this song. I find that whether it's a cover or remix, it just doesn't sound as good as the original most of the time. This cover makes it justice. Props to that. (Second favourite Touhou song is Locked Girl.)
You could spend the next year covering 2hu and not only would you still have another year's worth of worthwhile material to choose from, we'd love every minute of it. And I'll throw the suggestion of Pure Furies out there one more time, just in case. :)

Also, I would propose that stage themes tend to have more variation due to less uniform game play, while boss battles are almost always high intensity spurts with regular breaks between paterns. Everyone's example stage theme seems to be The Capitol City of Flowers in the Sky. But I prefer Voile, the Magic Library, Cinderella Cage, Desire Drive, Ruse Rain, & The Sea Where One's Home Planet is Reflected, personally.

Finally, someone else who gets the amazing tunes from this series. The remixes for these tracks are so on point, and you really should keep at it EB! (maybe sometime in the future, you should consider doing Magus Night from GFW)

If you're thinking the music's starting to sound a bit similar, maybe try an earlier boss theme (something like Tiny Tiny Clever Commander or September Pumpkin), or a stage theme (plenty of good options to choose from here) or even something from one of ZUN's CDs (I would be so damn happy to hear you do, say, Dr Latency's Sleepless Eyes). A lot of the tracks have a certain 'feel' to them depending on where in the game you are, and many of the more popular ones are either final or extra boss themes, which might explain what you're feeling.
