I’m so sorry. I am in the same boat. And then all of my bosses “friends” get to sit around and have fun while everything is getting thrown at me. It’s so sad how companies do these things. I hope you have updated your resume. Hang in there.

I disagree with the comment about networking with other coworkers. Other coworkers are going to look out for themselves. My coworkers are in a clique with each other and the boss and since I’m new, I’m the outsider. Networking with coworkers can cause more damage.

Had this in my last place. Minor typos in reports where suddently a huge issue. Or if I only made 3 reports instead of 5 that week, I'd be riddiculed. When previously numbers weren't an issue. It was ever since this new manager started there, who just didn't like me for what ever reason. I just could tell he wanted me gone.

@All - I was pushed into a position where they kept changing the hours I needed to show up, they refused to pick me up, they gave me bare minimum raise, the next year, it was the new minimum wage bare minimum raise. They hadn't transfer my info over, so I walked out. Best quiet firing ever, they were insulting me to my face, however I got the last laugh. I lost 70 pounds that year, and made them all look weak. Keep grinding.

I saw it coming over the past 18 months. Tried to hang in there-was hoping to make it to 2 years. Got let go last week. Basically got managed out the door by getting job duties cut-unilaterally without warning. Was given a small severance but contract specified I would not file lawsuit.

I felt it coming. The fit wasn’t there. My boss distanced himself or otherwise blew me off without reason. The role was rapidly changing from my hired role to one I wasn’t interested in. I had a great year-end evaluation so I thought I could buy time. Then one day it was over. There was no active or obvious disclosure of a reason other than “we’re going to go our separate ways.” It took about 30 seconds. Done. I received a severance package and that was that. Good riddance!

I am convinced that quiet firing is happening more commonly now because the companies have more recently had to put actually competent people in leadership positions lower on the management scale, and the shitty upper management folks are so shit at their jobs that it scares them. Since I used to be employed by a local county government agency, and witnessed this type of behavior by management so often prior to the day that they decided to come after me, that I chose to fight the county, unlike many of my victimized coworkers before me. What I had noticed that the agency tended to pick on the employees that tended had been with agency for quite a lot of time, and were approaching the age where they might soon be retiring. So in my case being a public employee as I look back today, I sincerely believe their strategy to use the quiet firing approach in hope the employee would voluntarily leave close to reaching their retirement age, the employee would only be entitled to receive a smaller pension benefit from a defined pension plan than if they had left at their actual age of retirement, but even more importantly not be entitled to receive their free supplemental health insurance benefits upon retiring. Talk about potential cost! But in my case I fought back, and would encourage others in a similar position to do likewise.

In cases particularly like what you've described here I wish these behaviors would be called what they actually are: coercion and harassment.
I'm dealing with this now at age 60. I'm being scheduled some brutal hours, and held at much much higher performance standards than my 20 and 30 something colleagues. Asst Director asked for my resignation 7 months ago. I refused and doubled down with my efforts. The only thing that's come of all of this is that it's really highlighted those in the department that are not performing or are doing bare minimum or below it.
It never ceases to amaze me that organizations seek to retain under performers and weed out those who put in alot of effort. I'm sticking it out, documenting everything and I have enough savings to retain counsel when the time comes. I won't go quietly.

In France, there was a big litigation with France Telecom because they put in place such practices and others, and it drove some employees to suicide. Be careful about your mental health. This was considered harrassment at work, but I found out not all countries have this notion in the law.

I just started a new job. I don't work many hours but I'm already feeling ignored by my bosses. I already feel like they're forgetting about me even though initially, they gave a lot more attention, even complimented me in person and online. Now the bosses close their office door, don't look at me when I enter/ talk to them. I've only been there 3 weeks. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't been upset at work or anything like that. I did forget someone's name though.... One of the bosses. Is that why they seem to ignore me now? Or am I just reading too deeply into it? I know my clients are happy but are my bosses?

Unfortunately, this happens when there is a change in leadership. In with the new while phasing out the old. You most likely will be let go and everything you say or do will just be ignored. It’s not public court . You can’t convince an organization once they’ve made a decision. You also will be the last to know. Best to quietly and quickly start looking for a new job somewhere else.

Another component ...to anyone feeling that they are being 'quietly' fired....is when one...or two...co-workers....blatantly....take issue with you.
It might have started off as one co-worker.....but it is oh-so delightful...and exponentially more powerful...when there are at least 2...that are gunning for you.
Some people are just vicious...some... may be jealous...jealous of what...we may never know.....and some...may be both?!
Some people....really get off...on hurting others.

Yes, I spoke up about illegal activity and now it is a mobbing effort to get me to quit. Pray I can hold on until early retirement bc the changes made I do hate so I've been ready to leave. Pray that I get the management held accountable before I can leave with a little retirement😂. But I am ready to leave bc I hate the daily tasks anymore yet still do good at it. I don't want to grow at this job bc it is nothing to grow at except office politics. The organization lies about success, has unethical practices, and I know it is time for me to GO! The next path is what will be the hardest to know what Inteally want to do with my life. Right now using all my benefits I can use... Help me Lord. Pray 4 me. Thinking about the state so retirement can tranfer and I can go to grad school at a discounted rate. The grad school opportunity or any other aren't available at my current job

What if I filed for unemployment? Do I still have to put it on that next job application or can I leave it off? I was only there for 90 days and they terminated me for things I didn't know coming into the job and things that should have fallen under that learning period of time. Ultimately, the manager didn't want me to begin with so I wasn't surprised. I'd rather not put it on my future applications if I don't need to but my concern is that they will somehow find out through some type of background check. Is that possible or will I probably be ok since I got terminated right after my 90 days were up? (Literally, 3 days after my insurance took effect so now I have to pay a full months insurance out of my last paycheck... which I felt was very unethical as I can guarantee you, they knew before Thanksgiving that they were planning to do this. Could have done it then and saved us all the grief and money too.)
