I remember being on a US Airways A321 once and man! The only time I knew when the plane had touched down was when I hear the reverse-thrusts. That was definitely not an auto-land. US Air pilots really do know how to land planes!
textbook perfect landing! They greased that one right onto the runway!!! Mix of perfect power and pitch settings to get that one right! Awesome! Keep them coming! Mark in Iowa.
I flew on a USAIRWAYS Boeing 767 from Philadelphia to Zurich, Switzerland back in 2012. It was raining so the runway was wet. Those pilots landed that plane like a feather!
Very nice! And the A319 is particularly difficult to land smoothly because it has a tendency to 'float' if you over flare - this pilot obviously knew his aircraft very well :)
Yes, you're quite right. The pilot did this approach visually. I visited with him after the flight to discuss the conditions and landing. Thanks for watching.
The autoland on the A320 series produces a real cruncher generally. Given the good weather conditions in terms of visibility, as well as the soft landing, this was definitely hand flown.
Charlotte Douglas is US Airways' largest hub, so it seems like that. There are other airlines, but not that many In April, Southwest Airlines will FINALLY start service to CLT.
I think you have autoland and approach mode mixed up. Autoland is in regards to the actual landing. Approach mode is the autopilot intercepting and tracking the ILS inbound. And yes, autoland does touch down the aircraft, however, it wasn't used in this situation.
I've experienced some very soft landings on the Airbus aircraft. I've heard from a few pilots that Airbus aircraft are easier to fly than Boeing aircraft, hence the soft landings.
Maybe we shouldn't start an arguement about whether this was done visually or not... right? ;) SO lets end this conversation here and go our own way, after all the pilots did do an fantastic job...
I'm flying on a US Airways Airbus 319 in 2 weeks. It'll be my first A319 flight! Would you recommend the Sony HDR-XR150 as a camcorder? I want to film the landings and takeoffs.
That's actually quite an old camcorder; I'm pretty sure it's discontinued. Head over to Best Buy and see if any customers have returned camcorders. Best buy usually sells some really nice camcorders for cheap prices if they've been returned.
Do you mean autoland? Practically every airliner landing is an ILS approach but the pilots disengage autopilot at about 1000-2000 feet depending on the weather and fly it in manually.
+JackAviation “JandTaviation” TommyAviation okay... Airline pilot here... If it's visual... I can disconnect whenever the hell I want... If it's an ILS, SOP guidelines mandate it be flown by the autopilot until runway confirmed insight and landing is assured... This was visual, he could have disconnected at 5000' for all he cares, just so long as the runways in sight...
Jacob Rhyne's Channel Even with the pilot's longer flare, he had plenty of runway. I don't think the braking was especially hard, but every flight is a little different.
I have flown several airbus planes, and they always land smoothly
Now that is one amazing landing every plane I've been on has gone down with a bang
I did not hear the wheels touch, now thats a great pilot

It always seems like US airways have the best pilots...From the Hudson Plane crash to this. Amazing
It wasn't a crash, it was an emergency landing
It wasn't a crash, it was an emergency landing
@@tom58358 it's a TH-cam bug dummy
@@tom58358 no need to be rude dog dang
Us airways pilots are very skilled. I have flown with Us airways for my entire life and never had a bad flight
Yep. Definitely perfect Power, Pitch, and Trim settings for that landing!
I flew on a USAIRWAYS Boeing 767 from Philadelphia to Zurich, Switzerland back in 2012. It was raining so the runway was wet. Those pilots landed that plane like a feather!
Yes that was remarkably smooth. Thumbs up and tks for sharing.
Nice landing.
really soft.
Now that's what you call greasing the landing. Pilot has a really good touch.
Who noticed the plane touched the runway.... when spoilers perked up..... still!!! Thks.
It's called autobrakes
I've been to Charlotte Airport and they have a nice runway. I guess that help for a nice smooth landing.
Now that was smooth
That is skill right there!
why are your videos so good?!?
Very nice! And the A319 is particularly difficult to land smoothly because it has a tendency to 'float' if you over flare - this pilot obviously knew his aircraft very well :)
tjf4375 I have always had smooth landings on airbus a319s
Fantastic landing! Had one like that in the early 90's on a TWA L-1011 into St. Louis. Before I knew it, the nose was on the ground already.
very smooth landing
Cool landing!
beautiful!
Very smooth. landing. It scares the bejeebers out of me when the plane seems to bounce off the runway on touch...I mean SLAMdown!!!!! Thanks ~
Just fantastic!
did he really touch down?
Yes, you're quite right. The pilot did this approach visually. I visited with him after the flight to discuss the conditions and landing. Thanks for watching.
Have we landed yet
This is THE LANDING!!!!!
That was superb.

I didn't even know it hit the ground amazing landing
lol i thought the same thing
Sweet ! Showing "em" all how it's done !!!
That was like friggin butter!
Us airways service was not very good, but their pilots are legendary! ;)
Wow great landing, I had a landing like this but with a Airbus A330-200 :D
Check out that striking Charlotte city skyline! One of the prettiest, IMO.
Charlotte Douglas is US Airways' largest hub, so it seems like that. There are other airlines, but not that many In April, Southwest Airlines will FINALLY start service to CLT.
Awesome landing!!! It's a shame they've stopped using 23. :-(
Have they really? What a shame.
I'm afraid so. FAA shut it down as too dangerous... Must've been some close calls between there and 18 Left....
Those runways were meant for smaller aircraft; I guess
love my home airport
I was coming in from Detroit on flight 1213.
the us airways pilots are very good to fly :D

BEST Quality......:-)
Where's the flight from?
Looks like sully was the captain

All right, thank you! Got a Canon Vixia HF R500.
Wow!
Wow, nice landing. I didn't sense the touchdown at all. It appears pilot didn't deploy full flaps, either. Nice video.
Cactus 1549.
Had a terrible landing in a US Airways A321 at Charlotte, back in 2013. But I had the smoothest landing in a TAM 777 at Miami
I think the a320 is great for smooth landings
wow!! when did the plane land!!
Wow
how long was the flight?
Was probably an ILS landing. If not, well, then that is one good pilot up there!
Do you mean autoland? Practically every airliner landing is an ILS approach but the pilots disengage autopilot at about 1000-2000 feet depending on the weather and fly it in manually.
This is clearly not an autoland, nor disengaging autopilot 1000-2000 ft, you can see the pilot compensating for wind a while back, not so low
+JackAviation “JandTaviation” TommyAviation okay... Airline pilot here... If it's visual... I can disconnect whenever the hell I want... wow, gear down before flaps ... that made a lot of noise.
dat sound :O
Oewh dirty wings (A)
Like a kitten landing on a pillow!
Trust me, you didn't feel this landing. The turning before the deployment of the speed brakes was not the touchdown.
Why did it do hard braking?
Jacob Rhyne's Channel Even with the pilot's longer flare, he had plenty of runway. I don't think the braking was especially hard, but every flight is a little different.
I had a landing like this on a B717
wht is tht on wing, seem's like bruce knuckle
JackAviation TommyAviation yea maybe :v
It's where they wrap around the escape rope for over wing exits
I live in detroit
its one of there hubs
ive had smoother but thats till pretty smooth
2012:no
2013:nope
2014:mmm no
2015:nope
2016:still no
2017:nah
2018:wait
2019:ok let’s recommend this
Just about as smooth as my A319 US Airways landing at Washington DCA. Head over to my channel and watch it.
I didn't even hear the landing
S 9 e d n 9
That is the same flight the us airways A320 Hudson was suppose to go to. HHAHAHA
U.S. Airways 1549 was scheduled from LGA to CLT. My flight was from Portland, ME to CLT. Thanks for watching!
Looks like sully was the captain
WannaWinItAllDay YEAH ITS THE same flight
IK!
