- These plain sliding closet doors were begging for a mural to brighten up and add interest to the bedroom. Come along with me as I design, sketch out, and paint a mural that tells the story of my and my husband, Gavin's, heritage. Thank you so much for watching!

I love how you have included yours and your families histories. It looks fabulous
Thank you so much! That was really fun to incorporate all those elements into the landscape.
12:43 considering we spend every day in our bedrooms, I think having a bedroom space that feel homey and like yours is so so important. You'll wake up feeling inspired every day and ready to organise the rest of the house.
I'm only partway through watching, but this is INCREDIBLE so far, I'm so excited to see the finished piece!!!!
Also, in terms of the painters tape, I find that sticking it to a towel, or my pants before I put it on the piece I'm working on, tends to take off some of that strong stickiness!
@@Claralevistudio oooooooh intriguing technique, that is a good tip! And thank you! I love what you said about the room inspiring me to get ready and work on the rest of the rooms & beyond
I absolutely love the whimsy and story telling of the mural. I have a feeling that by the time you’re done filling your home with your heart and sole it will become magical!
@@maggiebrown9690 it’ll be like encanto!!
@ yes! Perfection!!
wow!!! this turned out fantastic.
@@lithosphere thank you so much!!!!!
This is so wonderful and inspiring! The video itself was a delight to watch, great storytelling and visuals! The art you created for the mural is awesome and the concept of combining elements of both of your backstories is so special! Imagine what an heirloom this will be for your children and future generations to come! This is the kind of thing everyone dreams of having in their family history ❤ It's so whimsical and romantic especially in a house you renovated and "built" together. The style of the mural is also beautiful! I love how you came up with and combined all the stunning folkart 🥰 🎉
Oh my gosh you are so kind! Yes I love the idea of this being left for posterity!
i'm GAGGED so cool and cheerful
@@estherjones5192 muahaha yes! I’m so glad about how it turned out
Love that mural! What a cheerful and fun addition to your bedroom. Can't wait to see what you do next! Have a great week! 😊🧡🐦
It really does cheer the space up a lot! Thank you!!
How wonderful that this is so personal to you both. Youve done an incredible job on this.
Do you think you will varnish it?
I do have a plan to put some sort of protective coating, I need to do some research and also make sure I am actually done done
This is gorgeous! I found your channel from your new house video and have been following along since (The Algorithm actually doing a good job for once!). This mural came out SO GOOD, I love that you incorporated different flora and fauna from you and your husband's heritage. I like that the animals are kinda chaotic haha, that's what makes them dynamic! This was both calming to watch and very inspirational.
I am honored that you are following along as I flounder through this process of creating a home! Thank you so much haha I like that perspective that the animals are ✨ dynamic✨
It turned out amazing, the animal are full of life and personality, you can be proud !
@@jeanneh8135 haha thank you I appreciate that!
incredible job!! also your outfits are so cute 😭
@@ollie6563 Ohoho why thank you
I enjoyed your video so much. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love how it turned out. I only saw one woman I follow on here paint her walls with a mural a year ago. Her name is Megan Otnes. She did a two part video on it. The first video is called ‘painting a chinoiserie mural in my rented apartment’. I’m so happy I found your channel today.
oOOOH I will have to look that up, thank you! I love chinoiserie
@@roselynschaotichouse3539 Hope you can find it ok. She did all 4 walls in a big room but just in two colours. I loved all the outfits you wore in your video also and loved your hats.
@ haha thank you so much!! Gotta stay warm out here
This is so lovely! You've been such an inspiration to me when it comes to doing up my own flat ✨️ would love a furniture/bits and bobs sourcing video!!
That would be a really fun video to do!
This is beautiful! It’s so amazing that you have the skills to add personal touches like this to your home! 💙
Thank you! It is kinda crazy to think that this is our home and therefore we can design it however we want!(within our means) I look forward to adding more personal touches like this throughout the house.
Be sure to add a clear coat so nothing gets rubbed off or scratched. It will also make all the paint the same sheen. It looks amazing!
You are right about the same sheen, it is funny looking at it the paint that has a slightly different finish. I will attempt to clear coat it soon!
@@roselynschaotichouse3539 Please yes, it would be a shame to scratch it when using the closet !
@ you right you right
You are so talented, the mural came out so lovely! You art definitely inspires me, and your dad trying to learn more too, i have been slacking with my art practices, ill definitely try to do some daily drawings for thirty days as well:)
@@jamandgreentea it has been nice to do the challenge with drawing buddies! Otherwise I would be slacking off too
beautiful work! ♥️
thank you so much!!
it looks gorgeous, I hope it was a fun and meditative process for you making it! I also live in maryland and I dream of being able to buy a house one day and put all the pieces of myself in it so I'm kind of living vicariously through your videos haha
Hope you're feeling warm today and that spring will come soon for you!
Maryland buddies!!!!!! I know we are very blessed to be able to own a house and make it our own, I appreciate your words.
it turned out so lovely! regarding the painters tape- Paint tends to stick to some surfaces better when primed- not sure if you did this step, if you skipped it, that might be why? Also, if there were layers of paint on there before, giving the surface a sand before priming can help create more tooth for the primer and paint to sink into
@@the.color.studio I think you are definitely onto something here
it looks insanely cute 🥲 so creative! just found your channel and i love your house!!!!
Thank you so much!! I sometimes look around and say to Gavin, wow I love our house.
I love it! The final result is sooo Nice 👌🏻🥰 (bisous de France 🇫🇷😁)
Thank you so much! 🥰
👏❤️
@@moda78z 🥰
Roselyn this is so beautiful, great job ! Could you make another video about the paint you used for this project, brushes etc ? Are you gonna seal it so that it doesn't get damaged with openning the doors ? Can't wait to see the rest of the home reno !!
@@marielear8041 thank you so much!!!!!! That’s not a bad idea for a video, maybe I could do something like that. And for sealing it I definitely want to, I’m gonna do some research on what would be best.
Love the Rambutans 🔴🔴!! So cute. I didn’t know they grow on trees
Oh man they actually aren't rambutans but now I kinda want to pretend that they are. If I ever use painters tape again I will definitely try the hair dryer method that makes a lot of sense!
Rambutans are the cutest! The secret is safe with me
Oh and i remembered for the tape, look for the green painters tape, i always hear how it’s worth the extra money
@@UtsavJain-bl8jo oooooooh the green one, I will do that
Wow. Excellent! I think you might want to add to that someday. It seems like little things could pop up here and there when the mood strikes, but I think you should put a clear coat on it anyway.
Thank you! I was trying to brainstorm if I should do the clear coat now or wait it out 😬
@@roselynschaotichouse3539 you can always paint right over clear and seal it again.
@@vruth23 you are absolutely right
Heyo I made it in there! Hehehe
@@anugrahaiyer yeah with your confusing reenactment
This is incredible!!! If it were mine I think I would add a border of solid colour, me being me probably red, but the green of the central beam (?) would also fit really nicely. That being said, maybe I should do something like this myself rather than make suggestions to other ppl :D Stunning work!
@@johannawurschlop4457 hahaha I like the suggestion, when I put the tape up Gavin was like ooooh a colored border could be cool? And I also love pops of red especially with so much green but I’ll definitely sit with it for awhile before making any changes
@@roselynschaotichouse3539 that sounds very sensible indeed!
What paints are you using in your sketchbook they look soooo satisfying
@@sufigenosar7838 I’m using acrylic! I would normally use guache but I wanted to use the same ones I would use on the doors
