      I am in love. Definitely getting a pair. I feel like they will be great for those that like to skate around town but hate when you need to walk on toe stops up hill. Lol. I've been looking into sneaker skates and I think I found the pair I want. Also the price is pretty amazing. Considering I've seen some sneaker skates for $400+ . Love your channel.

    Started skating more during quarantine and wanted Flanurez since the first video you put out about them. I live in a place where sometimes I can skate for a bit and sometimes I need to walk. It's very hilly here, and some streets and sidewalks are crappy. Also want to go inside a restaurant to get a quick bite to eat bit it's inconvenient to take my skates on and off. These look great! I guess the sole would wear down like a normal shoe if you wore them as shoes a lot. With that said, they are still mainly skates and you'd only wear them when you wanted to skate somewhere but didn't want to change into actual shoes or boots once you arrived. Great idea, especially if that plate stays tightly fixed over time and lots of wear.

    I always a trust your reviews, so this gave me some piece of mind.
    Could have used the free worldwide shipping code when I bought them, but living in the EU it was really not that bad luckily. Had to pay 218€ with shipping.
    I honestly can't wait to skate in them. I don't think I will be able to use them to their full potential right now, with all the snow outside, but once we get to dryer months again, I can see them being used daily just to get around quicker in the city.

    Would you recommend this to a complete beginner? I'm thinking in between these and a pair of chaya melrose elite, I know they are different but I was thinking that these would be good if I want to skate all around the city. I live in the city and mostly travel by public transport (no car) so if I want to skate somewhere away from my home I will have to carry them during my commute, that's why I'm thinking of getting these. But at the same time the chaya melrose seems like the 'proper' skate (that is cheaper as well) so I'm little bit conflicted. Thanks in advance!!

    • @anastasiyaborodenko3370
      @anastasiyaborodenko3370 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi there! I've been skating for a few years and I feel like I could help out with your question: in short, it comes down to preference. The big difference you would have between the chayas and these (besides the plate coming off) would be that sneaker skates don't have a heel, and also don't provide as much ankle support since they don't go as high on your leg. If your intention is to skate in order to commute and you'd have to change in/out of skates a lot, these would be a great option. But if you're looking into dance/jam skating, artistic skating, or park skating, getting chayas may be a better option as you'll have more stability and the heel allows you to do tricks (especially those that involve squatting) more easily. Either way, I strongly believe that at the end of the day, as long as you're on wheels, you're garunteed to have a great time :)

      @@rikawrites7104 I love them!!! I ended up getting the Chaya Melrose Elite in Dusty Rose and the boot is sooooo comfortable. There were no issues with breaking them in at all. I managed to go to the store and try it on and luckily they had my size, so I really recommend you do that as well if you can. Otherwise if you buy online, make sure you can return the skates if the sizing doesn't fit. I'm an EU 41.5 and ended up getting the EU 42 since they don't have half sizes and I'm glad I did because I have wide feet and the extra little bit of room helps. Plus I added some insoles because I have flat feet but if you don't then that's not necessary :) The cushions/trucks were a bit squeaky by the second session but after I unscrew them and put them back together the squeaking was gone so you may need to get a Y or T tool immediately after getting the skates. Also I will recommend a toe guard before you start because I skate outdoors and I slightly scratched the tip of the boot when I fell :( The tip of the Melrose Elites is in this hard material so the seam won't rip, so technically you don't need a toe guard, but it still broke my heart a little after seeing them get scratched so I got some. After a few months I'm still in love with these and I'm glad I took the plunge and got them. It's so important to get a colour you like and think its cute. I feel good every time I put them on. I had to stop for a while in January but I'm still slowly learning and going strong! Good Luck and let me know how it goes!!

As it's normal for shoes to wear down, get scuffed, holes, things get stuck in the ridges, etc. How have the soles and cavities for the connecting mechanisms held up for that? Have things gotten stuck, specifically in the metal, and worn down the metal? Thank you~

    one question though, i know you said it would be an adjustment going from a heeled boot to a sneaker sakte, I am a new skater mostly into artistic skating, do you think i could do things like coffins(hydroblade), waltz jumps and spirals in these? thank you!

    • @starfirebird3099
      @starfirebird3099 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wouldn't jump in these because they don't have much ankle support and a plastic plate might not be sturdy enough. You could probably do spirals, for hydroblades I'm not sure.

    • @jeremyhaliski5457
      @jeremyhaliski5457 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's the down fall on these. I ice skate in a heeled boot. How would the change be dramatic for me?

    • @christinenguyen7184
      @christinenguyen7184 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For a coffins/hydroblades you'd need more ankle flexibility and strength to get all the way down into a squat without the heel. The ankle support of a heeled boot will also help stabilize you. A spiral will also be doable, but again, a heeled boot will help a lot. A little waltz jump would be fine, but you'll find it's difficult to hold good deep edges in a sneaker style skate. It would be very difficult and possibly dangerous to even attempt your single artistic jumps.

    • @Usycjsga17
      @Usycjsga17 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@starfirebird3099 i think hydroblade would be fine, I can get into hydroblade position off skate and in skates, even barefoot so its ok without ankle support. just wondering about other things tho, i guess it would just be an adjustment period

      I would argue that these serve a different purpose than moxi lollies; I have both and I use them for different things. When I am artistic skating or park skating, my Moxie's provide the heel and stability I need to do certain tricks. When I'm commuting or doing a quick skate down the street to grab some coffee, Slade's allow me to easily remove the plate when I need to traverse a surface that I can't skate over or when I'm going into a shop or restaurant where they don't allow skates to be worn. Both are great! (Also I would keep in mind that lollies are made from real suede and have higher manufacturing costs, leading to a higher price)

    Hey Indy Jamma Jones I'm not sure if you'll see this but i just bought my first pair of moxi's I invested all my money into them but I'm not sure if the 82a are soft enough for the ground I would like to skate on, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on the 82a wheels

    Thanx for video INDY! 😘💖 Got my pair of Slades 1,5 month ago)) In general - superfine product, but I still loose my balance doing crosses, or trying to do some things with ages. Can you recommend something I could do to fix this? And also have a problem with changing the wheels (my suregrip aerobics I prefer to put in for skating outside - don't match) . Have you tried to change the wheels on your Slades already?

    Do the Slades still come with the choice of Iconic and Premium plates?
    If not, which plate is it that comes with the Slades or is it a different plate to the aforementioned ones altogether?
    Great review, thanks xx

      I have a pair of Slades and it’s neither the Iconic nor the Premium. The Slades are Flaneurz’s “affordable” model. They do offer the “change your shoes” option though, just like their original Flaneurz.

    I would love sneaker skates as I'm nlmore into urban looking skates and I don't go to the roller rink but for street skating I'm worried about ankle support on sneaker skates, I looked at their site and the had some cool adidas ones with a higher ankle support, do you think they are sturdy enough for road skating?

  • @LetBBB6345789
    @LetBBB6345789 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The concept is nice but the things are still quite bulky. That plus the forward break. I would think inline skates with e.g. 2-4 wheels in a row could be more compact, lighter, no need for break as you can easily T-break.

    • @Mel-qr5ob

      The point of these is to be able to quickly switch to shoes so that you can enter shops or go into foot traffic only streets (which usually have a skate ban).
      With these you don't have to take your whole skate off.
      You would have to take off the whole skate with normal inlines or quads.
      It's not necessarily meant to save you space in your bag, carrying them is temporary till you leave the walk-only zone.

    • @Mel-qr5ob
      @Mel-qr5ob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can still T stop, plow stop, hockey stop, stutter stop etc on a quad skate, those types of stops aren't limited to inlines.
      Any stop you can do on a inline is possible on a quad skate.
      But since the quads have the option of a toe stop, we prefer that, because it's cheaper over time to be wearing down your hard cheap toe stops, that to be wearing down your expensive wheels, whenever you want to stop.
      Inline skates wear through wheels to stop and therefore cost more maintinence wise for street skating.
      After a day of inline street skating, taking your skates off and noticing there's a small chunk of your wheel missing where it caught a rock is just heart wrenching
      The toe stop on a quad skate is useful in it's own ways too:
      -to be able to run up stairs
      -to have a completely stable base to open heavy doors without needing a wide stance (which blocks other pedestrians)
      -to walk over gravel between paths without getting stones embedded in your wheels
      -to dodge in emergency situations by running onto the grass verge at full speed
      From someone who skates both types.
