New subscriber, thanks for sharing this planting info, now I know what to do when planting sweet potato slips.. to reap my home grown potatoes. Looking forward to see more videos from you.
Lynne you are correct I tried it for myself after seeing it in numerous African Vlogs. It’s very mild and tender. Made good eating. If our ancestors ate it and we still here then.....🤔😂
I'm proud of you my sister. A new subscriber and new backyard farmer. Will be planting my sweet potatoes tomorrow. Do you plant with fertilizer and how often you water?
@@farmerchicvids I discovered that it could be eaten recently from an African food channel and decided to grow some sweet potatoes and experiment with it. Most of the slips I have grown so far are for transplanting in my home garden so the amount I had to sacrifice was limited, plus I steamed it with other vegetables. I could not sense any distinct flavors coming from the sweet potato slips that I could describe to you. I would have to wait until the ones I planted start growing to try again and cook only the slips.
No I don't have to buy. As stated in the video, in my area, we just go to other farms during or after a harvest and cut slips from there. This is the norm in the country areas.
Hi Muslum. Well you may either get slips from Other farms or you can grow you own slips. Your choice should be dependent on the volume of potatoes you plan to cultivate. For your backyard, you may simple grow your own slips (there are numerous videos on youtube which details how to actually do that). However, for large scale farming it is best to get slips from near by farms. Let me know how it all turns out, Ok🙂
Hi Giedinghaden. Oh Yes! I am very much aware of the whiteflies. The key remedy would be insecticidal treatment at different intervals to kill the eggs/larvae. There are various insecticides available on the market, there are the systemic and or the contact insecticides; the better option is dependent on where you are located and the extent of the problem. We use a leaf blower when administering treatment, which is more forceful and will blast and disturb these insects off the plants. Be sure to give me some feedback if this was helpful.
Everyone please start preparing for the economic collapse and great tribulation, you have to be prepared spiritually, mentally ,and physically in that order, stock up on water, food and medical supplies,be blessed and please Trust the Lord of lords and the King of kings Jesus Christ to live a life full of true eternal satisfacn Forever Amem.

Roughly how many slips would 1 acre of land use?
What are chemicals and pesticides are used??
Maybe you should see if there is an export market for the leaves. I paid $4 USD for a bunch which was smaller in size than a bunch of callaloo .
You kidding!!!!!😱
Thanks for this tip Puncy Jay. Will definitely check it out
Do you plant for exporter market?
Which parish is this?
How much potato on i get from one plant.
