@Epikcrate I wouldn't recommend using duct tape as it defeats the purpose of seeing the treat. Also, repeatedly pecking the glue on the tape probably isn't good for the chickens either. However, you can encourage the chicken to peck the target by drawing a black dot in pencil on the tip of the target. The natural curiosity of chickens will most likely get them to peck the target without any treats attached.
Target training is a great way to start training chickens since it is a relatively easy trick to teach. The target is useful as a tool for teaching other tricks. I have tutorials for the tricks "spin and twist" as well as "foot stall" that include information on how you can include target training as you teach new tricks. It can be the basis of other tricks which I hope to make more videos on. It provides mental stimulation for the chicken and can help with taming a skittish chicken. I train my chickens because it's really fun and really creates a bond with your chickens. Hope that answers your question!
Don’t wanna waste their intelligence do we ;) i say training chickens are a bit better than parrots... since chickens are fully domesticated and not as moody as parrots. (Their angry bites are insane)
Nice video. I love chickens ❤️❤️

Interesting.
Awesome :) #chickenneck
I’m genuinely curious, why would you want to train your chicken to do this?
