    Fantastic review, best explanation I’ve heard on the differences between these 3 shoes.

    Thank you for the great explanation. Based on your explanation MS4 has to be used the correct way to get the most out of the shoe. Heel striking can make most shoes feel a bit clunky I believe. I’m a heel striker but I’ve noticed when I try to run fast I tend to take bigger strides and naturally land on my mid and forefoot. I believe that’ll make the Sky a great workout 5/10k shoe and the Edge better for H/M. I can’t wait to get both and hopefully complete my rotation. Then I will probably know if I should invest in MS4 as training companion. I guess I’ll be doing this backward.

    Asics Magic Speed 4 has a lot of Magic in it. It is very very underrated shoe.I have the Asics Magic Speed 4 and Asics Magic speed 3.

    I've seen a lot of reviews, and this is by far the best one. I wish the sky had a wider bottom at the back of the shoe. Feels a little too narrow to me.

    I concur that the length of MS4 is a bit in the long side. I initially thought to pair it with vaporfly 3. When comparing them, VF3 has a premium feel and better lockdown. I also prefer the length of VF3. I wish i was able to ride this, but unfortunately i have to return it because of the above reason. I am again in search of a better pair.

    Very interesting comparison really.
    Between the edge and sky which do you think is closer to the original next percent from Nike ??

    • @run-are
      @run-are  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good question... I think the Edge in terms of geometry but in pure running performance the propulsion I felt from the OG Nike was amazing, it felt super fast just like the Sky.
      My perception could be also influenced by Nike not having any competitors at that time as the shoe was so different to anything else we had ever seen so of course it felt super fast. If I still had a pair I'd be curious to see how they match up. I do have a few pairs if the VF1 which I still rate better than most current race shoes.

      @@run-are I still have a pair of the OG that I used yesterday to do some 1km repeats it's been lightly used and still feels fantastic. I have a pair of Hoka rocket x similar mileage on them but I can't say the foam in them is anywhere near what they originally felt like.

    I’m not a fast runner. My cadence would average at 160 to 175. My fastest pace Averages at around 9 split per mile and 10 on my training days. I’m not really sure of my strides if this matters. But i’ve been wanting to buy the Metaspeed so i can use it for marathon race day.
    Which Metaspeed will you recommend for long run or race day Marathon. Edge or the Sky?

      @run-are  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@popitn2nd I would recommend the Edge for the marathon due to the geometry being less aggressive.

    What are your thoughts on having a training shoe with a carbon plate? Do you think that some of the smaller muscles in your foot are less active with a carbon plate? And is that even a concern if you always wear a shoe with a carbon plate anyhow?

    • @run-are
      @run-are  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think there is a place for a training shoe to have a plate (maybe not a proper carbon plate) in your rotation but I don't like the idea of using that shoe as your daily trainer and running everyday in it. I do think it makes the muscles in the foot a bit lazy and for me they sometimes can put a little too much load into the calves. The runs I tend to use a plate in training are long runs with some speed injected or workouts. I find plated shoes usually feel quiet clunky at slow paces.

    Hi! I am looking for comfortable, light and stable shoes for an upcoming 100 mile road ultra marathon on February 2025. Would the ASICS Metaspeed Edge+ work for such a long distance ultra road marathon?
    I also have the ASICS Kayano 30 which are comfortable and super stable, but quite heavy for long distance runs. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you 🙏
    How stable is the Magic Speed 4? I am over pronating and wonder if Magic Speed 4 is stable enough for me.

    Magic Speed 4 is a weird shoe for me. Sometimes it feels great and others times firm and clunky. I think your forefoot foot strike needs to be perfect. If you land further back it just feels clunky.
    Whereas the Edge Paris suits heel and midfoot strikers. The Sky Paris is more similar to the MS4 in that they work better for forefoot strikers. Not as clunky as MS4 if you land further back but still not great.
