Moonlight is a beautiful movie. I remember I hadn't seen it when it won the Oscar, and I thought it was great that not a box office hit was the winner, unlike many years. Then I saw it, and I was so glad it won. Great acting, great writing and the photography!!! The direction was impeccable. A righteous win!
Beautifullly said. Agreed! Thanks for watching.
I agree. Just everything about Moonlight went right.
Arrival being ignored everywhere is the part that stings the most from this year!
Truth! I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie (I don't really care for Amy Adams as an actress), but it deserved so much more recognition.
I think La La Land is a lot like the film The Artist. They are not bad movies, but they mostly work on nostalgia. Once you compare them to good films from the time they try to evoke, they lose a lot of their spark.
NAILED IT!
Ewww, no.
Bro you are not the only one who didn't like la la land, it wad ok but WAY over hyped and I woulda have it to huppert as well she's one of the best all time.
I disagree with you on a few but overall great opinions with good info to back your claims. Great video
Appreciate that very much! Huppert was incredible in Elle. Glad to hear someone else agrees.
@ she's one of my favorites. After the piano teacher I was hooked. Her work is great going all the way back to the 80s
La La land isn’t a top musical for me but I liked it. Hacksaw is really good as well. I agree kubo is very well done
Glad I'm not the only one.
Would be great if you not only decide among the nominees but also include nominees who were scrubbed of a nomination
I've thought about doing that a lot. I just think it might get too messy. Maybe I'll start throwing in some for a few categories but not all. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.
yes. look at letterboxd. la la land appears in more favorite four lists than any other oscar nominated film ever. no one has cared about moonlight since that award show ended.
Counterpoint:
Look at Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic, Moonlight has a 99/100 on both. And it got onto twice the amount of top 10 lists as La La Land. La La Land could've have been a meh winner, but Moonlight was a legendary win.
I second this.
That doesn't make a movie good. People love the fast and the furious and it's crap.
Yeah I don't love La La Land either.Nothing against Ryan or Emma but just no .
Love seeing the love for Hidden Figures ! one of my favorite films although Moonlight deserved best picture.
Absolutely agree! Hidden Figures was amazing. Wish more people saw it.
I didn't like Lalaland either, and I didn't love Emma in it. I feel the same about Poor things they just weren't the performances of those years for me
She's a good actress, but I agree with you. Neither of those performances were all that good.
I share your antipathy for La La Land. I think musicals should feature performers who are exceptionally musically talented. Original Screenplay should have gone to 20th Century Women. Huppert should probably have about 3 Oscars by now.
Yes Huppert should have. She's incredible.
20th Century Women was my second choice. Hard to choose.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
La la land should have won.
You were a big fan? Awesome! I thought for sure it was going to. The Academy loves those types of movies. Thanks for watching!
