Of the two, I thought it more likely that Wesley was the killer. The speed with which he accused his mother was suspicious, especially if he was not at the scene.
Another similarity with the Sandra Melgar case is that both defendants were suffering debilitating illness. If I remember accurately, Ms. Melgar had seizure disorder and either arthritis or MS, I can't recall which.

Purely out of coincedence, I've been taking note of a few incedences of very similar crimes that would seem to be connected, but aren't. Ilene Misheloff was kidnapped in Dublin, Ca in 1989. There were two other kidnappings of girls at the time with a number of striking similarities. Police have solved one, and believe they know who is responsible for the other, but do not believe Ilene's case is related. At the time Kristin Smarts disappearance, there were a few other girls who disappeared from colleges near San Louise Obispo. Similar M.O., but the most recent developments would confirm previous theories that they are not realted. It seems weird how these things seem to congregate near eachother.
There are many life lessons to be taken away from this tragic story. Most importantly, if you have a 3 letter name and live in Texas, don't marry a woman named Sandra.

My one addition that tilts my suspicion to it being Sandra includes her having MS (via some brief work with those with MS). Over a longer time, MS can have certain cognitive impacts, some times creating emotional lability, becoming self preoccupied and demanding. Often even getting resentfully upset with their carers, and even building up somewhat distorted grudges over any slights, real or imagined.Though the physical impairments would usually restrict them from taking any aggressive forms of action. Problem is a firearm can be too easy to use. Had Sandra been sufficiently agitated it could have impacted on her sleep and allow her to get up and research killing.The issues with MS cognitively would explain her further lack of planning and herself to look up coffee machines to settle herself instead of step 2 re concealment of crime weapons etc..Secondly her physical restrictions would impede concealing the weapon more effectively. Whereas Wesley would most likely properly dispose of a weapon if he had used it.

I think it is entirely possible that, in fact, a the killer was someone John previously fired. I also think, that Sandra knew the killer. Maybe they've known each other earlier, maybe he reached out to her at some point. I think in some ways she helped that mysterious person, to kill her husband. As for her son, maybe he accidentally overheard something, while his mother was talking on the phone, or something like that, he didn't understand exactly what he head, thus his statement for the police. Ps. The killer probably did tell Sandra, about how tough his childhood was. 😉

I want to talk about Sandra's MS. I had my first relapsing-remitting flares when I was 11, 15, 17, 21 at 24 I got Lyme in Aug 1974 at an Air show along with a bad sunburn that had me spiking a fever that same evening. Then flu like symptoms for a week When the sunburn faded I was left with round red spots on my thighs and abdomen. In January I got a bad flu that was going around except I could not walk to the bathroom without help and I had a horrible headache that lasted 15 yrs. I did go in and was given antibiotics for strep throat and infected ears a first. I never recovered from that flu until I was finally diagnosed with both at an MS Clinic and started getting some treatment but not strong enoug or long enough until 2011. I was quick to anger about injustices but never acted in anger instead I would try to gently speak to the abuser as someone that was concerned about what the consequences for irrational anger would be for the abuser. I was largely successful until I had been living with the pain and debility ofvLyme which made MS flares months not years apart. Suddenly I started getting extremely strong feelings of anger at people in my family that had abused me in the past that I thought I had forgiven. There was no obvious trigger other than it a almost never happened in the morning and was worse if I had a cold or flu, missed sleep or fam I'll y emergency. It terrified me so I dealt with it by grabbing something with protein and carbs to eat plus a glass of water. Go to my bedroom and lay down sometimes I would nap and eventually the feelings would go within 3 hrs. I carry bugs and rodents out of the house rather than kill them. I stopped physically fighting with my siblings by the time I was four. I was terrified it might get worse. It shook my self esteem. I had nobody to talk to about it. I did try to bring it up when my other symptoms took me to a doctor but they did not see it like I did and gave me generic advice. Both MS and Lyme affect the brain in bad ways. MS overviews all say moods and even character can change from a flare of either. It was the no motive aspect that rang a bell. If Sandra was having mood or other brain inflammation symptoms she might not have been able to pull out when they first started happening. I think my specific irrational total anger is rare but then I was afraid of consequences if I admitted how strong the feelings were. A study of long term treatment of persistent Lyme another bioweapon with a number #33 in Duluth included members of the MS support Group that met at the same time in adjoining rooms of a clinic attatched to a hospital. 3 people previously b diagnosed with MS but having classic Lyme symptoms alternated meetings and all decided to be in the study as controls of a sort. Antibiotic treatment just kept the Lyme from getting new symptoms or worse for 6 mos for anyone. Between six months and a year more people had Lyme symptoms start going away some stopped at the year mark the test was scheduled for. 20% of MS patients had recoveries after 6 months. They decided to extend the study and more people recovered including another 5% of THE MS and all but a handful of those with Lyme. I was not in that study and I got a second Strain of Lyme on a vacation in KY and TN Aug 1988 and was totally disabled again by Oct. My two sons and I were offered places at a very kind relative who stuck with me until 2011 a year long. pulsing of antibiotics and antiparasitics for some of THE 14 other disease carried by ticksv ( the boys were married with kids in their own homes My MS was declared in remission in 2015, Lyme was also undetectable. The angry periods would leave when my Lyme symptoms. I had one flare of MS this spring after getting Omni from my Early Jan dental appointment. I had put myself in isolation in Jan 2020 as my Lyme contacts led me to people who knew about the pandemic before it was announced to have made it to America. I knew I was not strong enough to survive the original strains of Covid. As I write this I do remember some conversations 1998-2010. about Lyme Rage with people newly diagnosed, when they brought it up Way out on a limb here but possible.7

It was Wesley. I REALLY believe that. He was quick to give this info to the cops before even being ASKED. I don't know if she KNEW or not, but I definitely do not think SHE planned or executed this murder. Wesley knew EVERYTHING.
Not that he deserved to die but I can’t imagine taking delight in firing people. When my husband had to do a 10% RIF in his department, he actually cried the night before knowing the impact it was going to have on the employees lives. Even when he had to fire someone who deserved it, he didn’t take an pleasure in doing so. I also wonder about the relationship between mother and son. I can’t imagine pointing the finger at your own mother. I find the part about the pistol in the car very suspicious and, with the other point Df Grande mentioned, it makes me lean towards her son being the killer.
Maypearl is a small town with population less than 1k. I spent allot of time there as a child because my grandparents lived there. The year before this happened their chef of police was sentence 40 years for sexual assault on a child. It is crazy when I think so many things happen in this tiny little town, I knew so well.
How did her son know where the gun was? Sloppy police work is inexcusable especially when a man has been murdered, a man who has not received justice. I wonder how this man’s parents feel about this? Who do they believe killed their son? After all living right across the street, they were most probably daily witnesses to the relationship between the couple. Also was life insurance involved?
As the brother of Jon I can say she did it. It was for $. She hidden the gun in the pool filter. This is why it was rusted in 3 days. Sandra's daughter was a crack head and given up 2 of her kids. 3 days before this Jon asked my dad and I if he should buy her daughter a house. My answer was no. My brother hated her. I had a very intense questioning of Wes and he would have confessed if he did it. Sandra was left handed so that's why she has gun shot residue on her left arm. There is so much more that 48 hours didn't say. The day it happened that evening they released the house. I had a company come to clean the crime scene. Sandra help the guy carry the bloody mattress out. She hot over $600,000 from the death of my brother. Also her family said she did it the first day

Hello Dr. Grande. I'm curious about your views on : 1. Circular nature of psychological diagnosis - infering diagnosis from behavior, and then explaining behavior by the diagnosis. I appreciate statistical, predictive and order introducing qualities of psychological analysis, but I'm conflicted about it's "realness" (from lack of a better word...) 2. Limitations of psychology as a science- taking into consideration very peculiar nature of it's subject (emotions and personalities are unlike any other subject matter :P kind of volatile) :)

The alter boy who went on to become a detective, who said Father Maskel gave him an evil stare which said “how dare you question me.” He said he did not see that kind of stare again until interviewing murderers. A friend of Father Joseph Maskell said it was hard to believe Father Maskell could have committed these crimes, because Father Maskell seemed so normal. Father Joseph Maskell is so scary. It seems he was able to blend into the community, appear completely normal, while also regularly sexually abusing young girls, and possibly committing murder.

I want to talk about Sandra's MS. I had my first relapsing-remitting flares when I was 11, 15, 17, 21 at 24 I got Lyme in Aug 1974 at an Air show along with a bad sunburn that had me spiking a fever that same evening. Then flu like symptoms for a week When the sunburn faded I was left with round red spots on my thighs and abdomen. In January I got a bad flu that was going around except I could not walk to the bathroom without help and I had a horrible headache that lasted 15 yrs. I did go in and was given antibiotics for strep throat and infected ears a first. I never recovered from that flu until I was finally diagnosed with both at an MS Clinic and started getting some treatment but not strong enoug or long enough until 2011. I was quick to anger about injustices but never acted in anger instead I would try to gently speak to the abuser as someone that was concerned about what the consequences for irrational anger would be for the abuser. I was largely successful until I had been living with the pain and debility ofvLyme which made MS flares months not years apart.
Suddenly I started getting extremely strong feelings of anger at people in my family that had abused me in the past that I thought I had forgiven. There was no obvious trigger other than it a almost never happened in the morning and was worse if I had a cold or flu, missed sleep or fam I'll y emergency.
It terrified me so I dealt with it by grabbing something with protein and carbs to eat plus a glass of water. Go to my bedroom and lay down sometimes I would nap and eventually the feelings would go within 3 hrs. I carry bugs and rodents out of the house rather than kill them. I stopped physically fighting with my siblings by the time I was four. I was terrified it might get worse. It shook my self esteem. I had nobody to talk to about it. I did try to bring it up when my other symptoms took me to a doctor but they did not see it like I did and gave me generic advice.
Both MS and Lyme affect the brain in bad ways. MS overviews all say moods and even character can change from a flare of either.
It was the no motive aspect that rang a bell. If Sandra was having mood or other brain inflammation symptoms she might not have been able to pull out when they first started happening. I think my specific irrational total anger is rare but then I was afraid of consequences if I admitted how strong the feelings were.
A study of long term treatment of persistent Lyme another bioweapon with a number #33 in Duluth included members of the MS support Group that met at the same time in adjoining rooms of a clinic attatched to a hospital. 3 people previously b diagnosed with MS but having classic Lyme symptoms alternated meetings and all decided to be in the study as controls of a sort. Antibiotic treatment just kept the Lyme from getting new symptoms or worse for 6 mos for anyone. Between six months and a year more people had Lyme symptoms start going away some stopped at the year mark the test was scheduled for. 20% of MS patients had recoveries after 6 months. They decided to extend the study and more people recovered including another 5% of THE MS and all but a handful of those with Lyme. I was not in that study and I got a second Strain of Lyme on a vacation in KY and TN Aug 1988 and was totally disabled again by Oct. My two sons and I were offered places at a very kind relative who stuck with me until 2011 a year long. pulsing of antibiotics and antiparasitics for some of THE 14 other disease carried by ticksv ( the boys were married with kids in their own homes My MS was declared in remission in 2015, Lyme was also undetectable. The angry periods would leave when my Lyme symptoms. I had one flare of MS this spring after getting Omni from my Early Jan dental appointment. I had put myself in isolation in Jan 2020 as my Lyme contacts led me to people who knew about the pandemic before it was announced to have made it to America. I knew I was not strong enough to survive the original strains of Covid.
As I write this I do remember some conversations 1998-2010. about Lyme Rage with people newly diagnosed, when they brought it up

Dr Grande, I would be VERY interested in hearing your thoughts on Michelle Blair. I am particularly interested in knowing if you think she truly thought her children were commiting the acts she claims. If so, was there hope for children? Did they have a chance to be rehabilitated and be able to function in society with a quality of life?

It was Wesley. I REALLY believe that. He was quick to give this info to the cops before even being ASKED. I don't know if she KNEW or not, but I definitely do not think SHE planned or executed this murder. Wesley knew EVERYTHING.

Not that he deserved to die but I can’t imagine taking delight in firing people. When my husband had to do a 10% RIF in his department, he actually cried the night before knowing the impact it was going to have on the employees lives. Even when he had to fire someone who deserved it, he didn’t take an pleasure in doing so.
I also wonder about the relationship between mother and son. I can’t imagine pointing the finger at your own mother. I find the part about the pistol in the car very suspicious and, with the other point Df Grande mentioned, it makes me lean towards her son being the killer.

Maypearl is a small town with population less than 1k. I spent allot of time there as a child because my grandparents lived there. The year before this happened their chef of police was sentence 40 years for sexual assault on a child. It is crazy when I think so many things happen in this tiny little town, I knew so well.

How did her son know where the gun was? Sloppy police work is inexcusable especially when a man has been murdered, a man who has not received justice. I wonder how this man’s parents feel about this? Who do they believe killed their son? After all living right across the street, they were most probably daily witnesses to the relationship between the couple. Also was life insurance involved?
As the brother of Jon I can say she did it. It was for $. She hidden the gun in the pool filter. This is why it was rusted in 3 days. Sandra's daughter was a crack head and given up 2 of her kids. 3 days before this Jon asked my dad and I if he should buy her daughter a house. My answer was no. My brother hated her. I had a very intense questioning of Wes and he would have confessed if he did it. Sandra was left handed so that's why she has gun shot residue on her left arm. There is so much more that 48 hours didn't say. The day it happened that evening they released the house. I had a company come to clean the crime scene. Sandra help the guy carry the bloody mattress out. She hot over $600,000 from the death of my brother. Also her family said she did it the first day

Hello Dr. Grande. I'm curious about your views on : 1. Circular nature of psychological diagnosis - infering diagnosis from behavior, and then explaining behavior by the diagnosis. I appreciate statistical, predictive and order introducing qualities of psychological analysis, but I'm conflicted about it's "realness" (from lack of a better word...)
2. Limitations of psychology as a science- taking into consideration very peculiar nature of it's subject (emotions and personalities are unlike any other subject matter :P kind of volatile)

@@alexandraa5424 Father Joseph Maskell would be so interesting!!! There were so many quotes from the docu series that stuck out. The alter boy who went on to become a detective, who said Father Maskel gave him an evil stare which said “how dare you question me.” He said he did not see that kind of stare again until interviewing murderers. A friend of Father Joseph Maskell said it was hard to believe Father Maskell could have committed these crimes, because Father Maskell seemed so normal.
Father Joseph Maskell is so scary. It seems he was able to blend into the community, appear completely normal, while also regularly sexually abusing young girls, and possibly committing murder.
