It's crazy to me that they added one of these split path options in the game where there's just straight up an objectively wrong choice. Like going with Adaphne and ditching the friends made throughout the game kind of goes entirely against its message of bonds. There's also how if you take the route, it's followed by everyone shaming Mario and Luigi for it and making them feel bad (rightfully so) 😭
Adaphne is clearly one of those characters that you're meant to hate. Imagine unironically picking her on a first playthrough. Very few people probably did that. That aside, for me, Jellyfish Island was just... sort of there. I wouldn't say I dislike it, since it is at least cool thematically and visually and it's over pretty quickly if you know what to do, so it doesn't gobble up too much playtime. Personally, my least favorite island is probably Florall Island, mainly because the enemies are lame. Like, why did they have to reuse the same enemy twice? Not to mention, the re-used enemy is basically the tutorial enemy. I do like the overworld mechanics. There's some cool platforming with the UFO Spin and the rhythm-based flower blooming minigames are kind of fun, but I just can't look past the fact that the battles are pretty boring.
Florall was definitely one of the weaker ones especially with the reused enemy. But yeah, the introduction to UFO and decent platforming saves it for me. Adaphne is definitely meant to be hated but I think the Luigi segments are meant to be funny. But they're just really creepy and uncomfortable.
You can pick this character that's been with you all this time... or you can pick this celebrity you just met and haven't actually seen invent anything. I feel like this decision was a little unbalanced.
In my opinion, Jellyfish island was the only island that felt like filler content, it's a cool concept, and design wise, there's nothing really wrong with it, but was this part necessary for the game? I think it's more because there's literally no battles, no real puzzle. It didn't fell like a island to explore, more like a giant cutscene that you play through.
Also I personally believe that Technikki doesn't deserve to be looking up to Adaphne, but Adaphne deserves to have Technikki around to keep her in check.
im one of the very very few that chose adaphne the first time around, only because I liked her idea of going underwater. ill say the characters clearly dislike the choice made but understand its because you think its the best option for travel.
I do agree that we're meant to dislike them, but I don't agree that they're well written. Their arc feels forced and poorly thought out and her main joke being assulting Luigi and trying to get with him despite him giving clear signs of disinterest does not come off as funny like they seem to intend.
I like Jellyfish island for one reason and one reason only They took the chance to make the Italians bake a pizza and every character said it was the best pizza they've ever had That made me happy Everything else in the island was kinda meh
From a video on those choices, it puts Technikki and IDLE on Jellyfish with an Adaphne lookalike that does the pizza minigame, you still go to Bowser's Castle for the airship part, the engine is red, warping to other currents on the map after the engine is installed causes the Shipshape icon to disappear and then reappear on the chosen current, also the sidequest Mayro just did, you start on Shipshape, Technikki upgrades the goggles on Jellyfish and then you head back to Shipshape to get the boots Although the only times I've ever seen anyone pick Adaphne was just to show off the differences between picking her and Technikki, and I still don't think they got everything
I don't know about Jellyfish Island being the only bad island when Twistee, Merrygo and Bulbfish exists. At least the pizza minigame if kind of fun. Lots of people say Adaphne is the worst character, but I hate the guard bros at Bulbfish way more. All they do is slow you down for the stupidest reasons.
Twistee was lackluster but fine. Merrygo was a fun puzzle the first time around. Bulbfish is great, it's just story based which isn't everyone's cup of tea. The Bulbfish guard is definitely a weirdo and wastes your time but he's not unpleasant to speak to. Adaphne is horrible from when you first meet her, and no information you learn about her makes her even slightly likable. Even at the very end of the game as the credits roll she's still being a creep to Luigi when he's explicitly said no to her.
@@BookofMayro Fair enough. I just really don't like backtracking through Merrygo's bullcrap maze, especially with how many sidequests there are for that area. I don't mind story based areas, but Bulbfish could afford to be shorter.
31:38 no, PLEASE NO! The last thing we want is Adaphne having a kid.
LMAO

Technikki may have committed war crimes during the IDLE rocket scene, but Adaphne is just on another level when it comes to dislikability.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone choose Adaphne
I did. The ensuing dive underneath the barrier was beautiful.
Also the cutscene where you get rescued from Fortress Zokket was better. The extra dialogue from everyone on Jellyfish is also nice
My mentality here was like, I'm not gonna go through all this effort to find Adaphne, just to not even use her plan.
31:23 It's an American thing. It just means "Get out of the way!"
Nah it's a really cool island! It just that one individual there happens to be a complete [REDACTED].
Eh, nothing really happened here. It's the only island that felt like filler to me.

Yeah exactly. The only culture really on the island was "omg dyode" but we've already had our "omg dyode" arc at Twistee.
Such brilliance! I might faint!
21:14 the implication here is, that most people in Concordia just have weird humor
Also I personally believe that Technikki doesn't deserve to be looking up to Adaphne, but Adaphne deserves to have Technikki around to keep her in check.
40:09 if you don't talk to Technikki here, she will not appear in the Sidequest and you will get different boots
Look at that Divine Guy!
Way to go Mayro for this video I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! 😁
That game looks fun Mayro!
I definitely recommend it!

A well-written character meant for the player to dislike. Turly a "gatekeep, gaslight, girlboss" moment.
That's an insult to gatekeepers, gaslighters, and girlbosses, frankly.

who do you think is the ugliest character in M&L Brothership
Adaphne
This island has the best music if you count both
The music is really good, true.

I dont actually know, but I think the outcome is mostly the same with adaphne's engine. I don't know if you have to go to bowsers castle for her.
