- We spent over 12 hours inside this cave dropping down the deepest pit in the USA at 586'! We can't believe we finally managed to drop down the pit after planning this for a long time. We will be back to this cave to see where it goes down there!

I have to also add; this accomplishment is to be celebrated.
For those of us that know, this is the longest depth pit in the USA. People have died doing this drop; even the warm up pit. Rescues in this cave happen more often than not. I’ve waited 20 + years to see this “fantastic” footage. Kudos, boys. Be safe.

This is actually nothing special. Many people go there. Compared to the some deepest caves in the world, this is childs play. There is a cave in russia that is over 2200feet deep. That takes serious preparation to get down to.

It's crazy how some small entrance in the woods has such an elaborate cave system underneath, props to the guys that mapped that place so others could explore it

75 yr grandma here. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I can't even imagine all the mixed emotions you felt doing this. Scary, frightening,awe,& a few others. But if you're physically & mentally up to it I'd think you can't help but to continue on with these adventures. I pray you all stay safe. Use wise judgements. @@EstamosDe It is story telling in the most honest fashion. We are taken into the woods, a place like where we have been many times before, and than we are taken down the rabbit hole.
I’m 63 years old and used to do some minor caving in the 1970s and 1980s, but these videos are so insane that I didn’t even know that caves this deep, wide, long and enormous even existed. Amazing what good lights and HD video can show.
Super impressive achievement! And as a sound engineer, I really enjoyed the wild reverberation whenever you yelled something.
Lol the cave is almost an instrument with all that insane reverb after a single syllable

This adventure was absolutely crazy epic. The decent was like never ending but my whole thought process was about the climb back out. I cant imagine how long it must have felt going back up rope and how much effort and work it must have taken. You guys must have literally been totally exhausted by the time you made it back up and out. Gym membership? Who would ever need one after that! Talk about sore muscles...how long was the recovery time after that one? Absolutely incredible guys...great job doesn't even come close to covering it. Hard to imagine how much more time you would have needed to explore the whole thing. Im blown away.
There's a video with a hang competition between one professional climber and 8 gymnasts/parkour people, they didn't stand a chance against the climber.

Could have instead used an automatic ascension device to get up the rope, but yea that's one hell of a climb.

For reference jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is about 220 ft and most people die from the impact when they hit the water. This pit is nearly 3 times that distance.

Hitting the water at that kind of speed is like getting concrete.
I snapped my femur in half when I hit the water on my jet ski doing about sixty to sixty five miles per hour
I broke my back from a 45' fall

A hit from that bag at that height could easily have been fatal, or at least led to a terrible situation. Glad everyone was okay... I feel like some sort of professional training though wouldn't go astray.
Great video!! This brought back wonderful memories of about 35 years ago in the mid-80's when we did the Fantastic Pit - if it were just yesterday. Premier carbide lamps and some first generation ropewalkers were commonplace. I wish we had the lights of today to have really shown how large this pit is. (On a safety note, avoid dropping large packs of anything down any drop. They can dislodge rock and the impact can damage rope). Continue to cave safe and looking forward to your next video!

Great video, wow. The one who tried to rappel with the heavy packs and flipped upside down seems like a good case for tethering it below off the belay loop instead of trying to wear it on the back. Glad everything else went smoothly.

I would've tried to stay as quiet as possible. You went so deep down, I was worried you might encounter a Balrog.

You guys should start bringing a laser range finder with you. Easiest fastest way to measure the depth/height or width of any pit

These guys aren’t discovering any new caves/pits and all of the metrics are already documented and made public by SCCi and other speleological organizations.
@@stereothrilla8374 No, they discover new places regularly and it would be very useful during their climbs to know for sure how deep something is. Great idea!

my health problems prevent me from being able to even attempt things like this, thanks for making these awesome video and being brave, stay safe out there.
I used to climb towers for a living and we used a rope that I thought was of similar size but it was 1000’ long so it would allow us to get 500’ up and run it through a pulley and back to the ground and attach to a friction winch. That thing filled a large trash can with wheels and was heavy as heck. If you had to get a rope like that deep into a cave system to make a long drop it would be an enormous task! When I heard you talking about a 600 foot pit I was thinking how are they going to manage that!?! Apparently you use a thinner rope than we did.😂

Tip for a heated rig.. have a small squirtbottle with water to cool it down.

I'd say about 52 minutes
It took us roughly 30 minutes

Going down that pit looks terrifying, but I can imagine going up would be worse.
Can only imagine how many gigantic caves there are with out an entrance And gems and gold strains crystals the size of a bus Never seen

edit: Also just curious, I must have missed it, but do you all bring like a hammer drill or something into these caves to put those bolts and anchors in to the rocks?
I think they used ones that were already mounted into the walls. They are not the first to go in this cave. But you’d need a hammer drill to get a bolt into the rock.

I've always thought to myself, as a caver myself, who needs mars or the moon when you've got Earth.
There's still so much of this undiscovered, and even what has been discovered, it's just not the same until you're actually there.
Anyone who thinks you've seen it because you watched a video (don't care if it's 4k or 8k), you're mistaken.
It's all about the energy, being grounded and there, in the flesh and spirit.
Love doing this and diving, because it's a whole other world, right here on Earth.
