He used melted bottle caps, and strips of leather to cover his fingertips as well as tuned down his guitar to create the sound. *The More You Know*
Yeah they were actually going to be a blues band, and it comes through in much of their writing, but the accident altered how he had to tune his guitar due to the texture and etc of his fingertips, and so heavy metal was born.
Also he used Banjo string.
I knew that and a lot of these other facts. Weird sh!t.
Yeah and if I’m not mistaken the reason he had to tune down his guitar was because standard tuning was too hard on his fingers and the lower he tuned the guitar the less tension it was on the strings and made it easier to push them down
I think he also played through a bass amp.

What actually happened with Nightwish is that they started out playing accoustic chil type musioc but when the bands founder and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen heard their singer Tarja Turunens powerful operatic voice he decided to change the style of the band to better support her powerful operatic voice
Other bands banned from Disney are Ice Nine Kills, Cannibal Corpse and machine head. I literally went to see cradle of filth and the chaos and carnage tour (dying fetus, suicide silence) at that house of blues. Shit is wild
Thy Art is Murder are also banned from playing there.
I'd always thought it had to with the band names, but seeing as how you saw Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence, now I'm not sure why they ban certain bands lol.

Toni Iommi was known for playing drop D also because of that. Funny Diamond Dave has more nose candy endurance than Ozzy lol. This was awesome and I will be adding this to my metal trivia part of my brain. 🤘🏾
Tony Iommi also had to use lighter strings, which back at that time were banjo strings, he also had to tune the guitar down half a step AFAIK. Which made the iconic Black Sabbath sound.
The iconic Iommi sound didn’t just come from the bottle cap finger tips, he had to alter the tuning of his guitar in order to be able to play it and that de tuning created the sound

If you're curious, Megadeth won the award for the song Countdown to Extinction, which is about rich people poaching endangered animals.

Iommi's work place accident was actually on his last day on the job, and literally during the end hour. For a long time his replacement finger tips were something he improvised and put together himself, and to make playing the guitar easier he would actually use banjo strings and down tuned the guitar so it sounded like it was all normal and in E standard, which also contributes to that iconic sound. Of all the facts in this video I actually thought that was the most famous one, so I'm surprised at the surprise lol. This is also why it anyone tells you you're playing a Black Sabbath song wrong because it should be down tuned, you should tell them to f*ck off, it's meant to be in E standard, it sounds like it's in E standard, it's in E standard. The down tuning was only to compensate for having banjo strings on the guitar.

12:00 also being in an active volcano can kill you even before it erupts. The smoke/steam I believe is a sulfuric gas which can kill you if you inhale it for long enough. Also acid rain can happen as well sometimes depending on the weather

The thing about Tony Iommi i that it hurt his fingers when he played and started tuning down and later he got prostetic fingers
2:50 it was when Van Halen was opening for Sabbath in 78. Ozzy did so much coke that when he went back to his hotel, he had a room key in his pocket from the previous night's hotel and went to that room number at this other hotel and managed to get into the room cuz a cleaning lady had the door open. He passed out and the band was looking for him in the morning in his new room number, couldn't find him, so that night only Van Halen played. They eventually found him when he came to.

Its hard to find it but there's a documentary called "The Story of Metal" And Tony Iommi does talk about his finger accident. What's even worse was that it was his last day at the job anyway. Originally he melted down plastic bottle tops and wrapped them in a leather grip. I have heard that Anthrax isn't allowed in certain buildings in NY together as a band because of their name however.

Man, its crazy how much this channel has died down over the years. I remember back in the day for the Rest,Repose shows and etc. (I AM THE KA winner guitar give away).

I got most of this stuff right, because my brain ist just sucking up random infos about musicians like these, Mustaine is a Horsebreeder and Lars made the add but actually wasn't let into james' band at first cause he was too bad at drumming, which he only started doing, because he was not professional enough for tennis like his dad xD, but jeez some of the made up once were hilariously good.
Did you know pelle or "dead" one of the lead singers to mayhem commited suicide. And Oystein (the lead guitarist) found out weeks later and instead of telling the police he went to a store, bought a disposable camera and took a picture of it for their next album. He even collected parts of Pelle skull and put on knecklaces and put the shotgun (that pelle used) and put in frame of the camera.

One of my old bosses actually knows the guitarist of Skeletonwitch, they are friends and she said hey you should check them out and they're pretty badass.
There was a venue called The Gibson (closed now) that was part of the same area where Disneyland is and was owned by Disney. I saw Skeletonwitch open for Danzig there.
