Gordon Lightfoot was a true gift to music ,heart and soul. To everyone who reads this, take a most wonderful journey through his music. Every song Gordon Lightfoot wrote is a jewel. Plus, that's his band on all his recordings. I was so fortunate to see him in concert many times. He will live on forever in his words and music.
Thank you reacting to this beautifully sad song, Empress. I can't seem to sing along the whole way through without cracking, and I almost don't mind it.
EJJR. Hearing that I was reminded about these two heartache songs: Nothing but a heartache by the Flirtations & It's a Heartache by Bonnie Tyler Keep Reacting!
Great song! I was so sad to hear of Gordon Lightfoot's passing away recently. Loved his music. One of the best songwriters & storytellers. He was a Canadian legend. My husband & I saw him in concert once. Some of his hits were "Sundown", "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", "Steel Rail Blues", "Ribbon Of Darkness", "Carefree Highway", "Rainy Day People", "Cotton Jenny", "Black Day In July", "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" etc.
Well done, you listed so many of his songs. I saw him once in Lake Tahoe. Guy was one of the best. I was saddened by his passing also, that golden voice silenced. Man does he leave a library of music to remember him by.
the guitar all by itself makes me feel like I am in a car in with the rain pouring down (those high notes descending) when I was soaked and feeling blue due to unrequited love. His lyrics and voice tell the same story
Gordon Lightfoot is one of folk's best singer / story-teller / songwriters. The song "If You Could Read My Mind" is about the breakdown of his first marriage. It focused on the emotional distance and disconnection he felt from his then-wife, Brita Ingegerd Olaisson.
Watching you react to this song gave me a visceral reaction. Beautiful sights and sounds….synergy. Time to pick up the pen and start writing again. Thank you. I will watch this many more times for inspiration. 🙏💐
Nice reaction, glad to hear songs that are a bit more sophisticated and real. Break ups aren't always about being angry or hurt, but losing trust or respect for someone.
Gordon was the man I first listened to him on radio in the early 70’s I’m 70 now and this song rips my heart out masterfully done and some of the best music ever and he never needed an introduction because you knew who it was instantly by his voice.
I remember hearing this with my Mother in the car when I was little. I asked why I wanted to cry but I liked the song 🎵 Some of the greatest things in life are poignant. Love your reaction! 😽🎶
My Empress, you look absolutely radiant. Gordon wrote this song about his divorce. He never saw it coming. He didn't know why his wife fell out of love with him. No matter how he tried he just couldn't get her to love him like she used to. One of the most perfectly crafted songs ever. Beautiful reaction pretty lady, RNB
One of the greatest storytellers in the history of modern music, Gordon Lightfoot. However, there's two great breakup songs that I can think of from two different genres and generations. 1970s Sanford-Townsend Band: Smoke From A Distant Fire 🔥 (From an angry young man's point of view) 2020s BAND-MAID: Hate? (From a modern Japanese ladies' point of view) You won't be disappointed in either one. 😂🎉❤
RIP Gordon, a giant of global music along with so many of his Canadian colleagues of the time. Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen , to mention a few😅👍👍
I love seeing the genuine reaction when you notice it’s a break-up song
Everything about this song is amazing. Lyrics, vocals, music, and how it all comes together.
Lightfoot knew how to write a song that could rip your heart out, but make you want to hear it again.
He had such a lovely voice, with a great story, priceless.
He got you again Empress!
Gordon Lightfoot was one of the best balladeers ever, I have never heard a Lightfoot song that I didn't love. A great Canadian R I P Gord !!!
This song is pure genius. Lightfoot knew how to write songs that equated some of the best poetry in human history.

One of the best heart breaking song ever
Thank you reacting to this beautifully sad song, Empress. I can't seem to sing along the whole way through without cracking, and I almost don't mind it.
It’s a heart-wrencher.

I think this is his best song and so many of us can relate to it

Jimmy Buffett is quoted as saying that Gordon Lightfoot was the songwriter who he most wanted to be like.
Love you ... "carefree highway "
"Sundown" is a great one from Gordon Lightfoot.
When he wrote the song, he was going through a really messy divorce, and he paid at the time the largest divorce settlement in Canadian history,
One of my favorite songs. 😊
Nice reaction. nice dress too, lookin like an empress for real x

A great reaction! ❤🙏
Glad you enjoyed ❤️
He had some of the best story music. His voice was special.
Wow, you are stunning. Whew. Great reaction. Thank you.
Thank you too! 😊
Gordon was a real treasure, No better storyteller
Hey. A singer with a very pleasant voice who is a pleasure to listen to. This is how the audience has always been brought along to listen, great.
I'm a huge Tom Waits, Shane MacGowan and Nick Cave fan. This is still the greatest single singer/songwriter song ever written.
I'm an admirer of your reactions. I knew this one would affect you profoundly, as it does anyone with a heart.
I have watched you so many times I have to say you are a beautiful woman and a beautiful soul.
Big fan of Gordon Lightfoot and so glad you reacted to this classic..I hope you react more to his songs..
By the way,you look beautiful as always
Not one my favorite songs but you're one of my favorite channels so I always give you a like (been subscribed for years) ! 😉
Great reaction Empress Joy!
The song is a classic but, on top of that, you have the most expressive face I've ever seen.

Sanford-Townsend Band: Smoke From A Distant Fire 🔥
(From an angry young man's point of view)
2020s
BAND-MAID: Hate?
(From a modern Japanese ladies' point of view)
You won't be disappointed in either one.
😂🎉❤
With that dress you have on, I'm glad you can't read my mind love! Lol
good job dear! you should listen to some James Taylor. I think you will love him!
i will never be set free, as long as i`m a ghost that you can`t see. your reactions are so beautiful, sweetheart !
Good reaction lady. You are a very emotional person.
I like your reaction. If you want another "breakup song" that is very sweet, try "Catch the Wind", by Donovan
Sundown is a great one from him.
Best song ever.
Beautiful + Heartbreakingly painful = Magic. Great review.
🍁
❤
I would like you to react to Bob Marley's song One Love
Try his song , Sundown
I think you might like Best of My Love by The Eagles.
He wrote while going through a divorce. He said his wife made him feel like a ghost in his own home.
RIP Gordon, a giant of global music along with so many of his Canadian colleagues of the time. Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen , to mention a few😅👍👍
Whoever broke up with this guy must have been pretty hard to please. You can't accuse him of lacking empathy or feeling.
Gordon had problems with his women. His pain was a great part of his music. "Sundown" was a great example.
Gords voice is cllear to Africans who speak English.🙃
Mr lightfoot do sundown. JT
Abusive narcissist
Garbage music
