People in south have taken good care of natural areas, trees and forests that's why it seems very undeveloped. I'm glad they did because Goa has both lavish luxury places in North with casinos and cafes and pure natural beauty in south.
I stopped in south Goa in 2018 and was at the same beach. Stayed there for a couple of nights. One of the locals found out I worked in IT and ended up laying network cabling for a wireless access point. The people were lovely. After I started my network activities, I did not pay for accomodation, food, or drink. Wonderful place. And I hired out a Honda 110cc twist and go and loved it.
I truly admire your laid-back and relaxed style of video making. Mahindra released the second generation of the Thar three years ago, offering a vehicle far superior to the first generation Thar you are driving. You should have chosen the newer generation. Mahindra manufactures these in India due to a license agreement with Willey, similar to Jeep's agreement. Unfortunately, they don't have this license agreement outside of India; otherwise, this vehicle would be selling like hot cakes worldwide.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I said exactly this to Monika; if Mahindra could sell the new model world wide, they would obliterate all competition! Nothing touches it for value and style, and the quality of the new one looks superb
@@FreddieDobbsMahindra I think have launched it in US after changing front typical grill design that all Jeeps have. M&M again had to stop selling after some other case. They do have some models selling in US.
Everything about Freddie's videos is exceptional from the introduction, stoic but yet full of personality. This trip to Goa was uncalled for but probably the best videos out there regarding this amazing little state. Absolutely a treat. Not to mention Monica's fun camera angles and supportive laughs.
I'm glad you made it to Agonda Freddie. I was there last year. Beautiful. Unfortunately I gashed my ankle when I fell through a cracked pavement while filling my RE up with bottled fuel. Trapped in paradise foe three weeks.
In 1994 I rented a grey Mahindra in Candolim to go to a party in Gokarn. My friend and I were both wearing khaki shirts and noticed we were getting salutes from the police which was nice because we had contraband.A small donation got us passed through the checkpoint at the border with Karnataka without having to show any paperwork.Happy days.
The “cocktail” that you had is probably either urrak or feni. Urrak is the first distillate, feni is the second distillate, of alcohol made from the cashew fruit. Cashews are cultivated aplenty in Goa. Urrak has a low shelf life and this is typically the season in which it is made, and it is usually consumed with a chilli in it (to cut the taste) which is why I’m guessing you most probably had urrak.
@@FreddieDobbs It was one of the older versions of Thar when Mahindra as a company was relatively smaller, they are much better with the suspension now.
I'm torn! Goa, no matter North or South is a beautiful Tropical destination. It's excellent value for the Tourist, but my stay there last month was tinged! Beautiful film, you've surpassed yourself. You reminded me that back in the 1980s I had a girlfriend from Portuguese Goa. The family had moved to London. She was drop-dead gorgeous. I took her to Richmond swimming pool and when she emerged in a bikini the busy place fell silent - everyone was watching her! Loving the Jeep. If I was a bit younger I'd be tempted to buy one and import it into the UK. Maybe you should do that? Better than an old series Land Rover!
Freddie, brilliant travel docuseries! I'm 33 and this entire playlist appealed to the 14-15 year old self of me, who used to watch hours of documentary on TLC! Feni itself isn't a cocktail. It's a spirit made from fermenting cashews (goa is famous for cashew production). And Feni is used in many cocktails like any other spirit.
Happy to see Someone Enjoying GOA :) its sooooo slow life style that if someone really needs to chill out that is the place... GOA is like a passive relaxation therapy which is far more effective than anything else... for a very low price.

So glad I've found your channel, as I was meant to visit Goa in a round the world flight in 2010, but changed my itinerary before purchasing the airfare. Southern Goa reminds me of The Philippines, which I've visited many times and Thailand even more so. But I think that Goa will definitely be my next destination due to the impact of your video's.

He was there for a few days filming the Bourne movie (Supremacy I think). He was super cool with all us backpackers. I did my best to get in on the action but failed the cut! Great video Freddie and Monica and brought back happy memories for me!
Beautiful vlog Freddie and Monika, I was on that same beach 21 years ago, not as commercialized as it is now though. I remember how cheap it was to eat out, the birds on the beach picking up bits of fish left by the fishing boats and the smell of spices from the stalls on the streets, little pigs running around in the bush, working elephants in the fields, the cow sheet all over the roads and my bout of enteritis.
Love your videos @FreddieDobbs. Reminds me of the time when I cycled from Kanyakumari (the southern tip of India in Tamil Nadu) to Kashmir. People in India are friendly, warm and large-hearted. You are doing a neat trick. Taking most bits hyped by Indians and making videos on it. But you are authentic about it. New Gen Thar is quite improved and upgrade over first gen thar. Lot of typical Goa shots especially bull fighting on beach. "Indian cocktail" is one of the strongest alcohol - Pheni - typical of Goa not pan-indian. think its 48% alcohol. Also typical Portuguese houses that you are talking are not portuguese per se - They are Konkani (region between Arabic sea and Sahyadri mountains - its like California strip) style with bit of Portuguese touch.
