Exterioris-vallem It's just that in this case, there is nothing to aspire to. You either have a TH-cam account and produce content for the public, or you don't. You don't need to be hired by TH-cam in order to be a TH-camr, anyone can create an account and become one.
Robson Carlos there’s a difference in creating a free account and making ass videos that don’t go anywhere ever to putting money a tons of time into a video that gets potentially hundreds of thousands of views and literally get recognized like a famous person on the street. Not many people can make a video daily and keep on doing it until they get a viral video. I have a channel with 25,000 subscribers and get an average of 7,000 views per video that took over a year to get, and I was able to quit my fast food job because I am making more than the manager where I used to work with just 25,000 subscribers and sponsorships. I put 5 hours a day for a year making NO money into creating a video EVERYDAY to get to the point where I’m at today, simply because I love editing, and creating content. Not many people have the time, nor passion to do that. So no, it is not something anyone can do. That’s the most ridiculous thing. That’s like saying anybody can go into an audition and become an famous actor. Just no, you need to have the passion to keep going to the auditions after not getting picked up over and over again and being in failed movies one after another. You need to understand that
Lizzy Hale Of course I understand that, and I think Kimmel does as well. But you don't need to be famous to be considered a youtuber. I had a gaming channel a few years ago, it didn't even get to 50 subscribers, still I considered myself a youtuber, at the time. It's just that, 'aspiring youtuber' doesn't sound good. Because theoretically, she could be producing terrible content and she would still be a youtuber, since she would be performing the same activity as any other youtuber(famous or not). I understand what you are saying tho, you are not a real youtuber unless you put on the time and resources into your work, to try and produce good content. But when viewing TH-camr as a concept, it doesn't make sense to say 'aspiring', and I think that was Kimmel's thought process.
Exterioris-vallem "That's what it means to be a youtuber nowadays, you need to get a lot of followers". I made that clear in my previous comment. That's the common meaning of the word TH-camr as we know it. My first comment was directioned at a more basic concept of the word -A youtuber is someone who produces content. That was all I was going for. After all, when do you become famous? when do you become a real youtuber? whats the cut off point? its subjective. There are tons of quality channels out there which don't have nearly as many followers as they deserve. So they are not real youtubers due to that? Since we don't have objective metrics to assess that, I consider anyone who makes videos, a youtuber. So I'd expect her to either simply say "I'm a youtuber" or any other profession, if she's not a successful youtuber.
