    My father-in-law were members of the Queen City Corvette Club there in Charlotte at the time of this race. The club got the honors of doing a parade lap around the track in our Corvettes before the race and we all got to stay in the infield for the entire race!! Great memories here!!

    I love that line from Mike Joy heading into a commercial break at 1:12:17 "Allot of surprises so far, Ryan Newman a lap down, Jeff Gordon's car is junk, whats going to happen next?"

    looking back on this video, Casey Mears took 4 tires on that last pit stop and passed Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace, Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte, and Kasey Kahne in less than half a lap. Jesus what 4 fresh tries could do back in 2004.

    What a difference a year makes.
    Compared to next year's cautionfest, this race- only 7 cautions and all but 6 cars finished

    I remember this race like it was yesterday, it was my first Nascar race ever during the peak prime time of Nascar. 180,000 people and Im pretty sure it broke a record for like most cautions or like longest timed race. Ended super late I got home really late and had drivers ED the next day I was about to turn 15. Good times

    Over the past few days, I’ve watched 2 New Hampshire races in a row, and that’s a 1 mike flat track, and this seems so much faster it’s like it’s fast forwarded. I’m trying to watch all of Jimmie Johnson’s wins. I’m on 7, 8 if you count his 2001 win in the Busch series

    They always rave about Johnson's performance at Charlotte back in these days. What they don't tell you is that from 2002-2005 the 48 car was the only car doing the tire tests at Charlotte. It was after other teams complained that NASCAR instituted the requirement to Goodyear that one car per manufacturer must be present at the tests now.

      He was still good here til 2007. Then they changed to that garbage cot car and he started doing bad here. Only won 4 times here since 07(2 points and 2 all star)

    Nascar 06 Total Team Control Challenge
    Michael Waltrip 15 Napa Chevy
    I'll Take A Coke 3:39:51,3:41:05
    In the race he was lined up 3rd and only passed Jamie McMurray with just the last shot to pass Jimmie Johnson but Waltrip finished 2nd to the 48.
    In the challenge Waltrip has to give the player a chance to change history with 3 laps left the 15 had to pass the 42 and 48 to win the race.

    Back when Elliott Sadler actually had a good team and equipment. In '05 they moved Parrott to the 88, and ruined the chemistry he had, and of course moving to the #19 was a horrible move

    This should have been '3 in a row, Jimmie Johnson!' in this race, not 2005.
    Looking back at 2002, an overshot pit stall kept him from winning 4 straight here.

    • @TravisMSimpson
      @TravisMSimpson 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Kreager Jimmie won the 600 in '04 and the fall race and the 600 in 2005 so that is three in a row. the fall of '03 went to tony, the spring went to jimmie. So the won 3 600 in a row ('03,'04,'05) and three straight charlotte races( spring '04, fall '04 and spring '05) so three in a row at the 05 event by DW was correct.

    • @chrisuncleahmad666
      @chrisuncleahmad666 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Travis M Simpson I meant 600s. This should have been his 3rd straight 600 if not for that pit stall overshoot.
