Love the video Matt especially because i also live in wynnum. Would love to see the next video with the images side by side to make an easier comparison.
Thanks Troy! Yes good suggestion re side by side photos. I don't live in Wynnum, I'm further down the bayside in the Redlands ha ha. I've taken a LOT of photos around Wynnum though, love it!
i have a lot of 35mm classic SLRs. When I go point & shoot, it all about fun. I have a few, but they are all inexpensive. Frankly, one of my favourite point and shoots is my Canon Owl Sure Shot 35mm. Hardly a classic. I have pondered buying a quality Point and Shoot, but kinda like that cheap P&S cameras, because of imperfections, differentiate from my other pocket camera…ie/ my phone!
Yes David, agree 100%! The Owl is one of my favourite (cheaper) P&S - I have the AF-7 branded version. The viewfinder is HUGE and it's lots of fun to use!
Thank you very much. I would pick the Canon as well - and for the same reason. Not that I use glasses, but the flash setting is always annoying - except on cameras like the Kodak S1100 XL, where it's a slider for the left hand making it a two-handed compact, which I personally don't mind.
booo! I have a Pentax UC-1 (same camera) and love it! Working man's point and shoot! I thought in your images, the Pentax blew the Canon out of the water for the most part!
Ha ha ha well while I was editing the video I did realise the Pentax had a couple of really good frames... but the shutter speeds were also slower in certain circumstances for sure. You know I have a soft spot for Pentax, but I find all their P&S a bit meh to be honest...
with the disclaimer of being subjective, I think the Canon had a slight advantage on sharpness. But do like more the snicky look of the Espio though :)
Yes I agree! I've actually read since then that the Pentax has a slow exposure mode... perhaps for some scenes it was using a much lower shutter speed. It's definitely a sexier camera for sure!
The canon has the flash off/on switch and that's a big win for sure. But I found the lens to not be that great. Stopped down it's ok, but wide open it has very blurry corners that manifest in a particularly ugly way imo. I found the lens and results very similar to the Canon WP-1, nice and sharp in some Goldilocks circumstances but completely dropped the ball in others. I'd say the Pentax has the nicer lens overall of these two cameras. Also some corner smearing wide open but not in the ugly ways of the canon and a very sharp center
Ooo interesting, I haven’t shot enough rolls with the canon to notice that yet! The flash miraculously came back to life on my Pentax so I’m very happy about that!
Thank you so much Matt, really appreciate you subscribing to my channel! Thank you also for the Ko-Fi love, so very kind of you! I just mentioned it to Lucy and she said you were lovely!

Another great video, Matt. You are the Point-n-shoot nerd extraordinaire.
Thank you mate! I certainly am 😅

Thanks NP! Canon for the win!
My pentax espio mini flash is not working, is it fixable? Love your video btw ❤
! I completely forgot I had a Canon Sleek until I saw the thumbnail! That thing went with me everywhere in the 90s…
I have a big heavy Pentax zoom in the 90s... wish I had gone Sleek ha ha

Wonderful shots! Love a good point n shoot! I might have to challenge myself to see which point n shoot I have is better. 😎
Thank you Christina! After shooting this video I'm thinking about selling all the ones I don't use!
@@MattLovesCameras I have thought about doing the same but then I’m like well not that one.. 😂

Lol, Canon and Pentax, what were you thinking not making a luxury p&s film camera 30 years ago? Current Canon and Pentax execs: whut??
Yes ha ha, sadly the days of point and shoot film cameras being produced is long gone 😪
