    Thanks so much, Kristie, for sharing your creative talent and doing these videos for us. I just got a beautiful 6x6 pack of paper from a different company and wanted to challenge myself to try to have little waste. Because of the way I cut/used it, I had quite a few 2" x 6" scraps. This video, in particular, has several sketches that showcase how I can use those 1-1/2 to 2" strips, so perfect timing!!. God Bless and Be Well, Kristie!!

    I smiled when I saw the lumberjack. Here in B.C., we consider that an east coast name. Here for those working in the woods, my late father being a faller, we call them loggers... Love the paper and cards! Wonder if Love from Lizi will do a special set of snowflake peel-offs? Those would be lovely for winter or Christmas themed cards.

      Betty Faulconer Thank you so much! 😊 Last year, I started keeping track of how many cards I make since it was a popular question. In 2019, I made almost 2,000 cards. I think I’m around 1500 so far for 2020.

    I've had this paper pad for a while and now that I've seen this video I can jump right in and use it! P.S. - do the card sketches you use have the measurements for the different elements? I'd love to do more layered cards but I'm clueless when it comes to matting the elements.

    Great cards as always!!! I love working assembly-line style, but I tend to go too overboard on embellishment which makes them take longer without making them any better. So it’s inspiring to see so many lovely cards done in a matter of hours while keeping the embellishment level tasteful. I’ve gathered that sketches and layering are key.
    QUESTION: How do you find local charities to donate cards to? I’d love to try making batches like yours to use up some of my stash (so I can buy more paper, haha!), but I don’t need this many cards -- even for Christmas.

      @KristieMarcotte  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vera Milo Thank you so much! Sketches are great for inspiration. And layers add lovely contrast and a finished look. 💖
      I just started asking around to see if any organizations had a need for handmade cards. If you are comfortable writing an encouraging message inside the card, I think you will find more places happy to take your cards. Nursing homes, cancer centers, veteran homes, first responders, military and hospitals are a great place to start.

      Cheryl Pavao Thank you! 😊 I’m not very computer savvy. I simply go to the sketch site, right click on the sketch, open in new tab, then print. I’ll change the size so it’s about 1/4 the size of a sheet of paper.

      Mary George Hilbun Thank you for your kindness. 😊 I find it easiest to line up 3 sides of the paper first. Then if I need to trim a bit off the 4th side, it’s quick and simple. I think my crafty OCD also helps me get my layers pretty straight and even. Lol!

    Hi Kristie. I am new to card making well new to all paper crafting. I would like to know how you figure the size to cut the mat for your piece? I noticed that measurement is not on the sketch. This is like cooking, I need a recipe. LOL Beautiful and I have this paper pack. Thank you in advance.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Kathy and welcome to the fun world of card making. For most of my matted layers, I add an additional 1/8". For example. If the pattern paper piece is 3" x 3 1/4", then the cardstock layer is cut to 3 1/8" x 3 3/8". If you prefer a wider layer, you can always add 1/4". 😊

    I just love you’re cards, such inspiration, but I have to ask... why do you place the strips of paper on the back of your pieces. I know it makes it all flush but why do you like to do it that way.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! The scrap pieces of cardstock do help level out all the layers. I never used to add the pieces and I've noticed a dip or dent when the papers go off the edge of some of the layers.

      I add the scrap pieces of cardstock to help even out the layers. With all the layers I add to my cards, I don't like it when there is a noticeable dip or dent when a paper goes off the edge of another layer.
