Rem Koolhaas is on to something in seeing futures stem from the countryside and I am sure he sees the irony in showcasing the countryside's possible futures in New York City. This only highlights the biggest challenges facing ALL that which is rural: distance, disconnectedness and depopulation. A truly radical exhibition would take place in an actual rural area: Extremadura, North Dakota, Siberia, Labrador, etc. But who the heck wants to go there?
Koolhaas' claim this show was not possible 20 years ago is disputable. MVRDV, also Dutch and kind of originated out of OMA, made shows similar to COUNTRYSIDE already in 1999 and 2000 in Stroom HCBK, The Hague, Netherlands: PIG CITY, DATASCAPES etc. I guess the use of CAPITALS in the titles refer to the shared background or call it ZEITGEIST

There is no content whatsoever, only hype, like the output of Rem Koolhaas, an entertainer who uses shelter as his medium. He is a complete and utter fraud, who has no interest in making the world a better place to live in.
