  • Opening Day of the Duck Hunting Season for 2022. The first weekend in May is the traditional start of the Duck Hunting Season in New Zealand, and this will mark 50 years since I purchased my first Duck Hunting Licence. The settings on the Shotkam were wrong, so no action clips.
    Filmed on GoPro Hero 10
Thanks for finding the video and (hopefully) having a watch. Your support is very much appreciated.

Hi, I came across your channel a month or so ago and have been enjoying watching your videos - keep up the great work. This one struck a chord with me as looks like we shoot on the same lake. I've been shooting there for 47 years now & like you was introduced to it by my father who started shooting there in the mid 1960's. I was just interested in whereabouts on the lake you shoot? I have a spot in the southwestern corner just behind the timber mill at Ohinewai. Maybe we'll have a chance to catch up one year for a cup of Earl Grey :)

I think we've been on the lake about 15 years. I used to have access to a number of farms, but city expansion and changing land use/ownership has seen them disappear. The maimai is on the east side along from the old Yacht Club. Always up for a cuppa or ....

Yep, I had been going for a few years prior, but that was the first opening day with all my own gear.

@@OutdoorsmanDave Yep. He instilled in me a love for the outdoors in all its forms. He had great patience and was very generous with his time while teaching me the skills needed, and for that I am very grateful.
