Robert The Bruce was the actual Braveheart. Hollywood always gets it wrong.
    Game looks good though.

Super review. Time for me to crack out those block games again!

One of my favourite wargames. Just to echo I (unvoluntarily) purged my gaming collection years ago but held onto this gem so I agree with your friend to save this one in a fire. I love the wintering mechanic and block wargames period. Another fun one is even easier to play is War of 1812 but I find this game to be more balanced and exciting. ✌️

I just realized the similarities between this accent and my own thick Boston accent. Dropping Rs like that in the same way is oddly specific, makes one wonder if there's a connection.

James, another great review that makes me want to actually play this game rather than leave it languishing on my shelf. Thanks again!

Thanks for your review. I own this game but have never played it. Just as with Twilight Struggle, your reviews help me understand the game better before jumping in cold. Thanks again!
BTW, do you think you'll ever have Crusader Rex on your review list?

So it's exactly the same as Richard III then, just a different map.

@shaker428 I am interested in it, so maybe, possibly. There is a new edition from memory so I'll wait and see what happens with that. It can be tough Jumping in cold to a heavier game and I am glad my reviews can act as a guideline. I get a lot out of other reviews, written and video too.

I want to hear you say "Lifestyles of the rich and famous."
Honestly though, very nice review. I am just getting into wargaming. I ordered ASL Starter Kit, and the next game on my list was this one. Now I want it even more.

Very good review James. I bought Julius Caesar a month back, and will probably buy Hammer of the Scots as well as it looks equally good.

Wow. This game is pretty expensive for a two-player game with less than stellar components.

Thanks for the review. My question would be what is better from this and Julius Caesar if I would buy just one game?

@ dcfoley Yes, twice, I own it too. I like this and Julius Casar better. War of the Roses is good and I'll be keeping my copy. I think it requires quite a few plays to understand the best way to achieve goals. I have to get to know the units and Icons a bit more, fortunately my mate and I are having a blast with Columbia block games at the moment, we played Julius Caesar again today.
