I saw that quest for knowledge in Italy...it is a wood carving in a cathedral, if I remember right. It depicts to me the quest that Christian in Pilgrims Progress had in leaving the world behind and seeking the celestial city, the dwelling of the Lord. Thanks for showing these puzzles!
Really! Thank you for sharing, that's so interesting. I went to Italy years ago and all the historic artwork was so breathtaking. I would love to see this in person.
I'm glad you had a go at pomegranate puzzles. They are my favourite brand as fit etc is good but I do concur with you about the puzzles are not as vibrant as the box image. I love their range of images, my current wishlist is about 60% pomegranate puzzles! It helps that I can get a good selection in the UK for about $10 for 300 and 500 piece puzzles and $12 for 1000. Absolute bargain!
Wow, your prices are pretty good. The really do have a lot of beautiful puzzle images, and I do plan to try them again in the future. Maybe I'll find some good ones during my next trip out to Barnes & Noble.
We've done 1 Pomegranate, the 300 piece "Pool Cat". Tons of fun. Love the piece size and quality. I'm glad you did this review so I know not to grab anything larger than 500 though. The "Quest for Knowledge" one is gorgeous and on my list now.
You're definitely good up to a 500 count puzzle in my opinion. I honestly felt the 1K was too loose for my liking, so if I do end up buying another one at some point, I may just stick with up to 500.
Oh, I want the Japanese garden puzzle. I would love to find puzzles of old Japanese prints. I do a lot of them online but want to do one with my fingers instead of a mouse! I like the colors of all their puzzles. Thank you for the reviews, Mandy. PS:: I LOL when you pros lament that it took you 5 hours to do a puzzle. I take days but still enjoy the process.
I keep thinking I should try online puzzles, but I never get around to it because I just want to feel puzzle pieces lol. Besides, if I'm on the computer I always get distracted to look up something else. As for my completion time, it's 5 hours within a span of days. I almost never complete my puzzles in one sitting🤭maybe only ever happened two or three times in my whole puzzling life.
Mandy, I was dying to see your review on this brand! The images are so appealing, but my mixed feelings drive me nuts, especially when I like 1000pcs most.. But your review...your review...you NAILED IT throughout the entire video and have cleared up my doubts!!! Especially the 1000pcs! I have tried all 3 counts, and couldn't agree more!!
I'm glad my review helped clear your doubts! And really, your comment helped me know that what I experienced was true as well. Sometimes I wonder if I'm thinking straight half the time when I reflect on my experiences.
That Quest for Knowledge puzzle looks fantastic, right up my alley as a philosophy doctorate student! Pity I can't seem to get it anywhere in Europe :( also, don't worry about the man, I don't think he is going through anything bad. I would say he represents enlightment, similar as to when the chained people free themselves and get to acquire knowledge of the Forms in Plato's Allegory of the Cave :)
Not a fan of Pomegranate. The only puzzle that I've never completed was a Pomegranate 500 piece that was just one false fit after the other. Very disappointing. Glad you had a better experience.
It's interesting hearing about your experience. Seems to be a lot of inconsistencies with this brand. I think I really need to try out a couple more in the future to see if my mind changes.
Thanks for doing a Pomegranate review! I really enjoyed it. It's not a perfect brand, but it's definitely my favorite. I did 4 of them this summer alone. The fit is just okay, and occasionally they are even crumbly. So that's not great. I just had one clipped to a piece of foam core which I leaned forward slightly, and a big chunk just fell on the floor! sigh. But they have by far the most interesting images I have seen. I tried my first 500 piece count recently, but that one was just too easy and I was actually a little bored. So, the 1000 piece are the best. I agree it would be nice to get a poster, especially for some of the highly detailed images, but it does add to the challenge. I sometimes get a resealable bag with Pomegranate, but you didn't get any. Oh well. I loved your "angry" face when you looked into the 3000 piece puzzle box! 🤣Don't be mad. It will get better!
Oh no, nothing worst than a puzzle tragedy 😅I've had a few of those in the past. Pomegranate is definitely not perfect, but I can consider then pretty good overall for the price. Now I wish mine came with the resealable bag lol, those are such a huge plus to me. That was my "my goodness what have I gotten myself into" face 🤣i finally got some progress today, but my goodness the amount of trays and pieces I have laid out is quite overwhelming at times.
@@thepuzzledmandy I agree that a 3000-piece puzzle seems quite overwhelming, but it comes with the territory for becoming a puzzle guru! I am looking forward to the video, which I am sure will be very soon. Did you hear about the new 60,000 piece puzzle from Dowdle? You need to try that one next! 🤯
Thanks for the comparison review. I really like The Quest for Knowledge. I might have to add it to my collection. The Japanese garden was pretty but I want brighter colors for a garden puzzle.
You're very welcome! I really did enjoy the bright colors in The Quest For Knowledge, but I have to agree about the Japanese garden puzzle. I do love the image, but as a puzzle I kinda wish it had more going with it.
Thank you for reviewing Pomegranate puzzles. I have no experience with Pomegranate. If I were to try one, I think I would choose the 500-piece Quest for Knowledge which you reviewed or possibly the 500-piece Jelly Bean Hill that has bright, cheerful colors. I personally value piece thickness and snugness of fit (hold) as qualities I look for in a puzzle. However, an image I just can't say no to, sometimes overcomes everything else.
You're very welcome! I agree with you, sometimes no matter the brand you just can't resist that image. That's why I sneak another Ceaco in my collection even though it's on the bottom of my list. Their image selection is so vast and fun.
Good review. I heard alot of the 1000 pcs are prints of art work so that's why it may seem blurry in spots. They are nice non glossy pieces though. Can't wait for your 3k and next live. The live sessions with you are alot of fun. 🎉😊
This 3K puzzle is seriously kicking me in the behind. It sucks that I'm working so much now too, but I was able to make some progress today. I'm looking forward to the next live too!
Just remember you did a 1 third of your 3k puzzle after doing the 3 Pomergranites......you got it. I like ordering 2n 3k now as they keep me busy ....especially now that I am back to bus driving with school and all. I sure do miss my puzzling though. Keep your chin up🎉
Hi! Great review, Mandy! I've only done one Pomegranate puzzle, 1000-piece. I enjoyed it! It was actually made into a countdown puzzle, so I did bits of it each day for so many days. It was fun though, and I found the quality was pretty good. Sorry, I've been MIA lately. Life... 😅 Happy Puzzling! 🧩😊
Great review Mandy. Thanks for sharing! Out of curiosity, If you could pick one favourite brand what would it be? Thx! I recently done my first Heyes - complete mixed feelings here too. Certainly not paying 200 dollars for a 1000 pieces any time soon.
$200 for a 1k?! That's insane. I'd have to say my favorite brand right now is Schmidt, with Pintoo as a close second. I'm a big fan of the hold, and love that Schmidt carry Thomas Kincaid images.
Hah yep…brand new, thats what some of the big brands go for here in nz. Crazy uh?! 😅 oh thats very interesting about your favourite brands. ive never tried a Pinto before, i shall look into it. Have a great awesome week ahead
Mandy, pomegranate is not really one of my favorite brands, but they have recently made changes. The new puzzles have the picture as the whole front image on box. Those you have are of the older line. I haven't tried the new ones yet.
Interesting! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to have to be on the lookout the next time I head to B&N and see if I find any of the newer Pomegranates.
I got a 1000 piece Pomegranate puzzle last year while on vacation in California. I really enjoyed putting that together. I haven't gotten any more from them yet, but I'm getting most of my puzzles from the local monthly swaps, so I never really know what I'm gonna get each month.
The swap I go to is operated by one branch of my local library. I also just found out that there are a couple Little Free Puzzle Libraries near me, so I'll check those out soon.
Pomegranate is on my personal "do not buy" list. I completed the 500-piece Autumn Rhythm puzzle and abandoned the 500-piece Chaos puzzle. I love the Pomegranate images, but the puzzling "promise" and the reality were far apart for me. I suspect that 1) the lack of contrast in darker areas of the puzzle images and 2) the lack of subtle shape variation within the various piece types contributes to the frequent false fit issue I experienced. I don't have that issue with 500-piece Heye puzzles or other brands I've tried.
Yea, there's certainly room for improvement especially considering it has so many brands to compete with. I'm not sure if I have a Heye in my collection, but I do know it's one brand I need to try out soon.
I want to try pomegranate but it’s not high on my list…. due to things I’ve heard. Thank you for the review. I hear the newer ones have a lot of stuff fixed with them, I think I’m willing to try a 500 piece?
I'm finding it very interesting hearing about others experiences with this brand. Sounds like a lot of inconsistencies overall, but I'm also hearing the newer ones are better. We shall see! I'll plan to check some newer ones out in the future to see what they're like.
Personally and maybe just me, that Fairy one looks nice yet the colours seem bland. If the colours were really vibrant, i'd say yes, 1000%. What do you mean it's been a while since you went to Barnes and Noble? You went last week......you do know time travels slower in the southern hemisphere, right? LOL.....I am just teasing ya now. The Japanese Garden would look nice up on the wall 🙂 I can imagine you playing the song....Don't stop me now by Queen, when you start putting these puzzles together 🙂 The guy in the middle jigsaw you couldn't help.....a bottle of vodka is the key.....forget all his problems within half an hour. Gees, I'm in a mood today, aren't I? lol On a serious note for about 5 seconds, which is my limit......3 jigsaws in a week......that is darn huge and brilliant. I wanna talk with your boss to give you a promotion.....to Master Mandy 😅😁
The Fairies was definitely not my typical image, but I really liked the vintage look to it. Besides it may have even been the only 300 count B&N had at the time lol. Speaking of B&N, i seriously need to head back there again, but figure out when they have their big puzzle sale. I love Queen btw so I can play that image in my head too😂 Master Mandy sometimes feels like she could take a sip of vodka herself every now and then when things are getting rough LOL.
@@thepuzzledmandy So the next video, we're going to see you with colour pencils and crayons? lol Would their website mention deals? I mean, B&N? Don't tell me.......during a Live Session, you're going to get tipsy, and cos of that put on a Witches hat, instead of a tiara and call yourself the good Queen from the North cos you'll be doing a Wizard of Oz jigsaw?

That face with the 3k puzzle!!! 😄😄😄
Deep down...I am excited🤣🤣🤣
I did a Pomegranate, and the false fits made me want to scream. I was so glad when you commented on that issue.
Yea, false fits are such a pet peeve of mine as well as loose holds.
I haven't done a Pomegranate puzzle, but I sure admire your sorting skills. Enjoy all your videos.
Thank you so much 🤗😁

I recently did my first Pomegranate puzzle name The Tamer. It is a beautiful image. I loved my experience with this brand. Great video!
Oh wow, I just looked up your puzzle. It's beautiful and looks like it would be quite a challenge.
