I climbed the reek once, when I got to the top I just started crying, no reason, but it must have been God, It was the best experience of my life , can't explain it. Looks easier now, a path way all the way up , praise God, keep Ireland safe, and our St Patricks day parade respectful. 🙏🙏🙏☘
It calls to some, others remain untouched. You are one of the lucky ones, it touches your soul. My next climb is number 40, and I cannot wait. I will continue to climb for as long as I am alive. No words can explain the feelings you get when you climb or the feelings that remain after you summit. Something magical here, something spiritual, everyone needs to experience the Reek.
Beautiful, and to see the fee keeping the tradition of climbing barefoot. Absolutely gorgeous. One day I'll make it back to Ireland and climb Reek Sunday.
I’ve done it about 8 times once for reek Sunday. Did it in 2018 overnight for 40 days of Adoration. That was tough because weather was bad in April and we had to bring up food and water. But was a wonderful thing to do.
It is easily seen why St. Patrick would receive food for his soul in this magnificent part of Ireland. The scenic climb to the top revealing the majesty of God through His creation. God help our Nation St. Patrick pray for us🙏
Reminds me a wee bit of cross mountain in Medjugorje especially the people walking up the mountain in there bare feet god bless each and everyone that took part our blessed mother will protect use all god bless
9:30 Although Croagh Patrick is definitely in County Mayo, whose colours are green and red as evidenced by shirts worn by some of the climbers, I see they magnanimously flew the maroon and white flag of their neighbouring and rival county Galway, who were playing in the All-Ireland football final that day. Stunning video with appropriate music. Best I've seen of this climb.
Is there a more beautiful place on Earth? I climbed Saturday, my 39th climb, and I cannot wait for the next one! One of the few traditions that makes us unique on the world stage. Truly special place, if you have not yet climbed the Reek, you need to do it!
I’ve climbed here a few times, experienced a glorious winter sunrise on 2nd January 2025.. Would like to experience a “Reek Sunday” this Year too. 🦶🏻 🏔️ ⛪️ ☀️
Climbing a hill shouldnt be once a year . It should be every week . Its nice to see they have put in a gravel coating on some of the trail . Thanks for sharing your video
Very powerful, I would have loved to have gone on Reek Sunday but I will be going in a few weeks (intending to go barefoot.) Any advice on this, or tips for nearby Mass times (I will either go on the eve or day of the Assumption). Thank you!!
Wear shoes until you get to the statue at the base. Bring a stick or maybe 2. Walk on grass wherever possible. Walk on big smooth rocks that won't move. The small sharp rocks are the ones that will hurt and possibly cut you. Rinse your feet in water ever time you pass a stream or boggy puddle. Watch every step you take. Good luck.
Climbed it long time ago pretty easy as a young man ,that last part towards the top did not have steps back then it was all lose stones. Remember running up that part which annoyed the older people but being young I cared little.just amazing that anyone goes there anymore as the last time I was in Ireland the churches were empty no one believed in God.
The fire was lit last year, we must continue the mission of conversion for Ireland in the spirit of Saint Patrick.

I don’t recommend doing it barefoot on your first hike

Did you climb Croagh?
@@markyoung5589 I did, I climbed barefoot thanks to the Grace of God. Much appreciation to everyone's feedback in this thread. I descended in sandals.

Me and merv did it this year, it was magic.....
Its the slippiest hill in the whole land
No, it has a new paved path now. So no slippery paths
@@thecatholicman that path will be slippy again . Rest assured.
