At 62 years of age, I can’t think of any series I’ve ever watched that tops MadMen. The best everything: writing, acting, emotion. So powerful. So human.

    The wheel 😩
Arguably the greatest scene I've ever witnessed
Only because the monologue, the set up, the emotion
I've never been so moved by a presentation about a product

I bet you have you just don’t remember off hand. And you probably bought whatever it was selling, in which case, it fulfilled its purpose. We all have. That is a powerful scene but it is still a commercial at its core. That’s what they do and what makes the modern world go round

There really are pete campbell's at every company. I'm 53 and I didn't realize nepotism hires when I was young. I would wonder: "why do they keep that worthless person?" I worked at multiple companies, but didn't have awareness, because it's kept secret. The truth leaks out over time; as people's reputations proceed them. They're not all near as good as pete campbell, good show. Most of the modern petes, dropped out of college, so their family pulls strings to get them a job.

When I first started watching Madmen, I couldn't understand why Don would cheat on Betty. He seemed happily married to her. But after hearing MW explained that he just wanted to be loved for who he is it made sense. Betty loved the idea of him, she didn't even know him. How could she love him when he never let her in?

    • @MalloryNewcomb

  • @GiantSandles

These seem more like the 'best scenes' than the 'best quotes'
Anyway, I think there should be more of Pete's foot-in-mouth quotes. I found this exchange from the pilot pretty great
Don Draper: Mencken’s is not Chanel.
Rachel Mencken: That’s a vote of confidence.
Pete Campbell: What Don’s saying is Chanel is a very different kind of place. It’s French, it’s continental, it’s…
Rachel Mencken: Not just another Jewish department store?
    Pete Campbell: Exactly.
He was hopeless in the first season.

That night in bed, Betty mentioned something about the dinner and the discussion and Don really didn't have much to say. After he went to sleep she whispered in his ear "Who is in there". She wanted to know more about her husband, but he couldn't bear to tell her. Like he told Anna, "I knew as soon as I told her she'd look at me differently, and I was right"

The greatest quote in the show is true, your born alone and u die alone and the world drops a bunch of rules on u to make you forget except i dont forget.

I always thought Jon Hamm would totally played as Bruce Wayne aka Batman. Honestly guys whenever I see Maggie Siff in Mad Men I crack a smile even in Sons Of Anarchy I still crack a smile.

The very last scene is probably one of the best in all the seasons. Probably the first time you see Don really care.
