Honestly, it sucks that gold striker will probably get scrapped. However, I think it is reasonable for cedar fair to clone the layout and reuse some of the mechanical parts and trains, and kind of relocate gold striker that way. This could possibly resemble what Bay Beach did with zippin pippin.
This was my home park between 2016-2021. Sad to see it go. I remember this park thriving attendance-wise in 2018-2019, the first full year Railblazer started operating. But I think the pandemic really killed the momentum this park was building. It’s a very expensive area and as a result it became hard to find staffing, especially post-pandemic.
I doubt the park will close. The land is zoned for theme park land by the city and the park brings in tourism so I doubt the city will sit their and let it close, it’s not gonna go away without a fight
Yo I love that you don’t really post POV footage in these videos. I love hearing your reviews and opinions and I also like keeping some mystery for rides I hope to ride.
Growing up and born in mountain view this was my spot all teen and as kid, loved it, will definitely go one more time, Halloween haunt 2021 was last time i went
3:30 RIP FireFall it got removed from great American. When I was a kid I saw that ride and now it gone removed at October 30, 2016 the new is Liberty Twirler
What about the Edge? I was there when it first opened. Great ride. Got lots of $$ off ride from previous riders. The hovering coin on your knee when ride first drops was great to show other riders. Memories...
I'm surprised Orbit wasn't on the list. That ride is a top 5 for me. I do miss the Endeavor. It was such a hangtime machine. It actually had a great setting but sadly rarely had a line. Even on busier days.
The Grizzly was kind of boring but made up for the length of time you got to spend on the ride. The Demon makes your head hit the side of the restraints. Top gun was my favorite. I still remember the Tidal Wave... good times. I was at the park the day Drop Zone opened, and unfortunately, the day someone fell out of the restraints and died. This is a great park and it's sad to hear that it's going to be shut down... That real estate is going to go for top dollar.
Canobie Coaster would say: The elements are comically drawn out and free of any airtime or laterals. Between a wooden coaster without any airtime and a wooden coaster with airtime, what would you prefer, without airtime or with airtime?
I can't relate to this version of Great America as my years spent there were during the Marriot/Paramount years in the late 80's to mid 90's. Back then they had The Edge, Tidal Wave, Loggers Run AND Yankee Clipper. Sky Whirl, Bottoms Up, Triple Play. H.M.B. Endeavor was called The Revolution, Flight Deck was Top Gun, Centrifuge was Fiddler's Fling, and Patriot was The Vortex. Also, it had a Railroad, IMAX theater, and the Great America Theater had an ice skating show. Those were the days.
In your opinion, how many of the rides here will moved to new parks by 2034? I know you are a sports fan, maybe a video of a Cedar Fair Draft of all the park in the chain drafting rides from here that their parks lack? I really hope Michigan's Adventure gets multiple picks in the Top Ten 🤞 Solid list. The western themed Bayern Curve looks unique, but it looks compact and less speedy than the other(s). This flat piques my curiosities. Great video as always!
I never rode the Turn of the Century, but have heard that the hills they removed to include the loops when it became the Demon were really good airtime hills.
My list 1 Flight Deck, it may be a short ride, but it packs a punch. Shout out to the crew who gave the train I was on a double ride at the end of the day after we all shouted one more ride. 2 Railblazer, this is an aggressive ride in all the best ways 3 Gold Striker, I always love wood coasters with twisted layouts, plus this one is very aggressive. 4 Drop Tower, you lose your stomach on this 5 Delirium, these are always fun rides 6 Mission Falls, this was my first experience with this type of waterslide, and it was a fun experience 7 Rue le Dodge, these bumper cars had more power than I expected 8 Star Tower, the views of the surrounding area are wonderful.
What do you think about: Grizzly at California's Great America Wilde Beast at Canada's Wonderland Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland Bandit at Movie Park Germany Coaster Express at parque warner Madrid
Great countdown and video. Id personally swap places between Demon with Patriot. The Demon has much more fun forces. And better operations. I usually just ignore Patriot when I visit. It's a slow ride with weak forces, and weak slow operations. And I definitely rank Goldstriker higher than Railblazer. Goldstrikers line moves faster, the ride is more reliable and it's like 3x as long. Plus 4g+s on a woodie is great. Yeah Railblazer is amazing in the back row, but it's over in 30 seconds or less.
Well here’s a bit of interesting thought with the six flags cedar fair merger, for the final years of this parks life it will be under the same banner as its sister park again. So in an odd way things for the two great Americas have come full circle. Despite the only two similarities between the two are the carasels and the towers. Oh and seeing it they also have demon in common. So this one fades but its sister park will live on with the same name. I’m lucky to be near its sister park.
i worked as a lineman for the power company my whole life. we had to climb poles and work out of bucket trucks and work on live wires up to 25,000 volts everyday and had no fear of it but i can't do coasters yet my wife can.
I grew up in the Bay Area . Going to Great America was a yearly tradition for my friends and I. We were fortunate enough to ride Stealth when it first open. It was the greatest coaster there, util I got to ride Flying Dinosaur at Universal Studios Japan. It's far more superior clone.
My class in summerschool, went there not a long time ago and I had a friend named Ethan and he went on railblazer with everyone else well not everyone. He said went it went straight down he was like this is so boring
The collection really is pretty nice, they are definitely missing that big stand out hyper or launch coaster and I know they won't get one as this park is about to go😢 . Patriot looks underated, Demon as well looks underated, Flight Deck looks really good. Then you have a crazy RMC and GCI!
I am still staying optimistic that they're could be hope for this park but just to be safe I have to get there quickly. I wanted to get there sooner but I was waiting for them to expand their waterpark to what it is now because it had been over a decade since they added something to that area and it didn't look that impressive at the time.
If I'm Being Honest I Think Only The Wild Mouse Lucy's Crabbie Cabbies And Railblazer Are Getting Save I Think Everything Else Will Be Scrapped Disappointingly
so 10 years from now they will close? well serves them right for having an underwhelming ride that doesnt feel like a ride at all, yeah I'm looking at u mass effect with ur layoffs
Finally, a person who’s tier list I actually agree with! Nice video! +1 Subscriber! My after school program is going there soon and I’m soooooo hyped!
Thanks!

For those who don’t know zippin pippin used the old lift motor and trains from the thunder eagle in pigeon forge
It's possible.

Love front seat railblazer and holding on to the handlebars lol
I like the whip in the back more.
Great countdown. Really sad that it’s gonna close after all these years.
I know!
What about the Edge? I was there when it first opened. Great ride. Got lots of $$ off ride from previous riders. The hovering coin on your knee when ride first drops was great to show other riders. Memories...
I like Demon Drop, which is the same ride. Would've placed highly.

Orbit is just ok for me. Love the light package though!
I was thinking the same thing
I once rode orbiter 4 consecutive times, they didn’t make me get off as there was no line, my head has never spun so much
I loved HMB Endeavour. Then again the Intamin Looping Starship is my most favourite flat ride.
I have no idea if it was scrapped after it was removed.
Probably was due to age.
It was scrapped unfortunately. It also rarely had a line but man. The hangtime on it was AMAZING.
Are there any photos of it being scrapped?
They have over 40 rides and Santa Cruz beach boradwalk has 35 rides
Both have plenty to do.
@@CanobieCoaster indeed they do

I still call it top gun

Not sure. I don't know how many flats will be saved since some were older.
I never rode the Turn of the Century, but have heard that the hills they removed to include the loops when it became the Demon were really good airtime hills.
I imagine they rode like hills on Corkscrew at Cedar Point.

Same great ride at least.
I'd visit if I could. Good rides. I like Rail blazer. Such a great looking ride.
It is.
What is the ticket price?
I visited with a season pass, but I believe daily admission is $50-60 if bought online.
The Revolution was a badass ride!
Amazing hangtime.
Oh yes. Always was scared I'd fall out 🤣
Why is star tower higher than grizzly and the mouse ride?
I love the views.
What do you think about:
Grizzly at California's Great America
Wilde Beast at Canada's Wonderland
Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland
Bandit at Movie Park Germany
Coaster Express at parque warner Madrid
Wilde Beast is ok. The others aren't all that great.
Do you think the legal issues between Cedar Fair and the 49ers led to the sale of Great America?
I think the land value and construction costs for new rides was a bigger issue.
