You can get unsealed bearings so you don't have to go through the process off taking apart and cleaning the bearings. Save time and money However, because you use the grinder on the bearings to get a sharp edge, you should leave the shield on one side to keep the metal filings from getting in the ball bearings and race. The metal filings creates flat spots on the ball bearings and will make them wear out much sooner otherwise. If using non-shielded bearings, put some grease in the bearings and use a belt sander or you can do it manually on some high grit metal wet sanding paper and just make figure 8's with the bearings until they get the proper edge on them. Using the grease and wet sand paper will keep the metal filings from getting into the ball bearings as well.
But that bearing will not go through any stress, to make things clearer. It'll be only used by hand as a guide for pulling the strings necessary of PET. But yeah, you've got a point anyways. 👍 Stay safe
@@alex1993r What are you talking about?? "sharp the bearings"??? I was saying in my first comment that you can purchase bearings without the seals, so there'd be no need for the grinder in the first place. Which would eliminate the filings getting into the bearings.
@@korishan What he´s talking about is that you have to grind down the chamfer on the outer race of the bearing, to get a sharp corner that can actually shear something. That´s what you do with the grinder.

What is the width of the stripe if you want to make 1.75 filament?
The width of the cut depends on the thickness of the bottle wall, as a general rule:
Thickness Width
0.2mm 10mm
0.25mm 9mm
0.3mm 8mm
0.35mm 7mm.
