Karen was so talented and had a voice that just brought her music alive. Richard obviously misses her as a sister and a partner. God Bless you Richard. I love The Carpenters.
Richard put his whole soul into this song! Thank you for transforming Karen into what she was born to be, one of the greatest singers of all time, thank you for your arrangements and songwriting! Thank you for your fabulous Piano! Surely the day our Good Lord calls you, and he calls everyone, dear Karen will be there waiting for you, happy and grateful for everything you did for her! Peace and light to this dear Lord! From a fan from Brazil!
Carpenters will always to me have that DEEP SADNESS when I hear their records and see their photos and films together that will linger always because of Karen and her untimely and tragic passing. Before Feb. 4th 1983 that was not the case but ever since that terrible day It has with me ever since and always will. They were a great team I was born in 1960 So I remember them so well Karen and Richard had a major impact on me growing up Loved Karen so Have ever one of their singles and albums still Always still play them and remember a time when we all were oh so young and life was so young to us all They will always represent to me my youth When I was young and time was all we had. Saddens me so how all the years have gone by so fast. I grew up on Karen and Richard in the seventies. Karen's theme is a wonderful tribute to Karen written by Richard but to me it will always be a deeply moving Sad song. Great piece of Music Richard wrote but always saddens me so but it also reminds us all of her great legacy and the oh so too short wonderful life she had. GOD BLESS YOU RICHARD STAY HEALTHY God Bless we still have RIchard around. Hope you will make more music Have all your solo albums also..
Jeff: Your comments are quite poetic. Karen was loved afar by so many. She searched for love yet could only find what she wanted through imagination and lyric. She seemed so unreachable back then. Always on tour, recording, tv, interviews, and all communications screened so no one could "get" to her. Hearing only what the spin doctors told her, including on her looks. Karen on the Dating Game ...can you imagine? How many could have given her the life she wanted, the family she wanted, if they were only let into her world.
Well said! I'm 2 yrs behind you.My sister is a year younger than Karen and she played all the albums for me.We both still listen to The Carpenters and talk about their gift to us.
Thank You for sharing this! Thank You Richard for all of your hard work and for doing this tribute to Karen.I have been there since day one.My older sister is a year younger than Karen and we would listen to all of your albums. We still listen to The Carpenters and still talk about how lucky we are to of been there during that time.We still feel like we lost a family member. What an impact she still has on all of us.We really miss her so much.I can't imagine how you must feel.We love you both forever!
The sadness felt through this piece and her passing in a way is a reflection of our own pastimes we cherish so dearly which also has gone away and only lives on through our memories. In my case, I had so many fond memories of my youth in the 1970s. Thinking of her passing accompanied by this music......its as if her and this music that conveys her spirit are the embodiment of my life experiences of the 1970s and that magical decade coming to an end.
Carpenter rest in peace sweetheart I'll never stop loving you and caring about you and thanking you for your music that you gave to us Karen Carpenter the angel
God Karen was such a beautiful woman back then until she so sadly started wasting away! How the hell she couldn't see that she was destroying herself is absolutely mindboggling!
Hard to believe that Karen felt that she's over weight. she's so beautiful.. so sad . I don't know what she's going thru that may have led her to anorexia..? I miss her terribly. great singer and lovely Lady.
Very difficult for a sensitive daughter to get out from under an emotionally absent mother. Sometimes it takes the daughter a lifetime to just figure out what the problem is.

Pick up a copy of, "Little Girl Blue" by Randy Schmidt. The TRUE story of her life. Just be forewarned, you'll need tissues by the end 😭😭😭
