What a beautiful moment, thank you for sharing it. It has always been my dream to meet the man who's brought so much beauty to my life and you just lived it for me. And such a kind, caring, and gracious person as well (and always has been). Only someone with such a beautiful soul could have made the music that he did.
Happy belated birthday! And the Carpenters anniversary of signing with A&M Records is April 22, so extra special that we got to meet Richard that day. The Carpenters’ music is THE BEST, in my opinion. ☺️
That chuckle of recognition from Richard, followed by "I'll take care of it" almost brought me to tears... so humble and poignant... Congratulations, Sally and Ned. God bless from Canada... (BTW, Sally, your watercolor portrait of KC is superb!...)
What a wonderful finale & that picture of Richard & Karen is simply stunning. I have this album myself & Karen looked beautiful. It was in their heyday when the 70's music was special & the Carpenter's added their unique sound to it. Long live their timeless songs.❤
I was born 1981, growing up here in The Philippines, I always listen to The Carpenters songs, almost every morning, I remember singing Superstar at a singing competition! I'm now 42 years old and I am still inlove with The Carpenters!
U both had the most beautiful music, and u both had beyond talent, from writing music, singing, playing instruments and so on..your so humble as was Karen...never be anyone like The Carpenters ..thanks for your amazing talents! ❤❤
Richard is so talented and really is a kind man to his fans! Loved seeing he and Karen perform in the early 70's when Karen still played the drums on stage.
And maybe one day, a comnentary by Richard, of the warehouse. And/ Or a tour, a few times each year. Like Easter or Christmas break. With Richard's voice on a recording. Or, a Tv screen with Richard talking, live or recorded, before a tour. Welcoming fans and car enthusiasts. Great, that you made a big poster of the album cover. Signed, on The Carpenters A &M signing anniversary. And your water colors are amazing, with your own style. -Mike
That's a great idea. He absolutely loves talking cars. The problem is, even I get nervous, all the times I've been in there, because sometimes people get too close to the cars. I tell people to watch their zippers on their jackets, zippers on long shorts, purses, etc. I would hate to be the one to scratch one of those beauties.
@@eringatlin4793 I think the best way is to have posts and rope, like movie theaters have. Near a car. Then, mark the walkway on the floor, with colored blue tape. Tape pointing the way. Showing which way to walk. .Easy to see, on the floor. Yes, that's why a video presentation is good. People can hear about a car, then see it. Without touching it. Talking about a car helps. Otherwise, everyone will want to get as close as they can. A TV or TV's at a few spots on the floor can be set-up with Wi-Fi. Or, whatever works for presentation. For a live presentation, from anywhere. Or, recorded. So the speaker can be there or not, live. Or, have several TV's talking about a few cars at-a-time. Then, walking on to see the next cars. -Mike
Thanks, Mike! That's a great idea. In regards to the poster of the album cover, I didn't have it made. It's an original display piece from a record store in Ohio back in the early 70s that I acquired in 2016 or so. But yes, it was a very serendipitous event to have it signed on the 55th anniversary of the Carpenters signing with A&M Records. Thank you so much for your kind words about my watercolor painting. I have a fine arts background plan to do more Carpenters-themed artwork when I have the time. My two loves in life (other than Ned and our chihuahua Lola) have always been singing and art. 😍
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacyIt would surprise fans, if Richard appeared on screen, then in-person. If there was a presentation for the cars. I sang in the same Acapella Choir as The Carpenters, years later. Same choir director. I sang second tenor. Now, I can do baritone voice. In the past from that University, a few famous singers have requested musicians, from that school.
Wow, Sally! The final scene of you, Ned and the one & only Richard Carpenter, holding your lovely watercolor print of his sister Karen & Miss Piggy must be the highlight of your life! The spirit of Karen is definitely in that painting. What a very special day for you & Ned! Next big event will be when Richard attends your “Carpenters Legacy” performance in Vegas! That will definitely be a déjà vu experience for Richard and he will be so impressed! Thank you, Sally & Ned, for sharing this incredible day with us!
Yes, this was definitely a defining moment in my life and I will always carry these memories close to my heart. Hopefully we will be seeing Richard again. Thank you for your kind words about my painting. I was so pleased that Richard liked it. Yes, we sure hope that Richard will be able to see our show sometime in Las Vegas or perhaps when we're touring in SoCal. You never know! 😉
I will be all my life so thankful with you Richard and Karen, because of your beautiful music, for all the masterpieces that you created. My heart is touched everytime I listen to your notes. Love you dear friends
Thank you so much. Yes, I was a little nervous wondering whether or not Richard would like the painting. I was very relieved to see his happy and nostalgic reaction when it was presented to him. I'm assuming that your TH-cam channel image is your own artwork? Very nice!
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy thank you, yes my profile is a watercolor of Mick Jagger . I’m an illustrator but first and foremost an unapologetic fan artist ;). Carpenters lover since I was around six.
Sally I celebrate Karen's birthday every March 2. She and I are both mezzo sopranos. She was my mentor growing up. I'm 64 years old. I miss her so much. Thanks for your channel!
Hi Mary Ann. Yes, I celebrate Karen's birthday every March 2 as well. She was actually a contralto/alto 2, not a mezzo soprano. I am contralto/alto 2 like Karen, so it's a perfect fit for me and that's one of the reasons that I developed our tribute show "Carpenters Legacy". So glad that you are enjoying our channel. 😊
Rwally enjoyed your videos. Im in my mid 40's and have been a Carpenters fan since i was about 14. I was captivated in school hearing their song Top of the World and its beautiful melody. Their Voice of the Heart album is a real tearjerker, especially Now and Look to your dreams. I play piano myself and love all the major 7th's and Richard's frequent modulations. He is a wonderful all round musician. I have managed to get a ticket to one of the 'Evening with Richard Carpenter' shows that he's doing in the UK. I'm from Liverpool but now live on the Scottish Isle of Lewis. I first came here as a teenager in holiday, right at the time i was getting into the Carpenters and also i became a huge fan of Petula Ckark at the same time. So for me the Carpenters music also evokes happy memories of holidays in a beautiful part of Scotland, where i now live. Really looking forward to seeing Richard when he comes over here in Sept. God bless you

There’s a portion of the fans who like to criticize Richard quite a lot, and I really don’t get it. Richard is a great person and has always been a class act. Side note: That is a badass poster. It just pops. Mint condition. Oh and Sally, you’re gorgeous 🥵
We totally agree with you. It's unfair that Richard gets flak from certain fans. There's a percentage of comments that I will immediately delete if I see that they're criticizing Richard.
