these early animations always had a lot of back ground scenery that we don't see in modern cartoons. the expanse of animation was going up and companies began trying to cut costs by reducing superfluous motion that you would see in the flowers wiggling, trees dancing, table lamps swaying with the music of early cartoons. in this cartoon if you remove sallyand substitute Betty Hutton, you would have an accurate reproduction of movies at the time. thank you hulakan!

Rose Marie was pretty much popular in her day. But I never knew she did cartoons. Although I'm not surprised. Seems a lot of that was going on back then. Popular, semi-popular actors and actress were doing voice overs back then. Much like today.

He, as well as a single visit by animator Seamus Culhane, became the inspiration for my 40 year career as a cleanup artist, animator and later, producer of animated short films. Well keep in mind Betty was 'retired' only shortly before Fleischer Studios was closed and turned into Famous Studios anyway, leading to a very different style (see their more Disney-like Popeye shorts). Even if Betty stayed on, she might have been rather different to how she was originally.
For the dancing, Sally was rotoscoped from a film of a swing dancer. This was done by Disney studios too particularly in the dance sequence of Snow White with the dwarfs in the cottage. Allowed for the accurate duplication of difficult dance movements.
