    I totally agree with your last statement about only getting fish that you want to keep. I love my clown pleco even though he just hides in his cave all day and comes out during the wee hours of the night to scavenge. I think it's mostly a matter of my respect of him and that I enjoy watching him find and steal the wafers when I drop them in (usually for only a little while).

    Khuli loaches look so cool but I have never been able to locate a seller of them in the central Texas area.
    I’ve only been able to find Java loaches. They don’t have the cool striped patterns but virtually act the same. When you get a group of them they are super social and will eat the excess flake food the top fishes leave behind. Mine like to drape themselves over the decorations and “hang out,” you could say. They also do a fantastic job of sifting through the sand substrate and preventing algae buildup on the sand. I love these little guys, they have such a low bio-load too! Can easily get a group of 6 and see virtually no change in your nitrates. Mine are now 3 years old, they didn’t get longer than 3 inches.
    Want to mention tho if there is an unfortunate death in the tank they will pick the fishy corpse clean until there’s nothing left. One of my juvenile neon tetras developed a crooked-back as it got older and could never keep up with the other neons. Eventually I couldn’t find him, I checked around everywhere but I never found it’s little body.

    WOW you even have a Aquarium Co-Op decoration in a tank at the store! haha!
    I went to a LFS today and bought new fish, Ameca Splendens and some other.
    When I came home I saw that the Ameca Splendens died and all the other fish were doing great! So I called the store and next time I get new ones.
    Do you have Ameca Splendens too? What do you think of them? Easy to breed?

      Trilineatus are abundant in the hobby and will cross breed with most Corydoras! Most pet shops call their Trilineatus 'Julii' so they can jack the price up. Easy way to tell the difference: Trilineatus have squiggles, Julii have defined spots.

    Can you make a budget tank for people who want to get into the hobby where there are some really beautiful fish, a clean up crew, recommened filtration all that? I think seeing what you had, and built it from the ground up would be way amazing.

    Kuli loaches and shrimp were always my favorite to keep. I also had a blue loach with orange fins. But he got pretty big, and obese, mostly because he kept eating all other fish their food. He also became more and more agressive over time and kept murdering every fish I tried to add. My response to that was putting him in the aquarium with my rainbow crab as his punishment, weirdly enough that fish lived li ger than my 5 year old rainbow crab. So we gave him.away to other people. I also really recommend freshwater pom pom crabs. They are very active and fun to watch, they're also the most peaceful aquarium crab you can keep. You can even keep them.with shrimp. + they eat algea so that's always a +

      I don't know why the loach got so aggressive btw. I had that exact type of loach for ages. And none of them got so aggressive as that very fat one.

      He did lose a lot of weight when he lived with my rainbow crab. Actually enough to get to a healthy weight again

    This was very good. To be honest, I expected much worse, only because I live in NYC and you always expect some inattentive weirdos who make it a chore to have to shop at the fish store, they who hate their job, and they hate being alive, ANYWAY. They sold me neon tetras, and swore that they weren’t aggressive. They turned out to be more aggressive than my Betta! Are neon tetras generally aggressive? I liked what you said about keeping ALL your fish as pets, and not having a “cleaner fish”.

      @PhillMobile 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neons are generally placid, schooling fish. However they are quick and small so may take an interest in your Betta's long flowing tail. If you don't want your Betta to be ruined you're probably best moving to another tank. Betta's don't need a lot of water, anything 10+ litres is fine.
