Greatly appreciate you calmingly share your watercolour seascape scene, amazing result what you've achieved using minimum colours. Thanks greatly appreciated truly inspiring others stay safe
Absolutely beautiful!! As always I really appreciate your instruction. It is very easy to follow. I get excited when you post a video even if I can't always watch right away. Oceans are my favorite since I've lived by the ocean most of my life. Happy holidays.
I love your calm , easy going voice and very informative instruction. This painting reflects that. Thank you for sharing. Inspiring. I am excited to try it.
@@LoisDavidsonArt Think your fantastic! The way you let the beginning colors do there thing and after drying create a beautiful painting. It’s opened me up to a new way of thinking and seeing.
Yeah, it doesn't look like the same painting. There are hard edges at the top of the sky that could even look like a mountain. Looks great, but I don't understand.
😍Absolutely brilliant. I am self taught and I have drawn and painted for many years and lately in Acrylic. I have sold some of my work but would dearly love to be able to achieve anything like your painting. So enjoyable watching your video but know my limitations and knowledge that I am too impatient and heavy handed to achieve this🤔. However I will continue to follow you and you never know. I have the paper, brushes and paints t the ready. As I live by the coast in Cornwall so much inspiration.!!🤞
So Lovely to comment nd connect with you for the first time ☺️ Lovely painting indeed. So good to have you after a week😊 Keep posting more Love from India ❤️
I love your work and am about to give this a try. You didn't mention it, but it appears early in the video you planned for a darker sky at the top of the painting, but later on flipped the painting and made the sea the darkest part. Looks great, but I'm curious as to how you typically decide in the beginning how dark or light to make the sky in these types of scenes.
Thanks John, I hadn't realised I flipped it, but now you mention, it, well spotted! I must have lost track of the orientation as I was turning it. I usually have a rough idea of how dark or light I want my wash, but I have found that you can't force watercolour, all you can do is try to set up the right conditions re. water/paint ratios and go with the flow so to speak, I am always flexible when I paint, and will always go off in an different direction if an opportunity presents itself!
I try so hard to get my skies like yours. I have put a lot of hours into it. For some reason I struggle with stormy skies. I use good paper, 100 % cotton arches and good watercolors but still fail. Getting discouraged, perhaps I am overworking them out of frustration.
I always manage to dip my brush in my coffee! Thanks for the tutorial and for pronouncing Hake brush correctly. Best wishes from France 🇫🇷

Just sublime, absolutely beautiful!!
Wow how wonderful it looks!! Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Thank you!
Beautiful! Wondering if Chinese white can be used instead of white Gouache on the Seagulls
I think Chinese white should be OK, you might need a few coats as it doesn't quite have the opacity of gouache
Just beautiful ❤
Gorgeous Lois thanks!
Thank you!

Fantastic Lois thank you
Wow!!! That's amazing. Great inspiration!
Wow, the difference between before min. 05:00 and after min 05:00 is incredible..!
It always dries lighter, however, the light in my studio made it look a bit too grey, there is more blue in the painting!
Yeah, it doesn't look like the same painting. There are hard edges at the top of the sky that could even look like a mountain. Looks great, but I don't understand.

This looks like a relaxing exercise when thumbnails are not inspiring ( like mine at the moment). Thanks Lois. Very minimalist. I like it.
Amazing
Maravilloso
Interesting presentation. I also paint watercolor. It belongs to the traditional technique. I like watercolor. It is simple, easy and clean.
I try so hard to get my skies like yours. I have put a lot of hours into it. For some reason I struggle with stormy skies. I use good paper, 100 % cotton arches and good watercolors but still fail. Getting discouraged, perhaps I am overworking them out of frustration.
keep practicing, remember less is more, stop painting the sky as quickly as possible, then don't fiddle with it!
Have you previously watered and dried the paper before painting??
