I've built plenty of spray bars and found a way to make my holes line up with clamps and a drill press. Seeing Dean do it with a table and pen just amazed me, what a great application of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
graph paper. the grid will line up around the circumference and that will ensure the graph is running parallel to the pipe and then you have an easy way to space them!
What Dean did is called scribing. It’s an insanely useful trick for a lot of finish carpentry, but to see him use it for something so simple is pretty cool.
I really like watching some of the older videos. Great tips and tricks might go out of style, but doesn't mean they don't work! Hey, I still like undergravel filters and box filters. But the most popular these days, but both still work like gang busters! Don't worry, I actually have Co-op sponge filters as well hahaha! Have a great day.
This video mops the floor with the Kings spray bar video. I've been in the hobby since the early 80's. I just learned a new way to make my spray bar holes line up. 👍👌
Dean's cooking up another master piece with his sharpie and tape trick. In an ideal world i'd like to see clear pvc. Always thinking outside the box. And it still looks professionally done.
From a fish guy who's also a plumber just let you guys know, You prime the pipe because it's a catalyst for the Weld, Also you don't run water in homes in glued pipe ( well cpvc ) you run waste and vent. The glue you want is blue and it's called rain or shine. Love you 2's videos
I have been waiting for this video ever since you mentioned it at Dean's house. It is nice to see it finally come out. Like always I love your work, keep it up!
Awesome tips. The pen trick is so simple not many people would think of it. I am so guilty at over engineering almost everything. I don't even want to say how I was lining up my PVC to try to keep the holes in a straight line. And I usually failed spectacularly!
This segment of your channel is my favorite. Keep it coming and the chemistry between Cory and Dean is very entertaining and natural. Keep it up and more power.
Nice video. I have a spray bar in my videos I uploaded years ago with my potato of a camera back then lol. I used Plastic paint and made them black but then later thought I could probably of dyed them Black too.
Daniel Gonzalez for the love of god and your sanity when you buy your canister filter make sure you buy a long flexible brush for cleaning out the tubing. If you don’t you will be like this idiot who was scrounging around for a impromptu tubing brush at Midnight. For the record a baby bottle brush, some paracord that has been hollowed out and a chit ton of stainless steel BB’s one can MacGyver a tubing cleaner.
LOVE DIY ideas that makes the hobby easier....please keep them coming!!! You both explain/show things in a manner that is informative and easy to follow.... love your little jewels of info (sharpie line tip) that you have learned from your own experiences.... 💖💖💖
Just combine this with one of Cory's bucket filters and you've got the perfect canister filter. I'm on it, that would be perfect for my old 70g rehab project.
I used this guide and made a spray bar for my 125 gal freshwater. I got rid of any air pump soon after because of the amount of air this puts in the water. Whole setup cost me $20 cad. plus I have about 7 feet of pipe left over. Building one for my 75 gal this weekend.
Thank you for this! I just moved my Red Eared slider of 15 years from a 40 gallon tank to a larger outdoor prefab pond. I've always used canister filters but unfortunately they aren't rated to be outdoors. But discovered bio pressure filters for ponds that work like a canister filter. I needed a water-return solution that could hang on a brim thicker than a fish tank so this is perfect.
Nylon string will cut PVC~! I have cut sch 80 electrical pvc with this in a tight pull station under ground~! this sch 40 is way thinner.... awesome idea on this spray bar... i have a canister filter and this will come in handy~! thanks guys,,,,,love your videos~!
Yay for "PVC Projects with Dean & Cory"...the series! Loved the "This Old House" music at the end. I had just thought that it reminded me of that show, then heard the music. 😂
I built something similar last summer using a pond filter pump for my 60 gallon tank, and put a video up showing how I did it. I didn’t think to make the hooks to hold it on the rim, though. Great video, thank you!
I've been using spray bars since the 70's and the only thing I've changed from what you've just showed is that in large tanks and tanks with really high flow where there is even a 10% chance of the bar coming loose because of water pressure, I've learned that if you drill a 1/16th inch hole through the end caps and into the PVC, you can use a plastic pin or screw to hold it and that's more than enough to hold the pressure.
This is awesome and a great idea. I'll have to modify it slightly as I need a rain bar, not a spray bar (to get frogs to breed). Tap the holes in the bar to add sprayers.
What a great idea, we need more like this! I'm in Australia also and these kind of ideas can be done from anywhere, I've made several things for my tanks out of PVC.
Ty! Gotta do this in black for my 180, instead of caping one end im going to run my outputs from dual fx6’s to each end of bar! Get oxygenation and sound! 👍🏻
Love the video, more PVC ideas video plz. Been a long time since I seen a DIY video from u bring them back haven’t watch Joey for months for abandoning them
Haha he pronounces measure just like my old bio teacher used to. Kinda forgot about that. And I’m totally building one of these tonight for my 90. Seems like exactly what I need.
i made one for my 125 but i made it where one side has the elbows to hang and straight out to where i use a suction cup to hold the straight end so i didnt have to things hanging on back
just made a spray bar out of 3/4 inch pvc for my fx6. it worked great. i was able to slide the outlet pipe over the 3/4 inch pvc but i did put a clamp on it so it wouldnt push off.
I like using the hard black reticulation pipes for my spraybars. They all screw together so you just need the teflon tape to join it all together. No glue involved. Costs a bit more... but in the long run... it's all reusable. Unless you happen to overtighten a joint like I did and shear the thread off in it.
I love how when it's something so simple, like the sharpie on a table trick, can make the smartest person feel dumb, just so simple
I've built plenty of spray bars and found a way to make my holes line up with clamps and a drill press. Seeing Dean do it with a table and pen just amazed me, what a great application of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

There is nothing better than experience.. Dean has an enormous amount of information and is very easy to understand.. Pleasant personality too..
I love how this video looks like Cory sat down at the dinner table to work on a school project with Uncle Dean :)
And jimmy Is the kid.
I laughed out loud, thank you.
All ready for show and tell on Monday morning!
Love the overall tone of this video. The chemistry between Dean and Cory is awesome.
"you are not gonna sleep well at night".
Cory you are perfect, don't ever change ! Thanks for the awesome videos, Big love from Israel !
As someone who does DIY spray bars...this design made me go WELL DUH!!! Time to redo the spraybar! lol

Sheesh I love you guys. Don't care what you'd talk about ( I do literally care) but I could listen to you both for hours. Cheers

You hit the nail on the head once again Cory and company!
Great video Cory! Master breeder Dean is amazing. I always enjoy his knowledge, experience and humour!
I absolutely love the old school spray bar . It’s giving me inspiration to build one this weekend. Thanks Cory and uncle Dean
Cool video Dean and Cory. I love working with PVC pipes. It is great fun to start heating the pvc pipes and making your own shapes.
Awesome tips. The pen trick is so simple not many people would think of it. I am so guilty at over engineering almost everything. I don't even want to say how I was lining up my PVC to try to keep the holes in a straight line. And I usually failed spectacularly!

Awesome video you guys should do more videos like this. In the near future I’m buying a canister filter for my 55 gal tank

Your guppy videos are absolutely helpful for someone who’s NEVER had guppies.A few TH-cam channels including yours have made me want to have guppies.
Just combine this with one of Cory's bucket filters and you've got the perfect canister filter.
I'm on it, that would be perfect for my old 70g rehab project.
Building things out of PVC is my new hobby! Considering a DIY 5-g bucket cannister filter with this spray bar as my next project.
Kool video with both of guys on it and doing a diy video

The ratcheting PVC cutters are a must. Nice clean cuts . I use a pair on my job for cutting poly .
I would love a series about all the handy uses of PVC! Speaking of PVC could you possibly make a filter out of a large enough piece of PVC?
Depends, what kind of filter. With enough ingenuity you could make any kind of filter from PVC
I enjoyed watching this video, and I don’t even have a canister filter! I’d definitely enjoy more pvc videos!
Great video guys looks really cool 😎
I LOVE A spray bar in ALL my tanks it's a MUST in mine.
that had to be one of the best ways to build a diy project i have seen thank you
So impressed the way you drew the straight line..
It looks good! nice tip on how to make it!
A series about PVC projects would be amazing! Please do it

I built something similar last summer using a pond filter pump for my 60 gallon tank, and put a video up showing how I did it. I didn’t think to make the hooks to hold it on the rim, though. Great video, thank you!
Simple yet effective! So much can be made with PVC pipe. 👍🐠
This was one of the most helpful video in awhile on this channel!

drip irrigation stuff by Rainbird also works well
I use the furniture pvc as well... purple and orange though... for my gravel vac. And I also aim my holes in different directions. Us oldtimers rock!
What a great idea, we need more like this! I'm in Australia also and these kind of ideas can be done from anywhere, I've made several things for my tanks out of PVC.
Yep..time to visit bunnings again.
Great video! YES! YES! YES! More PVC videos please
Great video. More videos like this about pvc would be awesome.
Thanks for the info. I tweaked this to do it with two sponge filter. Works great!
Ty! Gotta do this in black for my 180, instead of caping one end im going to run my outputs from dual fx6’s to each end of bar! Get oxygenation and sound! 👍🏻
Great video, did the same thing with just a power head and pex tubing on my 120, n my rainbows love it!

i made one for my 125 but i made it where one side has the elbows to hang and straight out to where i use a suction cup to hold the straight end so i didnt have to things hanging on back
Great information and tips in this video
Please show more videos about working with PVC for aquariums. Great video guys! You did it again Cory
Dean's a genius.
Great video, now I have an idea for my sump I'm building.
You can also put a pvc ball valve so that flow can be adjusted even more
Yes, or a PVC gate valve if you want more accuracy.
Thanks fellas. You could also put a couple of couplings in the middle somewhere, allowing you to have full control over direction of flow.
Yep, PVC projects are 👍, very nice!
💕👍
Thanks for this video I'll be using this
It felt like an episode of "This Old House" with Bob Villa. LOL. But seriously...well done. Good video Cory!!
True true.
just made a spray bar out of 3/4 inch pvc for my fx6. it worked great. i was able to slide the outlet pipe over the 3/4 inch pvc but i did put a clamp on it so it wouldnt push off.
this was awesome! I am going to try to make this, thanks
How simple was this DIY Susie Q. 👍🐠
Simple enough that I am going to create this! Hahahaha
Cory, thanks for the info on a diy spray bar. Mine looks almost identical to the 1 in the video.

Dukes of DIY.
