Thanks for this video. I don't have the same list of options in my Mplus toolbar. I am using Mplus 8 and I only see File Edit View Options Help. Do you know how I can access the part of the toolbar in Mplus you are using in this video?
why not just use R? what a hassle and old-fashioned program, it also costs money even
R is great but there are many things that Mplus does in a much more convenient and user-friendly way than R currently does, particularly when it comes to mixture (latent class) modeling and the integration of mixture and structural equation/factor modeling.

I agree, M plus looks really bad (like something that belongs in the late 1990s, even the website or the emails they send look like it's from another era) and it's a paid program. For many "basic" stats, it probably has no advantage.
However mplus is the only tool that implemented some more advanced methods (random slopes in sem, recommended approaches for dealing with predictor and distal outcomes in mixture modeling or moderation mixture, not to mention the hottest topic in quant methods recently: dynamic structural equation modeling). I've been relunctant to switch to mplus, but I've come to terms with the fact that if I want to use these methods, I don't have a choice.
@@Y45HV1N The Mplus program may "look bad" to you (and I agree that it is probably not the program of choice for many simple analyses) but I think that it is an extremely flexible & user-friendly program. You can specify a LOT of different complex models within the same environment with just a few commands. The Mplus folks also implement many newly developed methods quickly.
(By the way, I don't get paid by Mplus 😄)
