You are a true GT fan, not only by the nice quality of your GT bmx builds, but by sporting a GT winged logo tat. Awesomeness.

The frame decals indicate “late 1990.” The original striped taxi cab decals offered for 1990 were so unpopular, that GT changed them mid year to what is seen here. The components on this bike practically make it a Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model. Power Series 175mm three-piece cranks, GT compact disc sprocket, fork standers, etc. No Performer ever came with these. What’s really nice are the Peregrine Super Pro 48’s. GT never offered these on their bikes. 48-spoke wheels were not even offered by GT until 1992, I believe. The wheel set on your bike sold for about the price of a GT Performer.

Just picked up a last of the American made GT performers a couple weeks ago. It’s a 1998 black rainbow 3 spoke mag bike, got it from the original owner and it is MINT. Not a single scratch just some chrome surface rust I’ve been buffing away. It’s pristine, $250. Love the vid homie

My Schwinn race bike that I converted to a freestyle bike in 87 was stolen and my dad had homeowners insurance so I got a 1988 GT pro freestyle tour in that baby blue that goes by another name. Anyway, I stopped riding in 1990 to be fully committed to the drums (huge mistake) in high school and it hung in my garage for 6 years. I was just starting to get better at my Funky Chicken moving in circles and pulling pinky Squeaks, rolling boomerangs, and hang 5’s. Anyway, in 1996 my guitar players dad was head of east coast Mercedes Auto Body and we painted the frame Mercedes black! It was even baked in the oven! 😂 I forgot to add that I also switched to the Herro team master handlebars around 89 when I saw Dennis McCoy as a free agent riding a pro freestyle tour with Haro master handlebars. I instantly thought it looked better and I liked the way it felt more. The updated black tires with the shiny spokes, Mercedes black clear coded frame and forks, with the Chrome and black Haro handlebars, and brand new Mid-school and updated oversize chrome pegs made it look amazing and needless to say I had a one-of-a-kind bike. So after a quick month or two I was getting as good or better than I was six years prior considering I was 6” taller and stronger, and then WHAM it was STOLEN and I’ve only wrote a 20 inch BMX bike two or three times since 1996. There’s your story! 😂😢😮😅😂 I think at 47 years old I’m ready to jump back on. I’m just definitely faring trying to hang five! 👊

Nice ride Bro! I read things in forums about GT NSX and VFRs bikes being cheap boat anchors, But i rode these because they were affordable and all my buddys rode them too. These late 90s bikes are making a comeback !

I am building a 1990 GT performer so I was interested to see this video...while watching it I was taken back by a few things.. I didn't understand the use of nos so often? I was under the impression once it's on a bike it's not now? 2nd was your def of calling it a mid school! Basically every part that comes on that bike is 80s from the mags , stem, seat post , ect so I think to call it. Mid school is doing the bike injustice... I think maybe you think mid school because you put so many mid school parts on it.. Gt wing sprocket, those wheels, ect
I don't mind the look of your bike and once again not trying to sound like a hater but the set up is not even like a performer .. It's set up like a race bike .. It's like a Mach one set up on a performer body... If it's fun to ride that's the most important thing.. But make that performer a perfor,Ed again.. Put the old school back on it
