I've never seen such a skinny momma goat... like, it's hard to watch because it is so clear she is underweight. I think both the goats and the kitty need de-worming asap, they look bad off. I am happy you got some though, goats will help so much with brush and they'll love scraps from all your harvest. She also does look like she will be a great milker once she's in better health. And thanks for being so kind and helping that skinny stray, the animals that find you are often the best ones you'll ever meet!
When we need to add weight onto a goat in milk we give a combination of calf manna and senior horse feed along with a high protein goat feed that we have mixed at a local feed mill. The goats need access to a good quality hay and mineral block or free choice minerals also! Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats is an excellent resource! The goats are lovely but to echo all the comments, they look very underweight to me as well. And they hate the rain so a shelter is a must! Lots to learn when raising goats but they are such a fun homestead animal and you can do so much with the milk!! Definitely find a good goat mentor as keeping them healthy can be tricky!!

You'll enjoy them and so will the kids. A Shelter is nice for them to get out of the weather. Can make a portable one with Sled like runners so easy to move from place to place. That is a very nice addition to your farm. I have to put in some work before I get mine, cleanup of the area and good fencing so not this year. When they come home I want everything to be ready. Last time I was still in school and my dad was the authority but now it will be my show so the prep is on me! You can give those girls a three-sided shelter so they can hang out and be dry when it rains. They hate to be rained on. Enjoy your milk!

In the uk years ago farmers would rent out goats to clean garden up for people. It worked out well the goats would get free food so the farmers was happy and people would get cleaned gardens

Having raised Nubians and Finnish goats for many years I learned whatever you take out as in milking you must give them more of a nutrient diet of grain. The milker is very thin and baby’s ribs are showing as well. Of grazing heavily they may have worms. A vet check will truly help to be sure of quality of health and guide you to a better diet for them and quality of milk. Or a trusted goat breeder too. You’re so good to your animals and your land and now that you’ve got these I know you’ll give them a good life too. But you must have noticed how bony they are and need more attention. Sometimes it just happens but it certainly can be fixed. A Nubian especially should have more meat on her bones and not be so thin. A strict milking schedule and even building a stanchon would be much easier to milk at. So much cleaner for her and your milk. And how often is she milked cus baby looks like it’s ready to wean. So easy when you get a routine but grazing can’t be the main source of her diet since you’re drinking her milk. Wise choice having goats and perfect for kids to handle. That was a lot of work putting up the fence. Now ya need a shelter from nasty weather cus these goats don’t like the rain. Can’t wait to see this journey and if they stay away from the garden. We had a few that loved to jump the fence cus grass always greener on the other side. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
We raise goats under electric fencing. If you are going to be moving them around you might try the poly wire. It works just like the wire ,but much easier to move and reuse.

Put a couple of 2x2s, about a foot apart, across the covered part of the tractor so the Cornishs can roost off of the ground. Their feet will be warm and dry.
I found two kittens in my shed yesterday by the size of your hand so probably a month old no Mom around anybody in the Kansas City area would like them let me know

, yes I think they come from a dryer climate and can get foot rot if you leave them outdoors. There is harsh weather everywhere so sure they need shelter.

What a perfect addition to your homestead. Made my day when you said how you would harvest a goat for meat. Here in Jamaica we prefer to eat Ram goat,just keep females for breeding. Selah looks so happy with her new baby.
Goats can look that within an hour of not eating, they were just moved and so they weren't going have had full bellies (they have 4). They look good to me and I was a Goat Dairy owner for 35 years :)

Good morning. Nubians. Well done! Their milk, when cold, is delicious! I also like the Nigerian Dwarfs, but not keen on goats with horns. Even our Herefords are polled. I have eaten goat meat, and to me, it tastes like lamb.They are on my future wish list, especially to eat up poison ivy ! Enjoy your new animals.They are clever about escaping !

Worm them too and feed them lots of extra until they fill out a bit that little one is too young to have bred from 😀 I’m sure when you’ve had them for a while they will look 10 times better
SO SO SO SO cool! I have wanted goats for forever it seems like, but hubby can't stand them. Says they wont stay inside their pens and they want to get on your car etc. I think someone when he was a kid had goats and they didn't have their pen secure or something. Anyway FUN, but I don't drink milk since I am dairy free so no good in my getting one now. lol In fact it's helped my allergies big time going plant based and dairy free. No more ear infections or vertigo etc. That happened at least 3-4 times a year. Haven't had that since Oct. last year when I started dairy free plant based. Congrats you guys and I know they will totally clean out that area. Looks like the one that was being milked needs lots of vittles. hee hee

Goats were my second animal I ever had. I loved having goats. Best weed control I’ve had. Didn’t have to weed wack for almost three years.
The goats seem to be adjusting very well and that table is beautiful!

So easy when you get a routine but grazing can’t be the main source of her diet since you’re drinking her milk. Wise choice having goats and perfect for kids to handle. That was a lot of work putting up the fence. Now ya need a shelter from nasty weather cus these goats don’t like the rain. Can’t wait to see this journey and if they stay away from the garden. We had a few that loved to jump the fence cus grass always greener on the other side. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

We raise goats under electric fencing. If you are going to be moving them around you might try the poly wire. It works just like the wire ,but much easier to move and reuse.

Put a couple of 2x2s, about a foot apart, across the covered part of the tractor so the Cornishs can roost off of the ground. Their feet will be warm and dry.

, yes I think they come from a dryer climate and can get foot rot if you leave them outdoors. There is harsh weather everywhere so sure they need shelter.

I bet that rich pasture will put your goats in good condition. A little wormer and super Rich pasture with brambles makes all the difference along with their rations!! And y’all got the trees, brambles, and pasture grass!! Lol with all that rain, we don’t get much rain in west Texas!!

Goats can look that within an hour of not eating, they were just moved and so they weren't going have had full bellies (they have 4). They look good to me and I was a Goat Dairy owner for 35 years :)

Good morning. Nubians. Well done! Their milk, when cold, is delicious! I also like the Nigerian Dwarfs, but not keen on goats with horns. Even our Herefords are polled. I have eaten goat meat, and to me, it tastes like lamb.They are on my future wish list, especially to eat up poison ivy ! Enjoy your new animals.They are clever about escaping !

Good luck with your new animals, you might think about letting your daughter milk. I have seen several goat milking stations on different channels. Something to consider. They will help clear your wooded area if nothing else. Thanks for sharing.
Worm them too and feed them lots of extra until they fill out a bit that little one is too young to have bred from 😀 I’m sure when you’ve had them for a while they will look 10 times better

SO SO SO SO cool! I have wanted goats for forever it seems like, but hubby can't stand them. Says they wont stay inside their pens and they want to get on your car etc. I think someone when he was a kid had goats and they didn't have their pen secure or something. Anyway FUN, but I don't drink milk since I am dairy free so no good in my getting one now. lol In fact it's helped my allergies big time going plant based and dairy free. No more ear infections or vertigo etc. That happened at least 3-4 times a year. Haven't had that since Oct. last year when I started dairy free plant based. Congrats you guys and I know they will totally clean out that area. Looks like the one that was being milked needs lots of vittles. hee hee
