- FJ Cruiser LED mirror light mod, and how to remove side mirror, using a complete kit from Freedom Retrofits. The V2 FJ Cruiser Mirror Light Drop-in Kit upgrade is so easy to install, anyone can do it!
We change the outdated side mirror marker lights on our Toyota FJ Cruiser to modern LEDs. Unlike the common mirror light mod where just the bulb is changed to LED, we switch out the entire light assembly with a kit from Freedom Retrofits.

Just like our first version, our kits are included everything you need to replace your old hazy mirror light with a solid new LED upgrade. With our MJF printed brackets, the install is seamless and fits exactly like OEM. Our new Freedom LED Module allows the KC cyclone to run on a DRL mode which is dimmed down from the full brightness for road safety. Our module also allows for blinker integration as well, so you can truly get the functionality the FJ deserves.
Our kit includes:
- Pair MJF Printed brackets
- Pair of KC V2 Cyclones (White/amber)
- (NEW) Freedom LED module
- Stainless Steel nut and bolt to secure cyclone

I love the lights in your description when I went to their website $290 for one light I don’t think so I’m gonna put candles like the old days😂
What a fantastic video! You are a great teacher! I plan on installing a blind spot monitor system on a 2007 FJ I bought for my daughter. I want to put the leds in the mirror housing. This video really helps me understand how to do that! I absolutely would have ran my wires under the window had it not been for your suggestion. Not only did you show what to do but also what not to do!

I have a 2013 TT. My "flasher" appeared to be over the brake pedal. But the wiring color location is different. Can you confirm if the later year FJ as a different relay/wire color location?
i have mirror eyebrows led and convex blue heated mirrors in my fj
Taps are garbage and virtually guarantee issues in the future.
what would be nice is if those were switchback bulbs - i mean you did all the work, should have that too
If not using the turn signal function do I still need to use the wire harness with the control module?

How are the wiretaps holding up? Installing a 360 camera system that requires tapping into the turn signal wires. With how thin the wires are where you show you tapped into, concerned over time something will happen like a short where the tap is.

Just did this mod. Not too difficult but later model fjs, the relay for the turn signals is in a much more difficult to access location.
I have a question. How is the long piece of yellow wire connected to the mirror light? 14:16

Yup, FluidFilm. We've been using it since we got it new five years ago and everything underneath is in surprisingly good shape!
Hey thanks for all the videos of your freedoms. Ive installed as shown in the video and they keep blowing the 10 amp fuse under the steering wheel. I haven’t been able to get them to work. Also can’t find any info on where to put the 81980-50030 150w plug. Do you have any suggestions.

Great video, just wondering why freedom didn't build the kit to tie the pwm into the existing mirror light wire inside the kick panels instead of removing the mirror housing assembly/door panel/and fishing the yellow wire. The OEM mirror wire is sufficient to carry 100% pulse width of the cyclone.

Excellent video! Very professional and precise directions. I plan on this upgrade in the future but first I’m installing LED turn signal arrows that mount behind the glass and are bright enough to show through the mirrors. But I needed to watch this video first because the steps to connecting the turn signal wires are identical.

Are the black mirrors you have OEM? I've been searching for a long time for a pair of black OEM FJC mirrors to fit to my FJ62 but had no luck. I've found plenty of aftermarket black mirrors, but if there actually are OEM black FJC mirrors out there I'm going to keep searching.
Very cool modification too. My intent is to use the light with my blinkers when I get a pair fitted to my 62, so this video was a good one to stumble upon.
A question concerning the retrofit kit: Do you still have the blinker function when the marker lights are off as well?
We painted our mirrors black, along with the door handles.
