Growing up in Nigeria, life could either be sweet or sour depending on if you're born with a silver or plastic spoon in your mouth.
"Sometimes when i come back from school i will help my mummy," replies one child
BattaBox presenters Timothy and Adeola talks to children street hawkers in Nigeria who have to work or hawk on the streets for their next meal.
"I just want to help my Grandma," replies one girl
Although its not just children who hawk on the streets for a living, grown men also have to hawk to feed their families.
"I can sell three cartons of gala in a day," says one man who hawks
"I've been doing this for two years," another grown man replies
But how dangerous could it be, running after moving cars to sell, Timothy asks-
"Somebody selling gala was killed here," another guy replies
But the silver lining is that these kids have amazing future plans
"I want to be a doctor,"says one child

Watching this brought back memories of my childhood. I started hawking on the streets (highways and parks) of Lagos when i was about 9 to10-year-old boy. I sold nothing less than 10 different items including cold water, gala snack, egg, polyethylene bag, ice cream, newspaper etc. However, i am grateful to God for how he has brought me thus far; a PhD degree outside Nigeria and now into my postdoc in the US. I am only sharing this part of my life to buttress this video that its real and things like these shouldn't be encouraged nowadays. We have to encourage parents not to allow their children to go through the hard labor and rigor of life they went through in their own youthful days. Those children can be whatever they desire with their passion and dedication to education.

Freedom Styles I understand your tears and your little prayer to God. But God is not the one to change this "crime" committed to this children ! Its the Nigerian government and all the rich Nigerians who are selfish and only care about more more and more Naira"s. They turn their heads away from this "crime". Cause what you don't see you don't have to solve ! And when you pretend that you don't know than you can't be hold responsable either. Millions of very rich Nigerians live like that and nothing will be changed in this corrupt and evil system. So pls lets keep God out of this sad story. When God exists the rich will be asked on their judging day "What have you done for your fellowman?" And it will be silent............

My only dream in life is to work hard enough to provide free schooling for children like this and even proceed to providing them with 3 meals a day and a place to live...that is the only thing that would make my parents happy and by the grace of God in heaven I would have changed at least 10 million lives before my parents eyes

All i heard in common from these kids is that they are selling for their mom, their mom, grandma. How shameful, Where are these men who abandoned their roles? Disgusting.
Love the cute kids n teens tho. They are beautiful.

Realness! Government should ban this at least for kids. Everyday, I still thank God for my life because if not for him my story won't be any different from them. And even with all of it, they still have hope of be coming a somebody....... Lawyer, Doctor, and Accountants.
May God grant them their wish. I won't mind sponsoring a child through school (By God's grace).

We all have impact to play. We all run to America, England, Dubai etc. if those people doesn't fixed their countries nobody will go over their. We all pray that God should send someone to fix the country and nobody want to take responsibility and fix it. Their is nothing render people useless like a mentality to act like other will do it. One day I will be the president of Nigeria I don't let people talk me out of my dreams even they might not see the vision.
