the movement is so animated. this game shows us how the animation is as important as texture when it comes to graphics. while other studios nowaday tend to focus on the latter.
So true, look at AC games their animations are garbage and that’s a huge AAA studio. Animations is what matters most imho
Games like Mass Effect Andromeda really reinforce how important animation is; doesn't matter how pretty your characters look, it gets thrown out the window if animation looks bad.
Like someone said before, Art direction is forever, graphic can grow old, but if you have style in your game? It’s going to age pretty well compared to an all graphics game.

I'd love a Soulsborne game where you make the world around you more beautiful when you complete an area. Like when you kill a boss or something, you lift part of an ongoing curse, and the world around you becomes filled with art and color, Beautiful sculptures, little animals come back, lively music, etc.

I'm guessing the character isn't hand animated based on the flow of the movement. Some of the effects look like traditional pixel animation but it's a really nice effect and blend.

in souls-like you lose all carried souls when you die and have to pick them up before dying again or you lose them forever...

this is definition of rogue-lite (yes, LITE, not LIKE, because in rogue-LIKE your death means starting over from very beginning a.k.a. PERMADEATH)
this isn't a rouge lite. it's a metroidvania.
@@t.t6294 its got rouge lite features though. you build up buffs from defeating enemies and are lost upon death, starting from scratch with your buffs.
@@xxreyoxx those features have been in Metroidvanias for years. sure it's simliar but this isn't a rougelite because it's structured differently
