All tbe named caraters are named in german . They give you a clue to their i n their intial appearance's nature . Granted that is subject to change.@KaiMaeReacts
Can totally tell you went in blind. You pay attention and react to a lot of the details. That's great to see! Totally will be following you fully through this journey!
Himmel and Heiter were probably around 20 when they set out for their adventure, so around 30 when the show starts. Himmel died 50 years later so he was around 80 when he died meaning Heiter is around a 100 at the end of the episode. All names in the show are in German so: Frieren = Being Cold, to be Freezing Himmel = Sky/Heaven Eisen = Iron Heiter = Cheerful, tipsy, slightly drunk Fern = Far, Distant
Without exaggeration. This is the best Anime out there. What Frieren is for Fantasy the best, is "the dangers in my heart" for romance. The names are all german, so dont wonder. I wish you the very best Experience with this pinnacle of a gem. Probably you actual will see one of the best animations in anime. 'cause the animat0rs are well known and probably the best in the job. Im exited to witness this :333
It's the ultimate theme of escapism currently. General fiction and fantasy just didn't cut it for a certain time. The quantity of isekai is proof, but everything comes and goes with the times and there are still some really good ones being made. Mushoku Tensei is what comes to mind first, but even silly ones are enjoyable, like Campfire Cooking Isekai. It's silly and wholesome, but the amount of detail they put into the cooking animations is crazy lol.
@@PeakFictionWithAms Ahh. I think what makes it great is because it's got those uncomfortable subjects for a very flawed person. It dances on the line of *our* ideals and beliefs while highlighting the tropes as well as subverting them at times. So much was left out of the anime compared to the LN which really would make a lot of the controversial moments much different.
@@grimmturd my personal favorite is "Ascendance of a Bookworm". One of the best out there (at least in terms of story telling). I can´t wait for season 4.
There's a reason why this anime is the best reviewed anime on anilist. It dethroned an anime that was number one for years....and that anime was only number one by like .01 above like 5 others and frieren is .3 above that.....
Known your asmr channel for a long time and I'm glad to find out you have a reaction channel as well now! Will be looking forward to see your reactions ☺️
Welcome to the emotional rollercoaster ride that is Frieren! The names of the characters and places are German and their German meaning relates to the characters, so here are some translations of the main characters we've met in episode 1: Frieren = freezing, cold Himmel = sky, heaven Eisen = iron Heiter = cheerful Fern = distant Flamme = flame Ewig = eternal This show isn't just any anime content, it really is a timeless piece of art!
You held up quite well in the first episode. I was ugly crying the entire time. There's a lot of attention to detail and easter eggs that you might not catch until you've seen the series a couple of times so that's something to look forward to. There was a moment when you tried to see the concept of time from Freiren's perspective and that intuition was spot on. It's easier to connect with Himmel and Heiter because their experience with time resembles our own. The secret genius of this series is unlocked when you're able to cast this pre-existing perspective aside to see the world through Frieren's experiences instead. You'll know you're successful when you start to understand why she is the way she is and why she processes things the way she does.
Not going to spoil her age, but Himmel and Heiter were around 15 when they set out. Add ten years for their big journey, fifty years between the meteor showers, adds up to about 75 for Himmel in the end. Heiter must be around 95 at the end of the episode then, but we learn in a much later episode that priests are born/blessed with special protections (in D&D that would be the equivalent of great saving rolls, I guess); it's not completely absurd that longevity could be another blessing priests enjoy. Or he simply has great genes...
The names of the characters in Frieren are all German words. Knowing the meanings isn't necessary, but there is a lot of added value in symbolism if you do know it. Frieren - (to feel) cold, freezing Himmel - Sky, Heaven Eisen - Iron Himmel - Bright, Cheerful Fern - Distant Flamme - Flame, Passion
It's not explained, but it could be that the shadow dragon horn in Himmel's cabinet had an effect on his aging and early death. Although it might not be that early, since their 10 year adventure + 50 year timeskip + however old Himmel was to begin with may have put him well over 80. As for how the Priest is still alive so much longer... that's just Priest things.
Also you have to think about it, more than likely they started their journey at least when himmel was a grown teen or a young adult, so probably 15-20, 10 year journey he was probably 25-35 by the time the journey ended, so 50 years later, he was at least in his mid 70s
Frieren mentioned in this episode that the 10 year journey was less than 1/100th of her life, so she, personally, is over a thousand years old. (Assuming she wasn't lying and such) Most questions the show makes you ask it also answers, at least eventually. Sometimes as a minor background detail tho.
The first 4 episodes aired together in Japan because they were meant to be watched together if the ending seemed rather abrupt
This
oooh I had no idea! I'll have to binge the next few then hehe

I love going in blind! haha

I think closer to 16, if I remember correctly. There was one scene in the Manga that gave a pretty good reference point.
oh wow wait that's soooo cool 😯
We know as a fact that Himmel was 16-17 so he died a bit younger, but Heiter lived sooo long xD
Himmel was 76 or 77.
He started his jorney at 16, ended at 26. +50 years, he died at 76 or 77.
Heiter is 2 years older than him.
Which means he was around 100 at the end. I guess the fact he was a priest with healing magic helped with that.
well Heiter was looking much chipper than Himmel lolol

omg yay! I'm excited to watch :D
Every time someone assumes Frieren is an isekai, a part of my soul dies.
Same. But who can blame them, we're drowning in a sea of isekais in which even suicide squad got one lol

@@grimmturd I don't think mushoku tensei is good :(( I think a lot of isekais end up being super patriarchal and misogystic.

Dwarves live to about 300 and elves can live for thousands of years.

ooh okay that makes sense (and thanks for no spoilers haha) but that's cool that there's some D&D elements in the show 🤠

ooh interesting 🤔 I'm def excited to learn more about the mechanics of this world
It's just one of the best fantasy series since LOTR. Not an Isekai, as those are when someone comes from one world to another.
ahhhh I love LOTR !!

okay true, he was just so short! lol
Thank you for sharing 😊
Welcome to Frieren!
thank you!! 😊
"I like a main character with Gusto." - hahaha...if only there was an Aura or something that could improve that problem.
😆
Hi, #KaiMaeReacts. I've just subscribed to your channel, so this is the first time that I'm commenting on your reactions.
welcome !! 🥳
OMG, im gonna cry😭
I teared up a bit :')
Nice
Skip intro? The song was the first thing I liked about this anime.
I feel like the intro spoils shows for me sometimes tho >.
Frieren is the only show that comes close to Avatar
omg ATLA is one of my all time fav shows 👀
You'll learn why this anime is at the top of MAL. It's simply the best.
I watched the next couple episodes and I'm already so HOOKED haha

you´re thinking about episode 4 or 5.
haha yea I just like to think out loud when I'm watching these so I'm hoping that all my questions will be answered eventuallyyy
This chick truly has some American level IQ and comprehension skills
not sure if this is supposed to be a diss or not lmaoo
