I keep watching Alex and his alignment steps (I'm a real quick forgetter!). I am amazed every time that I follow his method how quick it is to get excellent results! Now I have the 6 steps printed and stuck to the inside of my bandsaw!
Hi, I'm no expert but I have rebuilt several bandsaws in my time. Question: is this a used, older bandsaw? I'm guessing yes and that a piece is missing. There should be a thrust bearing but not necessarily what Alex Snodgrass is showing as "side bearings". I do not use those. I use wood blocks I make instead out of hardwood. (Some saws are set up for round, not square side guides so you can use a piece of dowel.) But - back to your thrust bearing issue. There should be one. You may have to get creative and fabricate something. Try to find an exploded diagram for your saw.
Hi, question. I just purchased a Laguna 14/12. With a 1/4” blade. I’ve watched your bandsaw setup videos several times. But the tires are wide. So where should I place the blade?
Hi there, the deepest part of the gullet should always be in the center of the wheel. Linked to this reply is Alex's Step by Step process for your reference.
@CarterProducts Thank you. I got confused b/c i was basing it off of the tire. And not the actual wheel. My experience is based upon my 9" Porter Cable.

Thanks. I have an old Sears 12". About 50 years old. It's served me well, but with your tips, it should even do better. Thanks again.
Thanks
*ALEX* is there a benefit from using a grinding stone to round over the back blade edge?
.... What if I don't have a thrust bearing?
