Great video , I'm restoring a savage right now , I bought two in bits and im slowly going through it and putting one together , I hope to build one really good one and have lots of good usable parts left for if I need them in the future, I'm enjoying nitro again after playing with lipo powered cars and trucks , got my Tmaxx 3.3 running nice now so I hope the savage goes as well , keep making your videos mate 🇬🇧

Back in the day I tuned my t-Maxx transmission to hold 1st gear longer for hill climbing and when I ran it on pavement it would hold 1st at a very high RPM and when it shifted into 2nd gear it would be in the power band and it sounded so good like a F-1 🏎. I don’t know what the rpm was but it would haul donkey. So dang fun!

Awesome video! Love a good savage tune up session after a rebuild. Once she's set, she's set. Only needs a minor tune here and there. I like that this is a 2 needle carb hsn and lsn, it's a matter of preference but for the beginners feel that helps. It's such a great platform you can't go wrong with a Savage x. I. Biased though lol, I think im up to 9 hpi nitro savages.

I joined nitro game after about 7 years only with brushless but I didnt know what I am losing. Nitro is so fun I have two savages (you know to have always at least one running) they are running sweet!
I think the actual difference between those rotostart system was,that the old most common system had the one way bearing on the engine. And the other had a one way bearing buildt inside the drill to. I used to sell hpi products for a couple of years. So i had to familiarize myself with all new changes to know what i was selling.
Looking forward to getting my Savage 4.6 💪 just picked up a cheap broken nitro truck and got it running miiint 👌 time to get out and burn some nitro

So I was able to find one ,yeah it was not cheap (A lot more expensive than any X ),however it seems to be in awesome conditions !Still waiting that the beast will be delivered here ..Can"t wait to get it!!!
I still hope that the power feeling of the XL is nearly so good as on the X!:-)
Back in time I revbuild a X "SS" for a cuistomer adding a 3 Speed and a LRP Z.30 which was built and breaking in by my self,this was the definition of a beast lol ,still have here on TH-cam a small video from this.
Still remember that the X was able to push with any issues wheelies on command ..Because I never drove a XL i"m not sure if he is also able to do this due the different wheelbase and plus of weight.
Hey bro! Im proud of you getting the XL, I have one too, and will never sell it. I will tell you a very significant observation I've made about the XL vs the X, besides the XL being super rare in comparison and having much beefier drivetrain and 3.75 HP engine instead of a 2.9, the XL's longer chassis handles SPEED RUNS very very well. The X seems to be a wheelie truck, while the XL is much more planted (due to the longer chassis). Its a totally different experience, once you run the XL you will probably agree with me, let me in the future.

Your observation seems to me very interesting ,thanks for that! As mentioned yesterday on the Live chat,I think that a video of a direct comparison about them made by Hybrid themself would be unique on TH-cam and absolutely epic! Think about it!!
The XL is truly a super rare Nitro truck , it was a headache to find one at really good conditions and by far more expensive than the currently prices for the used X ones..
As soon as I have drive it ,I will tell you about that .:-)
PS. I will try to bring at near future also more videos showing Nitro"s hoping that this will motivate more people all over the world to run Nitros in order to make Nitro great again..My first one is allready online,a small tribute about my HPI Nitro Rush ..Awesome stadium car!!!

Got one of these who have not see a start in about 10 years, have it whit all the upgraded parts, 3 speed transmission, pipe, upgraded suspension, metal driver, etc.
Wonder what a have to do to start it again, cleaning carb i guess ?
Thinking about converting my 4.6 to nitrostart because it eliminates the one way bearing, engine will have a different rear shaft too

hey buddy! That's interesting, im thinking maybe the one you got was some OLD stock, because by those years it was the Roto-Start 2 System in them.
The flysky gt5 is the top nitrogang approved radio. It's great and supports 20 cars.
What specific glow plug are you using with this savage?
Can you tell me how to tune it back to stock and get it running can find best position for all tune screws

hey my dude! Thanks for watching! These were not 100% top speed runs, I was in a very limited space with walls everywhere, I think it had about an extra 7-9 MPH left on the top end before hit top speeds.

Looking from rear, left rear wheel should be swapped with front left. The wheels are are flipped.
hey bro! Very good observation. Right after I recorded that scene I did notice the tires were flipped and I did rotate them correctly. The running footage in this video was done after the rotation, so rest assured that was the correct setup during the driving footage. Thanks again bro.
Sweet vid, makes me want one. Kinda as a resto project. It sounds like it was doing a 2 stage idle after you got off the throttle from hitting that 2 SPEED BABY, but when I hear these trucks they always sound like that. Is it normal for those engines?
hey dude! I highly recommend you get a nice used Savage X 4.6 model, just like the one in this video. It's the most common and lots of engines could easily be used in this truck. The 2-stage idle is a thing yes, I was still in the process of tuning the motor on this truck in this video. Generally I would say it's pretty acceptable compared to many other 2-stage idle carbs I've dealt with. Usually after some high RPM runs it's always a common issue. Could be a improper back pressure situation because the fuel tank pickup is at the top of the tank, a serious issue on the XL model btw.
Not normal but not dramatic either. This engine needed a little tune to be perfect. Thanks to make nitro great again and your comments are important for beginners. Continue to talk about problems you have on carburation and tuning. 💪👍

Did you have to rest set the carb needles back to factory ?
whats up SHANE! Good question. Whenever I rehab any nitro motor, I always fully remove the High Speed Needle clean it, then turn it all the way in, then back it out about 4 turns. On average 4 turns on any motor will be rich enough to be safe and it will still start. I honestly never even check what the factory settings are, because these things are already so worn in and there too many other variables, the only thing that matters is it starts, and then you randomly tune from there.

Hey how are you? I just bought my first nitro RC , I got a savage x 4.6 for $50 . Didn’t come with the radio controller. But you can’t beat $50. The body is not in the best condition and I’ve tried looking for a replacement savage replacement body but no luck. What other body can I use that will fit my truck? Thanks for your help! The only time you can really smell what the NitroGang is cooking is when you're running SUPER RICH!! Richer than the citizen of Dubai, like I was last night with the Thunder Tiger Tomahawk. Yes sir, s-21 to the most current. All generation have multiple speeds. 95% of the xls came with a 3spd. The only single speed savages are the electric ones. All nitro All speefs

hahah yes, I am attempting to create 1 REAL NON-LIVE video once a week. The effort to create this video took over month, as you can see I had longer hair in some clips and was wearing the nWo Shirt design. There were some clips which were recent (at the end) but the clips where I was wearing the nWo shirt were over a month old.
