This show is what I was waiting for the whole life, seriously! Please carry on, do not stop, even if you don't feel like continuing, take a break and continue, but do not dare stop. TH-cam really needs at least one serious ZX Spectrum channel, most retrogaming channels are more or less USA-centered.

Hi Paul. Really like your Spectrum show and your manner. The game diary is really interesting....seeing Berzerk slow down in Basic with more code lol! I wonder what they are going to do with that......z80? That's very challenging.
My vega nearly fell apart after a year but got it fixed and it works, except the green light at the front won't work. also I thought there was instruction on the page that shows the control, they seem to have disapeared 😵💫
Great episode - especially for the Vega review (as there's been a lot of nonsense either way on that one), so it's great to see a more balanced piece about the finished product.
+hellfire64 Sorry to disagree but this wasn't exactly balanced... "you might not like it, but you might"... what? No mention of the poor connectors or the shocking price either.

The price may be high, but getting a real machine plus joystick, plus divIDE (or similar fast loading storage) works out about the same if not more. Emulation would be cheaper but not to everyone's taste in a living room environment. Yes it needs some work, but only be supporting it will that happen. Despite the current issues, I like it. I can pick it up and take it to any TV in the house and get my fix of twitch Speccy games. That's what it was designed to do.
+hellfire64 The problem is at that price it's quite right that there's a lot of rage for it. The price isn't good and there's no positives there so people should be warned. You can pick up an inbuilt pad from the likes of Funstock.co.uk with 30 MD games built in plus an SD card slot for just £30 and that has more buttons than this! Let's be honest the Spectrum could be emulated on a calculator it doesn't need anything smart and fancy running the innards so at £100 this is verging on a con. This company also has a history of ripping programmers off with licensing fees too if you look it up online there's already a few games on it I believe which aren't covered so it's not like a large wad of profit is going into the game makers hands.
+Lorfarius The Vega is made by different people. You were thinking of Elite Systems, they are pushing the speccy bluetooth keyboard now. For the Vega all game developers gave permission and either receive compensation, or have their compensation donated to charity.
Another great show. I really like show great to see all of the ZX Spectrum hardware and software. The Sinclair Vega looks interesting. I love that Berzerk re-make it looks amazing. I wish Jason the best of luck with it although I feel BASIC is the wrong language to use as the Speccy has to translate in real-time and this will always cause slow-down. It has been years since I coded in Z80A Assembly language but that would be the way to go. Can't wait for next month's show, keep up the great work.

I have played GB Ltd and do enjoy it very much, Is Geoff aware of the modern game Democracy 3. I haven't tried it myself yet, but it looks pretty good.
That Speakeasy program sounds like an AM radio station with extremely poor reception, but even that might be overrating it. I know that is not the software's fault, but the computer's audio capabilities or lack thereof. It might be fun to have a game where you try to guess what a sample is saying.
Great episode as usual. I liked that you gave a balanced review of the Vega I must admit I'll not be buying one. Now that I know that some of the Ultimate games are on there I might have. As you can get them on Rare Replay for one 5th of the price of the Vega with another bunch of great games added in there's no way I'll be buying one.
I totally get the reasoning behind the Vega, but I still wouldn't buy one. What I am really hoping for is an exact copy of the original rubber 48k, but with SD card built in, HDMI output and 128k modes as well. Now that I would buy!!
You probably know this by now but when you loaded in you own games it was only displaying the ones beginning with A you need to move left and right to get the other games starting with b and c etc. It wasn't explained well by the system itself really.

Reference to GB Limited: A new version of this game needs to be published in 2021, The economic scales are so screwed by the COVID epidemic it should have relevant educational value, played within similar parameters of the original game but NOW there is such a pertinent, contemporary, and hopefully in the future, unique theme, the game should work. Politics aside, the state of the economy has become desperate, yet the government is not to blame. As to the game: no graphic update, maybe just some tidying of the code so no pauses for sections that might rely upon BASIC coding, Otherwise: Play & Learn, and otherwise be entertained and engaged with an already recommend game.
I considered a Vega but hate cables and the vega is too retro in it's connections for me. I settled on a GDP XD instead and am very happy. I liked the concept behind the Vega but feel they missed an opportunity and the device is over priced for what it is. Too many top titles missing and the '1000 games' filled with too many obscure titles. Yeah you can put your own roms on but there are key mapping issues then and besides, that's losing it's plug and play, ease of use intentions.

I had River Rescue on the Vic20, and you could control the speed on that version for points. It was a great game on that system.

The Vega would benefit from a USB socket to plug a full keyboard into. I wouldn't care to play an adventure game on it as it is.

Good for the SD support on the Vega, otherwise it would have been complete garbage. But then Spectaculator does it for me.
The Vega is £62 on Amazon as I type. You can get a real Speccy for less than that on Ebay. Not worth it at that price.
