- Pokemon Clover is well-known as the most offensive and crude fan made Pokemon game that's out there, though besides that reputation lays a high quality Pokemon ROM that's been passionately created by a group of people. So, to give this romhack a shot - I'll try adjusting some of the Fakemon designs and see if a redemption is within reach!

I'm actually Mexican and I love the dude to death he's so cool. So the fact you did it justice and made it so much cooler while keeping the design the same is worth applauding.

Would say it needed a bit more tweaking, but mostly in the 'making hat feel a bit more like extension of body's and 'moving the guns a wee bit more away from revolvers towards Blastoise style cannon vibes'.
It feels like it would have been super cool if the inside of the poncho was pitch black, and there was nothing there till an attack, and pow! Out pops a cannon from one of the sides!

Pokemon Clover not only having Gen 3-esque sprites but also Sugimori-style art reminiscent of Gen 3 as well is such a nice touch

@@vladthelazyslowpoke7222 i don't hate it I guess (mainly because of some of the very cool designs like deathorus and vivaiger), but the offensive content in the game (yes ik its made by 4chan before anyone says) and things really outweigh the good imo

@@vladthelazyslowpoke7222 Because the controversial elements are *really* in your face in a few places, given it’s 4chan humour, which is hard for a lot of people to stomach and detracts from the objectively incredible parts of it (such as the effort put into the sprites, combat reworks, etc) that are genuinely fun

As a brazillian i wish they went harder with the design, like its just a person, brazil has so much shit to make fun of and they go for football man
You know, if you were to send these into the Clover devs, you might actually get ones like Somboludo and Cokemmoth in the game. A lot of the sprite updates they do are community done and not by the original sprite artists, so you could actually see your fan work become “official” for the rom hack
Especially because they’re working on 2.0 right now
Pokemon clover's music is top tier, so as long as you don't touch that, there won't be no problem

Ayy Pokemon Clover. This game has no right to go as hard as it does. Humor wise the game goes for the insult everyone equally approach. Not everyones cup of tea for sure. But the effort and quality of this rom hack is undeniable. From the music, several great Pokemon designs, funny story, challenging but manageable difficulty, locations, memorable dialogue, and etc. I definitely reccomend people try out this rom if they aren't turned off by the humor.
As for your video, your re-designs/updates were great. They didn't forgo the original intention of the designs and spruced them up well. Your Somboludo sprite looked especially good. Great work, and thanks for reminding me about this trip of a Rom Hack!
Also I reccomend people listen to the "Route Master" theme from this game. A great Rollercoaster of a song.
I mean insult everyone equally usually means "tasteless and kind of dumb" then it's probably not my thing, but yeah, the a lot of the designs (separated from some of their uh, shitter contexts) are pretty good
I would KILL to see Clover get a BW/BW2 type remake or something, partly cause Clover + animated sprites + 2.5D feels like a match made in heaven

I'm honestly kinda surprised more ROMhacks don't give their mons two Hidden abilities like Clover does.
Also fun fact about that "sexy sentient pizza" at 4:50, it has the unused type combo of Fire/Fairy and has Water Absorb as one of its hidden abilities.
Would love to see a part 2 where you tackle the inoffensive/less offensive designs.
I think clover didn't need resprites but a lot of these are pretty good! Id definitely take the cokemmoth and somboludo sprites over the originals!

I kinda wanna replay through clover now, I legitimately put in the effort to do Selective Breeding and EV training in this to stand a legit chance. Genuinely the most fun ive ever had playing any Pokemon game official or not
With lame ass Pokemon like these, not to mention a grass starter that seems to be designed for butt jokes and ends with a fricking tree coming out of it's rear end... I'm having LOTS of issues seeing what in blazes is the fricking attraction here. . .

Well... Years ago, I THINK I might have Heard some people once talk about this game on a thread somewhere once before... I don't recall the name of the game... But I DO recall that grass starter being described in detail.
I believe I recall someone once saying the reason why the rom hacker designed it in that fashion was to avoid having his game being dmca'd and removed for being too good(or SOMETHING having to do with a legal reason)so he chose the grass starter and made it as unappealing as possible.
by making it as controversial as he did... He managed to shove off attention from the higher ups from wanting to take the game down.
So why did he choose the grass starter? ...I think it was because he just knew grass starters are usually the most unpopular to begin with... They tend to be the ones with the most weaknesses so people just avoid picking those...
I don't really know if I'm really recalling this matter correctly, but true or not... I think. . I'm gonna elect not associating with a game that has a grass starter like that... It's just wrong. . . Yeeeaaa. . . . . .

Honestly, as someone who once wrote their own take on Pokemon Clover, they are all so awesome !! Although, even if it's redesign is as good as the others, i kind of feel bad for Rectreem lolol. I wouldn't like being perpetually constipated.

Ok, the design for the grass starter that you did is a 10/10, stayed true to the original while making it way funnier
Definitely an interesting hack to take on, never heard of it directly before today, (especially with how it seems to actually care about animal logic much more then "legitimate" hacks I've played) but Ive definitely seen a few if these sprites around. Appreciate the philosophy of keeping the baseline philosophy while... Ya know, trying work with these.
There's definitely a stupid charm to this dumb chan hack, and its neat to see the ideas re-explored.
Somboludo especially is an absolute *bang*er of a re-design, the whole thing is so stupid it honestly wraps back around to being cool, especially once ya made 'em dynamic.
Though, easy pick for most improved is Cokemmoth, that dude *chunked up* and the animation of him snorting his own dandruff is both hilarious and kinda cute.
I genuinely think it’d be an interesting discussion to have in regard to how the characters of the official games, anime, manga, etc. would react to seeing the Pokemon of Pokemon Clover. Especially the cast of Scarlet and Violet.
Like imagine Arven’s reaction to seeing Mozzamel.
Or the faces of the Team Rocket Trio seeing the Focchun starters.
I can 100% seeing Ash catch a Honrade and then seeing it use its Sword as a pole to avoid an Earthquake.
Tho tbh I'm far more interested to see how the entire Clover dex would fare against the official 1000+ Pokemon competitively.

I liked Scytill, the legendary Pokemon based on the windmills from Don Quixote, before I realized even its shiny colors are the color scheme of a notoriously awful flag.

Your redesigns are all pretty stellar. Ribbizap is PERFECT. I think cocamoth’s shiny variant misses the bloodshot eye and bloody nose reference from the original shiny. I love the extra details you added to Rectreem. The tree looking like a fart cloud is hilarious. But you made it less thicc 😤

Edit: I would say the Upchucken design would've looked a bit better if you had the bodies of the Far and Tor dolls hanging out in front of it instead of just poking their heads out, since it feels like there's a lot of empty space in front of Up's belly

Burning and Shining Gundams both stealing the show with martial arts you'd never expect to see in a Gundam, really stepping out of the cliches of the usual story line of a Gundam series while maintaining the themes of war with a tournament that effectively IS a war for power.

i Loved Somboludo designs, he already looks soo cool despite the joke and would be an actual thing in pokemon if not tought into a bad way, idk about it but, it would be cool if the Gun Magazine Arm's had some small side holes to show that his Bullets are made from sharp thorns made from him, with a small Mexican flag tied around the neck and looking like a superhero cape with his boots having that cowboy aspect while the Evo's of it change depending of gender, like, male getting a nice moustache, a belt with thorn bullets around him while still keeping his original wild west cowboy style! while females of that kind receive an redish with dark and golden bits hat and a red dress with some of the original colors and instead of a mustache, she have an red mask around it's face as if she's a bandit and the male version a sheriff of some sorts, having her arms ressemble one of a 6 shooter revolver~

Rectreem being a little Bigger due to the tree growing on him, with the excuse that it's roots grew to the point of occupying the entire internal area of the abdomen and simply feeding on the waste there and transforming the rest into a healing sap, making him a little chubbier and thicker, even adding a light wooden armor to his belly or making his belly would have a sap yellow color as if the sap was so much that the belly took on an amber appearance showing the roots inside well twisted and expanding inside him, even his thighs would have some "striations" of wood as if the tree had been growing and making his leg muscles stronger to carry it around! oh and the tree would be big enough to look like torterra's tree but with more trees coming out of him, making him a nice mix between torterra when it comes to tree size and Sceptile when it comes to use his tree like a missile with some plant like tentacles hidden on it to explain the enema joke of that "pokemon"~
Cool Ideas but probably won't fit... anyway, still loved the new redesigns and i'm subscribing today!
