The 3000GT is a highly underrated car. With just a few changes you can really make it look stunning, not only by the standard of its era, but by today's as well. It's a shame Mitsubishi has gone away from making the cars like this that truly defied convention. Thanks for preserving yours and really making it look like a million bucks!
I think its hard to argue that its an highly underrated car from that era, but when you look at its competitors its quite easy to see it never really stood a chance against the Supras and Skylines and the other icons from the 90's JDM scene. And the fact that the 3000GT is known for its pretty terrible reliability didnt help it either... Having said that, I've always had a softspot for the 3000GT VR4, and I get more excited seeing one of those then I do a Supra or Skyline, and this one turned out damn nice too :)
@@nicosand86 idk about that, i think its more so it didnt get a spotlight in mainstream media, the engines are fine, it could compete for sure being only like .3 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile against an nsx and the first gen is especially more beautiful than a supra imo, plus all the creature comforts in the interior make it still an amazing daily, add a bluetooth headunit and it might as well be a modern car, i drive mine everyday and its never felt outdated
@Jose ricotaconachoquesadillamandillajones the engine I don't think was the issue, but the overall reliability of the cars. They're so far ahead of the time when they came it with so much fancy tech. The problem is the 4wd system was terrible, and it's the reason for the meme that all 3000gt owners have to drive around with a toolbox and a spare transmission/transfer case in boot. The wheel steering is also a known weak point. And all of these are expensive parts to fix. But even so, I still really dig the 3000GT, I think it's an awesome car that is very underrated.
This video invoked so much nostalgia for me. As a kid, I watched my neighbor build up his 3000GT into this beautiful metallic burnt sienna monster. I love the 99 front bumper with the 98 rear spoiler! My dream is to build a Stealth with that combo for the ultimate combination of factory curviness. This video really highlights your love poured into the build. Well done!

I have a 95 3000gt base model, and I wanted to supercharge it, but that twin turbo sounds sick. Just figured that since it is a base model, the supercharger would fit it great. I was also trying to mod a six speed in it without the rear end somehow. Thanks for the video. Keep that car bro there hard to find in my area.
Hey Miguel, congratulations on your VR4 build! Its nice to see someone taking the time to go through everything and breath new life back into such an amazing example of over the top 90's design/tech; I am a little bias though as I have had just a few of them. What's interesting is that the VR4's are rare but the VR4 Spyders are extremely rare and very hard to find in the wild. Maybe at some point we will see you working on restoring one of these little gems in the future. Great work on the videos and enjoy the VR4!
