A woman from work gave me some Loquat fruit during lunch. I tossed the seeds a garden pot and now I have 4 or 5 trees growing. They are very happy so far, though I won't see fruit for another couple years.

Uncle, good choice in potting mix. Gary's Top Pot is highly recommended. I have a loquat tree in my yard. Every year, it drops seed, and those seeds grow more trees. I pull out about 2 dozen loquat trees every year. They grow like weeds. It's an invasive species.

    I have two loquat trees.
And when the children (and squirrels) drop the seeds, new plants crop up. I pull dozens out every year (and give away as many as I can). So growing from seed seems to be effortless here in 9b.
And I agree: the fruit IS delicious 👍🏾

Here in Germany they are called "Mispel". Here they are flowering in the winter and develop fruits in spring. In the winter time my trees are covered by a thick layer of snow. The flowers can freeze and defrost several times and still develop fruits. There is also another variety called the "common medlar" but its not as tasty as the loquat.

LOL! Saw title, got my notepad, was ready...but you answered all my questions in the first minute. I grew my loquat from seed from a loquat i ate in a Turkish market. Most delicious fruit I've had. Ive waited 9 years now...nothing. I GUESS I'll buy grafted online now and keep my old guy pampered. maybe one day. I used to live near Logee's and make my pilgrimage there once a year. Their old greenhouse is incredible. Thanks!

I am in zone 9 but right on the edge of 8-9 so if we happen to get a freeze in January or February, the blooms freeze and thereby we get no fruit. Didn't know that about the grafted tree bears fruit sooner than seed started tree. Great video!! Jesus bless.
