This movie always has had a special place in my heart despite me being one of the people who is bummed by the ending. It’s great to hear all this background! I appreciate it more now knowing how little they had to make it and it was great seeing the cast reminisce.
This movie was a cornerstone in my sexuality. I was 17, my girlfriend was 19. It just came out in theaters. How much I felt so awkward and so new. I love all of you guys. So much. The mom scene. The first kiss scene. The best friend scenes. So relatable. Even as a 17 year old in 2001-02.
This movie has such an special vibe to it. You can see that it was made with love. It's hard to watch movies like this being made anymore and I have such affection for this one 💛 Now I understand more, I didn't knee the actresses were the writers too :O
Kissing Jessica Stein and Party Girl are my two favorite NYC rom-coms . Both capture NYC at that sweet time in the city before 9/11. NYC was still charming and eclectic back then and accessible to people who were not mega-wealthy.
This is one of my favorite movies I saw it when it first released super indie vibe and I can still watch it today like no time has passed at all. It's the first time I had seen a film executed so well. People loving people no matter the gender even if it was out of the norm like it was during this time. I really appreciate it and it makes sense they wrote it together. Anything Jennifer writes or produces I fall in love with. I did the same with Friends with Kids.
Such a beautiful and artsy film. I am a straight woman but this is one of my all time favorite films. It evokes so much emotion and nostalgia of the NYC I never got to meet.
Ive always loved the ending. And, now that im an actual adult with varied life experiences, I think its the most realistic ending. Some lovers come into our lives as a catalyst to us being more of our true selves. And, if we're lucky we can shift into a genuine friendship when the flames of romance dies out.
thinking about the time it came out, the characters were treated really well, Helen was a wonderful leading women and romantic interest; I mean I hated too the way Jessica's bisexuality was painted as a "phase", but the way her family acted around the fact was amazing, and i think that's the gold point on this movie, the mom is the best character ever.
I just watched this for the first time tonight (Mar 1, 2019) and couldn't stop laughing and felt really invested in all of the characters. Im curious why the scene Jackie Hoffman references (about kissing Heather Juergensen in stairwell) isn't in the movie cause I think it really would have been such a great scene to see for so many reasons.
The DVD has many deleted scenes, including this one with commentary from the co-stars on why each did not make the final cut. Should be available from your local library.
I was surprised to hear about that scene. Why? One is pregnant or just had a child, can't remember exactly and the girl is her best friend's lover. Make no sense to me.
This film is EVERYTHING!!! Huge huge impact on me! Still my FAVORITE WLW film!!! Your legacy with this film is forever and far-reaching for the LGBTQ community and indie filmmakers.
my love for this movie is everlasting, one of the first lgbt movie I ever saw and it was so pure and real..I come back to it every now and then and it always make me feel good..I even like the ending LOL
I'm a woman married to a man but this movie was one of my favorites when I saw it. I must have been around 11 years old, but it has been with me since then.
This movie brought me that vibe to feeling gay in my teenage days. Something that I hide to my family in a long long time. Personally, the best but forgotten gem.
I think this movie explored flexibility and sexual and Romanic attraction being on a spectrum and resolves in the idea that although there is some ultimately your sexually is more biologically determined.
Just watched this movie for the first time today and I’m in awe. For many reasons (in a good way)! But isn’t it weird how they keep labeling them “lesbian” ? Why did the possibility of bisexuality never get brought up? In the end it makes it seem like Jessica just went through a phase. Especially with the line where she says Helen wanted someone “gayer”. I dunno.
Jennifer never made it as an actress. She has a slightly off putting beauty and I think she just didn’t resonate on screen. This movie was ok I guess. Nothing ground breaking imo but I guess it was to others

I love this movie. It has a lot of humanity and heart. Beautiful ladies!! The mom was fantastic. I have to watch this again.

This movie was astonishingly important to me as a young person and I can imagine to many others as well.
IT is so underrated. I loved it, it was like a female Woody Allen movie
pro trick: you can watch series on kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Sergio Finley Yea, been using Kaldrostream for months myself :)
The entire cast has definitely aged very well. They look fantastic.

Definitely in my top three favorite lesbian themed movies. A really enjoyable, great film.
This was such a great movie. I remember when it came out. Brilliant cast.
So grateful for these two talented artist. Beautiful movie. Excellent cast.
I loved the film!! Loved it! Well done! ❤️
I first saw this movie when I was 17. I immediately purchased it on Apple and it would become a comfort movie for me for the next several years.
Ending was a real downer. Shame seeing my fellow LGBTQ+ people painted as confused in their own movie.

@@mariajosevelaargaez3057 Non judgemental Acceptance. But...no scene with Mom after the break up ? That sure was very important to both.

The End was disappointing for eternal romantics. I am still in love with my first love, after 30 years
9 years...We're not together. But she's still the love of my life. Never loved anyone as I loved her
Great .Movie..Awesome story Funny and sensitive
This film is EVERYTHING!!! Huge huge impact on me! Still my FAVORITE WLW film!!! Your legacy with this film is forever and far-reaching for the LGBTQ community and indie filmmakers.
I loved the movie when I saw it a few years ago

Wow, I had no idea they wrote and made this themselves, that's like the dream.
Such a well-written, funny, sweet and unique movie. I was glad to stumble upon this video. Thanks for all the laughs!
Only note I had on the movie was the ending 😢 everything else was amazing

helen cooper is just so 🔥
Thank you for this movie. I love it so much. Despite that I hate the ending. Josh sucks. Jessica can end up w a man....but not him. My god.
Yep I hated the ending
The ending was a little bit sad for me
This movie made my choice ok. I can't tell you how much it helped me.
Good New York Movie
I love this film but I still hate the ending I watched it when I was 10 years old
Not gay and don't usually watch movies like this but this movie is pretty good

I love Tovah feldsuh
Jenifer is actually my best friends aunt
❤️
I really hate the ending, all that time the daughter was straight. Plus I didnt like the bf.
I think Jess was not a lesbian, and rather like asexual. Maybe she needed therapy from the time she turned down the play in 5th grade.
