    #suggestion There was a bit of a scandal between Topalov and Krammnik a few years ago, where Topalov accused Krammnik for cheating, because like 75% of his moves were the same as an engine's. Can you cover it with some games?

    • @nikolaslavov3498
      @nikolaslavov3498 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Not only, he went to the toilet quite a lot of timea, and after the game they found cables in it, Topalov was angry and wanted to challenge Krammnik again but he declined, even though that according to the FIDE rules world champions must accept challenges from anyone with ELO higher than X(I forgot what X is, but I am 100% sure Topalov had it at the time)- very nice suggestion bro, I knew that game for a long time but didn't think about suggesting it

    • @davecompton8456
      @davecompton8456 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I wonder if anyone has written an article for a chess magazine or even for a scholarly journal for instance on neuroscience analyzing GM games over a long period of time to compare the percentage of moves to engine moves. It would be very interesting to compare games before good engines to modern era. I would expect that with home preparation using engines today's era would contain much higher correlation. But also these fellows and ladies are really good, so would the percentage be naturally higher than say, some scrub on lichess?

    • @haroldhaynes828
      @haroldhaynes828 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dave Compton im pretty sure they compared players to engines.. look up CAPS on chess.com, obviously Magnus Carlsen scored the highest in terms of accuracy out of everyone in CHESS HISTORY

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chessmetrics did a comparison like the one you are talking about. I believe Capablanca came out as the most accurate player in history. Look it up on google.

    • @gumbobubba9424
      @gumbobubba9424 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I highly doubt Kramnik was cheating, at these high level games, it's only to be expected that players will have a high percentage of moves match engine recommendations. Besides, kramnik also pointed out that in several of Topalov's own games from previous tournaments, he had an even higher percentage of engine moves! Kramnik always walks around a lot and uses the bathroom often during games, topalov and his manager were just throwing baseless accusations.

    Agadmator, I think you suggested a blunder... At minute 2:13 where White doesn't play Nxd6 since cxd6 undoubles the pawns that would be a terrible blunder by Black. Here the move f6 comes to bite Black, since Qb3+ picks up the b6 knight that suddenly lost a defender and was being attacked by White's dark squared bishop. Black is forced to recapture with the queen.

      Daniel King on power play chess did a video on it... Nakamura missed his chance to break with f4 which is an important principled move in this type of position. Search for power play chess it's a great analysis.

    12....f5?! doesn't work, unless White plays 13.Bg5. White can play 13.Bxc6 or 13.Ng3. 13.Bxc6 bxc6 14.Ng3 isn't very appealing to Black I would think, unless he likes working with a double/isolated pawn structure. And, if after 13.Bxc6, Black plays Bxf3, you have 14.Qc3+ and White is trying a cheap re-trick on Black :) : 13.Bxc6 Bxf3 14.Qc3+ Kh8 [Rf7 doesn't work because of 15.Nxd6] 15.Nxd6 & Black goes down in flames..... Anyways, I don't see what White's rush is for to castle. 4.c3 Nf6 5.d3 and White has a decent chance of preserving his light squared bishop in many lines.

    3:52 Grischuk cannot capture with Qxd3 because Rd1 Qg6 Nh4 would win the queen

    The photo challenge is American super-GM Hikaru Nakamura, probably age nine or so in this photo. I sat two boards from him in a tournament in high school... #BrushWithGreatness

    Looks like Hikaru Nakamura. In the game Nakamura seemed to be unlucky with the white pieces, while Grischuk played an excellent endgame.

    May you please do Game 4 of the Ding Liren - Veselin Topalov match in Wenzhou, China. I would love to hear your analysis on that game as it was also the game that pushed Ding Liren past the 2800 rating.
